Yes, being "confused" about your sexuality doesn't remove all self-control and empathy and turn you into a maniac. Also I don't think confused is the correct terminology. He was full of shame and fear lest his friends discover that he was a fake person.
He at first ran like a coward and let his buddies get killed. But then after getting some distance he did man up and comeback into the fight. The other cops harassed and ridiculed the shooter and created the whole situation and then clocked, shift change.
@@bentleyrv6 The short cop that pushed the guy and just kept poking at him is just going to play the victim. I don't think he is man enough to own up to the fact that he set the whole thing in motion.
I watched the entire police bodycams of this incident, it was difficult to watch. The police that made the traffic stop seemed totally inept. Texas cops would have handcuffed both of them about 90 seconds after the stop, arrested the driver for DUI and the passenger for interference.
@@uhoh7541I took that part of the interaction as a sequence of "come at me bro" energy. The cop lightly shoved Nic, he flopped like a basketball player, then the cop realizing he may be getting written up for that tried to play it cool with the handshake, but Nic did the handshake in a "don't temp me bro, don't temp me" aggressive manner. You can tell by his body language and what he's saying he wasn't happy about being shoved, it wasn't playful.
Your dad lives near my city. I live in Waterbury. I don't remember hearing about this when it happened, but shooting is unfortunately common. I hear gunshots where I live. Uncomfortably close.
Ambushes are so despicable. Those officers were just doing their job and they weren’t even the officers that he interacted with earlier. He just wanted to act out his rage and take it out on others. Probably wanted to die too but some people can’t do that without taking others with them. At least he was so drunk he f’ed up his weapon and the surviving officer was able to take one hell of a shot.
This guy was a ladies man? He looked like sloth. Or pickens were slim there. What a coward ambushes these officers with firearms. I feel for the officers. Not him one iota.
Gonna let you in on a little secret: Women aren't any smarter than men. For every insufferable douchebag there's an insufferable woman who thinks he's the bee's knees.
Something about him having two possibly pregnant girlfriends and yet his ex cant have a boyfriend is crazy business, how no one sat him down and pointed out the hypocrisy is astounding.
@@noone-dv1jo So? She was his ex and not obligated to him anymore. No doubt his man baby spoiled toddler behavior is the reason she chose to become his ex. The guy was his own worst enemy. And did he really have friends? Or were they just coworkers and people he forced himself on? Can't imagine anyone wanting to hang around with such a vile person.
There's a lot of supposition by this so-called counselor or whatever he is but the reality is that the guy doesn't show any evidence of being confused about his sexuality. It's as if He's completely ignoring that sometimes people just sex with either. It's also not indicative of toxic masculinity anything that was described. This whole analysis is oddly...off
@@Lorentz_FactorI don't think you listened properly. His friend said that he exhibited characteristics of toxic masculinity. And he kept on installing and uninstalling the app. He did not come out as gay or bisexual, but kept his preferences secret.
I saw the bodycam video. Nicholas was shoved down by one cop and got his pride hurt. The video also showed the later encounter. It wasn’t even the same cops
Thank you for sharing this. Dr. Grande inexplicably left that entire part out. And you're right, that's probably why he got so upset. And I didn't realize it was different cops. Their entire roadside argument was bizarre, I was hoping for insight into that, and he just completely ignored one side of it. I don't know why they didn't arrest him then and there, and their behavior was instigating as well. Not that it justifies it, just adds backstory. I don't know why Nicholas didn't use his fists then and there either. He chose to be a murdering coward instead.
@@FatGuyinaLittleWoods Ego maniacs. Thank god the world is seeing what many have been saying. They use to get away with just sh00ting you in the back and said you resisited.
I live in Connecticut and at one time lived on that road in Bristol. I remember my shock in hearing of the ambush and the shooting and killing of the police officers. It was a tragedy that will never be forgotten. Mental health issues need to be addressed when loved ones see them, especially when known substance misuse is involved.
Nick was OK with his faving lovers and making babies, but his wife wasn't supposed to move on with her life. How can a person be so entitled and self focused
His marriage ended and he became gay bc his manhood was questioned - havent any you notice how many old white guys swear theyre gay and or women after being let down by society and yall keep humoring them - they need help -
@@jf8138You do know the research and data we have on psychopaths is just that right? Research? Meaning we don’t 100% know for sure what any so called psychopath will do. Our research doesn’t make us omniscient about those we’ve done research on. Life itself is unpredictable, those who think they know everything know the least.
His brother should have been investigated for a DUI during the initial traffic stop and he should have been arrested for disorderly conduct. None of that happened and the entire stop was nothing short of chaos. They were let off lightly because they knew one of the officers. Things could have worked out differently if not for the "good ol' boy" system of justice.
I live in Bristol and knew all parties involved. A true tragedy that shouldn't have happened. Nick should have been arrested at that traffic stop. I live about a mile away from where the shooting happened and i heard it through my gaming headset, it was intense. RIP Alex and Dustin.
Nicholas was a big coward & probably afraid of his own shadow. He couldn't control his anger at himself for being confused sexually. He took it out on men, REAL Men because he was jealous. May the fallen officers RIP & God have mercy & healing for their families & the Bristol police department
He clearly needed help. Coming out is incredibly difficult- your right, it does mean “manning up” in many ways, being honest, taking responsibility and sticking to your convictions. He clearly did not have that within him or anyone around to help foster that in him. I know many people who discuss how before they came out, they also put on the tough guy ladies man act because they where scared of being “found out.” It’s very sad. He should never had had access to firearms while he was constantly intoxicated and depressed/mentally unwell.
His question “are you proud” was directed at officers. During first contact the officer was poking at him saying I bet your parents are proud. That’s where that came from
Crazy how he was Aaron Hernandez best friend and football teammate in high school. Their other best friend on the team was also found guilty of murder. All 3 best friends were killers. Mind blowing.
@@Joe-qm4yv yes, I saw that video. I think everyone knows two wrongs don’t make a right. He could have filed a complaint if he felt he had been mistreated as we all have the right to do. The body cameras were clearly recording everything anyways so there’s no conspiracy theory. I’m sure they see the blue lights and think about how many people in Bristol have mental illnesses that are not being treated.
You left out the part about the cops, being unbelievably unprofessional during the traffic stop which likely provoked him. I’m not making excuses for this clown, but they did not help anything.
@@thomasnapierjr4974they mocked him taunted him pushed him to the ground and then laughed about towing his work truck saying have fun explaining it to your boss . They absolutely caused this
I just saw the body cam footage of this. It was insane, the man seemed to be a life long bully and wannabe tough guy. The fight was because a guy put his arm around him. He had a real problem with the cops, especially this shorter cop. That cop embarrassed him.
I watched the police DUI interaction with him and his brother and right off the bat Nicholas is so unpleasant and instantly hostile. He insults an officers height and made incredibly strange and specific claims that said officer has lewd interactions with dogs. That is hella disturbing, its such a strange thing to say. Very suspicious.
Those poor coppers. Imagine going to some seemingly routine disturbance and getting ambushed by a lunatic. What a senseless tragedy. At the risk of triggering 2A Americans (I’m an Australian firearm owner) I’m glad I live in Australia where we have stringent firearms controls that go along with our rights to own firearms. Background checks, mental health checks, and safe storage are reasonable measures to ensure that tragedies like this are few and far between.
Are y'all even allowed to have a gun that ain't a single shot bolt action? 😂 Joking though curious tbh and said with all do respect wasn't trying to be mean or sound like a dick This was a horrible tragedy I agree
Nice (and correct) description of the guns, Dr. G. You must be a man of the brass. 😎💅 Most RU-vidrs don't even know the difference between a shotgun & revolver.
@@Coloradodogmama He definitely seems to know his stuff. I’ve learned a lot more about guns here than I ever would have expected from a psychologist’s RU-vid channel.
@@Thejoshrandall Yes, really. “45” in this case refers to the model of Glock, not the caliber it’s chambered in. I’m no firearms expert, but I do know how to perform basic internet searches.
A troubled person and alcohol are a dangerous mix. Self hating homosexuals sometimes are the most macho acting. One of them stabbed a friend after their sexual encounter was over. He told me he knew he shouldn't have walked in front of him which gave him the opportunity to stab him in the back as they left the motel. So strange the behaviors the mind will produce out of guilt and shame. "Are you proud of me are you proud of me" was probably tied to his repressed sexuality. Mothers always know.
The last part isn't always true. Plenty of people are gay without their mothers knowing. A large portion of gay people don't give off many cues for their sexuality. I know my mom was shocked, lol.
I'm sure they didn't know.. why would they want their brother dead.. if they knew this nate wouldn't have been around ro get shot.. the mother wouldn't want her kid killed like this
The police cam footage of this is the most horrifying video on the Police Activity channel. I watched it before bed the other night and had trouble sleeping. There is just something really unnerving about it
I can’t watch that stuff, but I’m fascinated to know what the Police energy was like in response to this guy’s ridiculous behaviour. What context was the ‘people are proud of you’ statement made? Was that an attempt at building rapport and trying to get him ro reflect on how others might be ashamed of his conduct? Or a sarcastic statement or insult. Would be terrible if an off hand sledge was enough to make a man murder.
The fact they cut out the beginning tells me they were in the wrong or this was avoidable by the officers in some way. The moments up to the incident are crucial; but of course "not available"... hmm.
@@PilotFlight2Mars At the traffic stop, one cop said something like “I’m sure they’re real proud of you” (I forget the exact wording and don’t want to revisit that horrible video to find out, but maybe in reference to his parents being proud of him?) I think it was that very statement that really pushed him over the edge, although I’m sure he would have done an act like this at some point anyway. Then when he carried it out, he asked his mom if she was proud of him.
I see your complete bias over this interaction with law enforcement. from the video I saw the police treat him with no respect, one of the cops assaulted him and it looks to me they were trying to bait the guy not to mention the cop's bad language as well. terrible that the three cops that showed up was not involved. all of this could have ended better if the police did here jobs correctly.
Imagine the amount of damage this guy had done in his life up to this point while he was drunk. I’m sure he absolutely knew that he had to quit drinking, and I bet he didn’t spend one good second actually legitimately trying to quit. Everybody else out in the world has to absorb my violence, and get victimized by me and abused and threatened and Verbally accosted, etc. And then one day It finally got to a point where his red line got pinged and he couldn’t take it anymore.
@@lylewalker5681 the worst part about it is that he might have turned out to be a likable guy if he could just stay sober. I used to be awful to be around, but after over 15 years without a drink I'm totally different. People who've met me since I stopped drinking wouldn't recognize the old me. Just think how much damage could have been averted if he would have faced his problem instead of running away with booze.
He was a weak man who tried to account for that with guns and other meaningless trappings. And yeah the alcohol is the last ingredient in this recipe for disaster. He made everyone he knew miserable and then ensured they would remain miserable forever. Pure selfishness.
No mention of the wild Police interaction from a few hours before? One of the cops was literally goading him into fighting and pushed him, it was wild and highly unprofessional.

The audience needs to watch the whole video. You can go to a channel called. Good luck America. He’s a retired police officer. He comments on the stop from start to finish and has the complete video. There was no reason for the police to pull them over. They weren’t even being detained. The cops made fun of them and the short officer pushed him to the ground. They just have to show their authority over the general public, even when it’s not necessary.

Welcome to america where if ur friends with the cop you just get a pass. My aunt was a cop for a town close to where i live and my parents have essentially a business card to give to those officers that say theyre a friend of someone on the force, so they dont get ticketed. Its pretty Fd up
The Bristol jail was not taking in detainees unless they were charged with felonies or domestic violence due to covid restrictions. Had they been able to detain him, they would have. The awkward officer interaction was due to the officer being hamstrung.
Where did you get the information on him being sexually confused? I just tried googling that about him and found nothing about it. The reason its interestint is because Aaron hernandez who he weent to school with also murdered ppl out of being in thd closet
Absolutely amazing, that these guys weren't arrested at the traffic stop. Drunk, belligerent, aggressive, with all of those cops there, and they were allowed to leave. Got the police killed that night. Different rules for different folks.
Yeah being friends with police in america just gets you off the hook plus they were older and white. If they were young or minority that stop ends with arrests for sure
@@jem3848 Yeah , NOT true! People gave too much freedom and others have taken advantage and abused that freedom. And they have become the "openly" restrictive and the prejudice!
This is really a story about a guy that just wanted to have a drink at the bar and people just wouldn't leave him alone. I watched all the videos of the bar, body cams of the stop and ultimate end and 911 call. Nicholas Brutcher ("Nick") is at the bar having a great time and some guy just keeps harassing him. The guy is standing over Nick and yelling in his ear, pointing his finger in his face until Nick has enough and elbows him. They take it outside but nothing happens, the fight gets broke up. Everyone decides to go home. Police show up at the bar and no one wants to press charges. The cops should have just left but they also want to harass Nick. It was end of shift probably looking to pick up some overtime. Then the cops pull them over. Nick isn't driving. No one wants to press charges but the cops keep harassing and making fun of Nick. The cops surround Nick. There are several patrol cars. One cop pushes Nick to the ground for no reason. They keep taunting him "oh your mother must be proud". Which is what he yells at the cops at the end. If the cops would have just left him alone none of this would have happened. Nick was the victim at the bar but the cops don't care to actually investigate. The cops make fun of towing his company truck and asked him what was his boss going to say. When the cops finally pushed the man to the edge all of a sudden they are the victims of a psycho. Maybe stop harassing people and pushing people and these things won't happen.
Dr. OG's evaluation is epic, on this psycho. Sadly reminds me of a sibling, who has caused unnecessarily so much heartbreak is also toxic, destructive, high conflict, emotionally immature, behaves jealous hateful but hates himself the most, which are the most dangerous kind.
This is a perfect example of why cops can come off as rude sometimes. Not justifying any murders cops committed or when they abuse their authority, but I understand that cops aren't able to let their guard down because literally anyone can be an assailant.
@grottybt5006 it may be a regular cross but from the many times I rewatched the video it looked like an iron cross. I know it's a specific type of cross, that's why I specifically referenced it. If it's not, that's fine but from the video it looks like it and if so my previous statement stands.
This commentary is so false on every level lol thus guy lied from the start all the way to the end lol watch the bodycam for yourselves instead of having this Nerd spew bias lies
Not condoning what he did, but those cops were clearly looking for shit to get into. I know all about those small town cops. No charges were being pressed, and yet they still attempted to look for the guys. They just didn’t realize they were messing with a psycho.
People who say there is no privilege. Look how they treated those cops, and were still let go. They were probably drinking also. Two black men would not have been sent on their way.
Not necessarily. Look how we would have never knee about that interaction unless thus happened.. same is case for other blk ppl who may act disrespectful to cops but get away with no incident... no one knows about it.. only the bad cases make it to the media
For every small man complex, there's a large man complex. Large men often can not comprehend a smaller man having as much or more authority, control, or ability in manual tasks.
The police were provoking a drunk guy and trying to fight with him. You lied about what happened on the traffic stop. These officers provoked and taunted a mentally unstable man. Watch the video yourself.
