Your ilford jacket is just gorgeous. If the sun fading on your gold linen bothers you or restricts how you can cut it, you can always overdye it the same colour. That Liberty lawn is stunning. The flowers on it look to me like white lilacs. Definitely not buddlia. I have a birthday this week and have some sewing goodies coming my way too I think! So sweet that your dad watches your videos.
That's a great idea! I am hoping I can work around it by folding in from the sides, I was happy to snap up such a bargain so will get it to work somehow. Yes Lilac's you are right! Thank you and Happy Birthday x
Great vlog Ruth. I love your fabric choices the Liberty Tana Lawn is beautiful they are lilac flowers. I didn’t purchase any this time. Have you tried the Prym vario creative tool or pliers? These are perhaps more readily available. Lauren from G&G had some in stock she also has a tutorial video. Hope that helps. See you on Saturday. Have a good week. Happy sewing.🧵 xx
Hi Donna, yes Lilac's of course 🤦♀️ thank you x No I haven't tried to the vario pliers, have you? I'll check out the tutorial though. See you on Saturday, i'm looking forward to it xx
Ruth your fabrics are gorgeous as normal love the fabric your Dad’s picked for his Ilford I’m bit worried about making it in cord I’ve brought the same poppers as well 😳might just have to wear the jacket undone 😂 See you Saturday I’m sure I’ll need help with the jacket 💕💕💕 Frank looked like he was having fun 🤩 xx
Really enjoyed your vlog … you have such a calm voice, very relaxing. I’ve also made the Ilford jacket recently, in a dk plum linen and lined in the same colour. I will make it again and plan on using a flimsy cotton and this time making a long shirt version. Love yours and hope we see your dad’s too. Also pleased you mentioned the button website and plan on buying a few different ones, so thanks for that bit of very useful info.
Thank you for such a lovely comment 🥰 I think I will also make a long shirt version for the summer, that would be a perfect garment to wear when it's nice and warm. I'm so pleased you like the button shop, it's tricky to choose sometimes, they have so many good ones x
Hi Ruth, your Ilford jacket is lovely and really suits you. Hope you get your wretched snaps sorted - how kind of the market lady too. The Ilford is on my to do list, so I’ll look forward to hearing how you get on. I’m liking the look of the Ines shirt - it’s not one I’d heard of. Please keep the pics of Frank coming - his snores and “creaks” make me giggle. Bless him 😊
Hi Shelly, thank you so much. Oh the Ines is a wonderful pattern, it's comfortable and stylish and so versatile. Can you tell I love it lol I will keep the Frank content coming, I know some of you love seeing him 🥰🐶 x
Hi, lovely video, I always find your videos relaxing. What beautiful countryside to walk with Frank, it was lovely to see him. I’ve coveted one of those presses for a while but as you say very pricey; I imagine they are amazing though. Happy Sewing 🧵 😊
Hi Jane, thank you so much 🥰 I think it's one of those items you will be really pleased to own but it's just taking the plunge. Happy Sewing to you too xx
Never had a problem doing snaps without a big machine. You can get just the same outcome by hand, so i dont know why yours havent worked? I have the jacket pattern traced out already and the fabric for my toile. I have also got the Den jacket/shirt pattern which is a new release by chalk and notch. I think you'd also love that if you do the Ilford.😊
I'm not sure either Bev, user error maybe? They look beautiful but if you cant do them up it's not much use. I will figure it out though. I look forward to hearing how you get on with your Ilford 🥰 The Den jacket is nice too x
fab jacket! the snaps are so annoying, the same has happened to one of them on my pogonip, even after using the prym pliers, which is frustrating. I'm also tempted to look into a snap machine as I love the look of snaps. xx
I've bought myself the Prym creative tool after Donna recommended it. A little birthday treat to myself so I'm hoping that will help. I fixed these ones with it although they are Milward so I had to wrangle the bits to fit lol I love the look too. If you want to bring your Pogonip to the social next month we can try and fix it? xx
Hi lovley! Your Ilford jacket is gorgeous! I'm yet to make mine 😂 I have a press machine. I got mine from jam snaps uk. It was a few years back so I'm unsure if they're still trading. It cost about £100 about 5 years ago but came with snaps and the die. I don't think I'm too far from Newport and I love a good rummage through a charity shop, so we may have a venture out one weekend. Loving all your videos ❤ xx
The more I think about it the more I think it would be a good investment. Do you ever have an issue with the snaps coming apart when you use the press machine? And yes we should, that would be great! 🥰
@@SeamStressedRuth I've had no problems with my press at all. I've used it for plastic poppers and the metal ones. I invested in one as I used to make and sell cloth sanitary pads so a press was easier to install them on each. You deffinatly won't regret buying one. Over time I've bought different dies too so I have different popper sizes and a grommet one too xx
Ruth, snaps are a right pain. I bought one of the prym hand held ones, and they still came out. You have to hear that satisying clunk then you know they are attached. Its very frustrating. The Ilford looks lovely though. Happy birthday for the 7th. I have 4 grandchildrens birthdays, all in March, so i know the feeling lol 😊
Thank you Annette 🥰 Yes it is frustrating, I gave them a really good whack, several times, with a hammer lol Maybe I'm just doing it wrong? You sound like your month is going to be a busy one too xx
The Ilford jacket is on my to do list, hopefully very soon. Trying to get all my stash used up before ordering more fabric. Just a small point - I can hardly hear you in places and I have had to increase the volume up very high.
I know the feeling, my stash is quite conservative and I do like to try and keep it so that it all fits in one cupboard in my sideboard. I find it hard to resist a bargain though 🥰
Hiya Kate, i'm thinking you maybe left this comment on the wrong video but it has made me giggle 😄 I am actually quite frightened of trampolines after getting my fingers stuck in the springs at school. I was very happy never to have to get on one again after that lol x
Hello, love your Ilford jacket. I have that pattern and very much want to make it. I have some olive needle cord and hoping that will work. Love the footage of Frank, sounds like the puddles were iced over, very cold! What sewing social do you go to, one day I might be able to find one close to home ❤
Thank you Yvonne 🥰 I actually had planned to make an olive corduroy one but wanted to try this fabric first in case I didn't like it and wasted my lovely cord. I think it will work fine with the needle cord too. The puddles were iced over, you are right. He likes to splash through them usually so he was not very happy that he had to go around. I attend the Staffordshire Social, its held in Penkridge in Staffordshire xx
