putting locks on the freezers is only going to have criminals waiting in the background as a pretend customer requests something that's locked. As soon as the clerk unlocks the freezer the group of criminals will raid the freezer. Walgreens is only helping the criminals to be more organized.
I've shopped at this location many times. They need to stop treating shoplifters like victims, and start enforcing the law. Businesses can't survive under these conditions.
@@RadenYohanesGunawan i dont give a shit if family dollar closes doors, i cant get groceries because i live in the endless mediocre hellscape that is suburban sprawl
Exactly, if SF doesn't protect the businesses, I would absolutely not blame them for leaving. And they will, more and more every month. The city does nothing to stop them.
The stores need to press charges.. This whole, "we just want our stuff back", isn't helping. Press charges! Put these thieves in the system and make it uncomfortable for them. Letting them go just teaches them not to get caught next time. And maybe, just maybe, cut off their hands. I'm just saying. It'll also make them easier to spot the next time.
It isn't, there is not a shoplifting epidemic in SF, the statistics just don't back it up, despite one walgreens being hit over and over because SF Police are terrible
@@override367From NBC news: “Just in San Francisco, police records show close to 2,900 shopliftings were reported in 2022, way up from 2020, when shopliftings actually decreased by 34%, when the COVID pandemic began and many businesses shut down. But the crime rebounded in 2021, with shoplifting reports going back up 15% from pre-pandemic levels” So yea, you’re totally wrong
Why are citizens allowing politicians to do whatever they want? It's their fault. This is what tourists see when they visit the U.S.? How embarrassing!!!!!
We the people actually have a duty and responsibility to do so. But as you can see, elections can be rigged and politicians are not held accountable. The last time American's stood up, Pelosi & fiends called it an "insurrection". The one positive is that it scared the hsit out of those crooked scum career politicians in DC!
Not many far distance traveling tourists visit the majority of American cities because of lack of public transportation which is another negative thing about America
The amount of human rights violations, political issues, and economic uncertainty going on in the world, I'm sure stealing from Walgreens is benign to a lot of tourists at the moment.
If they're not going to press charges, than you're on your own. Police officers are not there to simply collect the merchandise and bring it back to the store. They're there to take shoplifters to jail.
@@bambur1problem is when its thousands of homeless and they all spread the word around even thieves know that rule bring a new face everyday they need to close and stop supporting their behavior
What do you expect. People are born into a high rent/cost state. And are expected to work 2 jobs. You can only work 2 jobs so long til your morals go out the window. I know, trust me. After awhile you realize your already dead if you got no time or energy for anything else
Not a total breakdown. I think this is mostly two types of groups behind the majority of this. Junkies and reparation seekers, mostly everyone else seems to be following the rules.
Exactly. Everyone is walking on eggshells with it. Some career lifters are seriously dark individuals. All it would take is the wrong one being pestered by someone who is just a naïve Nancy... and it'd be a bloody mess. And don't think for a minute that most of these folks have the LEAST fear of the system. Trust me, THEY DON'T. I certainly don't, and I haven't committed any heinous crimes.
@@landor7610 Isn’t that so assbackwards? No one is denouncing these thug’s crimes: We’ve become “The Purge” 365 days a year. And, think about it, when the remaining stores close shop, the thugs will terrorize suburbia.

They already are shutting down, so many businesses have been destroyed by these parasites who see San Francisco as nothing but a free for all, and it's our lack of strong leadership that is the problem.
which is likely the reason why they let it happen, and yes I believe this things are intentional , no severe repercussions and media covering it left and right like theyre advertising it to thieves out there.
Problem is, Walgreens can afford getting hit by burglars. Small businesses can't... They are basically weeding out the competition and monopolizing with this strategy.
I agree. They don’t even have security guards at my local store. People are stealing all day long. I don’t go into the store anymore. I buy everything online now
@@ibrahimkayikci2146 OR they realize the liberal laws that support the criminals. Corporations will look at the lesser of two evils and getting sued by the criminals and losing in court due to lefty cities and judges will cost them more then heavy theft. Stop voting blue, connect the dots people.
I live down the street from these businesses and can’t believe they’re getting robbed this openly without a care in the world. This city has lost its mind and everyone except the sane people think that’s alright.
Ahhh the utopia. I moved from San Fran last month and have been following this crap. I parked on the street where I lived and had my car broken into twice a week. TWICE A WEEK. When I say broken into at first it was the windows broken into and things taken. Now it’s changed to street cam seeing someone reach in as I learned to keep nothing in the vehicle and windows down so they don’t bust them weekly. Guarded parking was around 400 a month. I learned to leave windows down, nothing in car even baby seat as I’m sure they would pawn that. It worked for a while but got old. Hated it. I am out. Not fun anymore. Plus, who can raise a family here. We’re in NY now and it’s amazing.
Walgreen's insurance company needs to not cover any crime in which Walgreen's fails to press charges against. If they want to absorb it, then it is on them and their investors.
If you press charges in San Francisco, then the prosecutor in the city just drops the charges. It is literally a systemic issue known as "criminal justice reform" where they believe less people should be in jail. Wokeness has completely destroyed California.
Or maybe CA should change their laws to make stealing a felony....why should these companies waste their time when the thieves will be back within a few days to steal more?
Walgreens can afford to take the losses. Small businesses can't. They want those shoplifters out free cause those shoplifters destroy their small business competition.
Corporations fired employees now for stopping shoplifters so what do they expect? They probably make more money off the insurance than the actual sales sooo
I think it’s also a company thing. Literally just quit last month because we got stolen from at least 10 times through out my shift and you hear bs from your manager but you aren’t allowed to stop them. What’s super annoying is seeing the same people bring in the items asking for a refund with an old receipt they obviously got from the trash. Even when it says it was already returned the manager still makes you give them a refund so they think they can keep doing it. It’s a horrible job.
It's all giggles and gags until a career lifter sticks a steel barrel in your face and barks a few commands. That usually quiets the junkyard phonies down pretty quickly. In about 3: seconds, they contemplate if their life is worth a gaedaemn Snickers bar, Tony Hawk Tshirt, or a cute miniskirt. Must give us pause.
@@Novastar.SaberCombat well in a normal state (like where I live) good samaritans all legally carry guns and stop criminals. Needless to say we do not have any of this going on. Keep voting for democrats and you will have to keep living with locks on your supplies. LMFAO. You have no freedom. LMFAO
Why would any clerk or employee want to put their lives on the line for a major store chain? I don't care what the thief was stealing. It would not be my job to risk my life over a pint of ice cream or some personal care items. In fact, I would never even work at a store that had this level of crime going on, because sooner or later, someone's going to get shot. Many of these shoplifters are so strung out they almost don't know what they're doing, and some are simply mental or killers. Who wants to get in the middle of that?
Agreed, this situation continues to grow more ridiculous by the day. However, the problem isn’t necessarily the individual price of an item…the protocol is intended to prevent these opportunists from grabbing entire cases of items that they attempt to sell elsewhere. I’m sorry, but this nonsense about thieves bringing the stolen goods back in and then no charges being (filed) pressed is only going to further perpetuate the problem.
It's far, far too late. The word is out. No consequences for ANY crimes. Not even violent ones, baby! 💪😎✌️ Might is right. Stealing is ownership. Violence is key. Take whatever you like.
This is shameful. And the news is telling the thieves to go steal more. This is because I over heard a shoplifter telling the store manager: "Don't record me. It's against the law and you will lose your job. That's what the news said." I was speechless.
So you're literally taking the word of a criminal for it? I knew conservatives had some pretty weird hate against freedom of speech and free media but 'a criminal said it, therefore the free media are evil' is pushing it even for the conservative low standard. 😆
If the shoplifters trying to record you while the store manager is recording him or her somebody should break the shoplifter phone and K O him or her for the rights and to be thrown in jail for trying to shoplift
I miss the days when clerks and store owners could stand for their businesses and themselves now in this absolutely messed-up world the people robbing you can sue you if you hurt them
Nah, it's because the innocent will go to jail and in addition be fired from their job according to new corporate policies if they try to stop a thief. It's just a precursor to a plan for digital face ID before entering a store. The corporations ate in on it, that's why no security stationed in stores.
The "not confronting shoplifters" started because of Dillard's former practice of using off duty cops for loss prevention. They had several incidents where the moonlighting cops shot and killed shoplifters who were not a threat and the company had to pay out 10s of millions in punitive damages.

World's most opulent country should NOT worry about a few drinks and food being robbed. In fact free food and shelter SHOULD BE provided to EVERYONE. What good is all the billions and trillions if people don't benefit?
This explains the accelerated rise in shoplifting - they don't press charges. All it takes is for a few perps to show their friends and acquaintances all the "nice" things they got without paying and that you don't have to worry about getting arrested for it to spread like wildfire.
The store is the problem. We can not keep wasting emergency services on shoplifters. Change your store to a distribution pick up store. The store is the problem.
@@smokingjoe9864 I agree. Pickup and delivery only. Walmart and other stores already do this, so there is minimal need for change. I just ordered delivery from Walmart an hour ago. London is doing a great job. Great job of hiding in her office drinking coffee in The morning and partying at night. Way to go London. San Francisco is a better place because of you.
This is what will convert stores into online stores. Then when that happens we all can thank the thieves that like taking whatever they want without paying.
@@juju-xx5xn the reason they can't do anything it's because if these idiots die from apprehension they'll get sued. Growing up in NY my Mom would take me with her to the furrier in Brooklyn To get in the store you had to be buzzed in. There many stores back in the 70's that had gates and buzzers. Maybe SF could do that. Letting in a few customers at a time. You also had to be buzzed out
It is about time to hire security guards with guns in each establishment all around the United States. In the Philippines, we have a lot of security guards with guns guarding business establishments and it is proven effective in combating thieves and for the safety of the people.
Block the customer entrance doors and allow only walk-up customers who will request items and prices that clerks will get for the customers. No more people should be allowed in the store except for employees. Transactions can take place at the blocked entrance doors with the top 1/2 of the door open. This will make shop lifting difficult and they will leave for other businesses that are easier targets. Our downtown McDonalds is doing taking this approach after too many problems were being caused in the dining area and restrooms.

Texas isn’t experiencing these issues or Florida at the level of Phil, SF, LA, NY, Seattle, Portland, etc. jobs are aplenty. Maybe not in CA as they are a sanctuary state. It’s bad decisions (baby mamas), poor parenting, looking for generational handouts, and horrible state and local leadership.
This is really close to my home. SF NEEDS TO PUNISH CRIMINALS. This has gone on too long and it's just getting worse, and worse, and worse. Rehabilitation does not work. IT DOES NOT WORK. Criminals need to be punished or it will continue, count on it.
Why have stores? How can those poor retailers survive? It's so incredibly unfair and unjust. Maybe they should sell the stores and get out while they can because if it gets worse they won't be able to sell them at all. It might already be too late. Everyone in that area and others like it will end up using Amazon for everything all the time.

In some countries, merchandise is sold using a rotating metal cage. The store clerk sits behind a metal barrier. You put your money in the cage, the clerk takes it and puts the items you want in the cage, then it is rotated to face you.
Even here in the Midwest stores such as Lowes Walmart ect. Are putting fencing with gates up around products in the stores due to the massive increase in theft. You are watching your country slowly die.
This country is damaged no matter who’s in power. Citizens are just now realizing how corrupt politicians and presidents are. Once they take care of the real issues and eliminate the real problem? Yes America is traveling down a sewer every minute we speak. Politicians/government and presidents are all about greed. And citizens have to pay for it.
This is way beyond that. The prisons are trying to keep their populations down. The DAs of each cojnty can really only send repeat felons and killers/(g)rapists to prison at this point. Otherwise, you have a revolving door with people racking up tons of fines and misdemeanor charges but no jail time.

Where I live here in Michigan I used to work security for a big box sales store and we're able to apprehend thieves but now they just let them walk afraid of getting shot so it happens here too especially at Meijer or Walmart per say..
I worked for a large grocer in Colorado and we were instructed not to stop shoplifters and anything under $20 returned we were told to give them a refund without a receipt Maybe stores should have taken shoplifting serious years ago but nope only the bonuses for the managers on up
Tax billionairs, pay livable wages, stop raising rent. Fire politicians who dont help people but help themselves. This is so obvious and yet here we are.
I think this store should put up a wall between a lobby area and the store shelves. People come in walk up to a window and ask for the items they want or order them online. They pay first then the items are brought to them. Criminals would not have access to the items so they couldn’t steal them. And all shop, offers should be arrested and charged $5000 do three days in jail first offense, 3 months second offense, 1 year third offense etc..until they get the message.
That’s because you have a system where you can take and no one gets prosecuted. And if they do they are homeless so they don’t care if they go to jail. If anything it’s free food and a roof over there head.
The problem with punishment is that people who steal these items probably don't have money to pay a big fine and if they go to prison that just means free shelter and food as well as significant cost for society. I'm willing to bet a lot of them have nothing to lose.
No consequences means no consequences. Once that message is crystal clear, it's GAME OVER. It is what it is. Crime pays. Accept it. The system is designed to protect criminals, and therefore... ummm... it's designed to protect criminals. 🙄 I can't keep reiterating the same things without sounding repetitive.
