Work? Work? These trashy people never work a day. Just live b y stealing, selling drugs and off government money. Time to cut it all off. An illegal over 62 can and does get a larger check from government than an 85 year old disabled man who worked since age 14 paying into social security his whole life.
3 days in jail with 3 meals a day, a roof, showers and tv what a good way to punish criminals with tax payer money! Put their asses to work and make them pay for their stay!
That's why people , like jail, rehab, free food, free room, electricity, gas, water, shower, snack, tv, socializing, ...I'm gonna have to go break a store window and or steal a car now. Brb...😊
@@lagodifuoco313 * Per offender, state-run prisons cost an average of $116.89 per day or $42,664.85 per year, and parole costs an average of $16.06 per day or $5861.90 per year. Department of Corrections capital construction costs. (Google - how much does someone in jail cost in Colorado per day) That's a whole lot less than $600 and they can be put to work, saving tax payers even more money through physical labor :)
3 days is ok for someone hiding something under their jacket and trying to sneak it out. That is old school shoplifting and not the brazen nonsense going on today. This video is a straight up strong armed robbery and they should be going away for a long time. Once someone is caught trying to steal something and a store employee tells them to stop it should be a whole different kind of charge.
No wonder they continue the crime, Just 3 days? The United States has the most decay law. The USA promotes, encourage and support criminals to keep doing their dirty deals.
A YEAR in Jail would be a deterrent, not 3 days for stealing THOUSANDS of dollars in merchandise. I for one am tired of paying for these thieves. Put them in Jail doing HARD LABOR to pay for their keep.
AWWWE but they are victims...they were ALREADY IN JAIL OR PRISON by evil mean cops....THE GOV LET THEM OUT....just so they could steal from YOU....to raise the cost of stuff...
The problem is if we lock up all the thieves for a year or more it clogs prison space we need for pedophiles, rapists, serial killers, mass shooters, drug dealers, arsonists, DWI/DUI HOMICIDE CASES etc.

We do NOT need new laws to “deal with this situation”. We need only enforce existing laws. Oh, yes. And NOT releasing violent felons would be a big help, too.

THAT kind of shoplifting almost feels like a terrorist attack. They get away even after fighting store employees. I bet it would be effective if a volunteer detective would patrol every aisle. These creepy people need to be stopped. Also, they should have to leave their backpacks at the door or not bring them in at all. Profiling will be an important tool for obvious reasons.

I got arrested for shoplifting in 1968 because I stole two Hershey bars. Now they don’t want to arrest anybody until they steal $300 worth of items. Shameful.
I think the sissies in Colorado should do what the sissies in California did, raise the shoplifting limit to $1000 dollars a day. That should solve the issue for you sissies.

Be angry at the people who voted for the Democrat politicians that make the laws that literally enable them. Anyone who'd support politicians that make laws that make it impossible to send to jail people who shoplift, has a problem with reasoning things.
When I was about nine years old, I stole a snickers bars from a small local mom and pop store and got away with it. The guilt that ate at me for the next 3 days was terrible! I went back to the store with money for the candy bar I took and I told the owner that I had stolen a snickers bar three days earlier and he said, “yeah, I know, I wanted to see if you’d tell me, or if you would do it again, you made the right decision”. I handed him the money, he set the money back on the counter, pushed towards me and said, “ keep it, your honesty was payment enough…..THIS time!” Man, I never stole ever again and I am now 61 years old. I can’t even fathom being a grown adult and walking out of a store with a shopping cart full of stolen items!! Thanks, Mom and Dad for raising me right, and to that store owner for the lesson he taught me.
I'm in my mid-50s and I stole candy from time to time as a kid (a bar or two at a time) and even took a few small crappy jewelry items from K=Mart and some food from King Soopers. Dumb stuff and I had money for all of it but I liked the thrill. But a friend of mind when we were 13 got caught stealing a Walkman from Target and sent to the police station. That's all I needed to decide I was done with that. I didn't even have a reason for doing it. But the fear was put into me.
A little friend put me up to that, and then another one told my mom and she marched me down to the store to tell the clerk I stole from him and had me give him the money. The kids went right behind us and watched and laughed and laughed. You can bet I never did that again.
I went through a similar experience. I stole a coke from a small garage after my brother and I rode our bikes there. My brother told our mother who promptly threw me the car, drove there and made me tell the owner what he already knew... I was grounded for months and have never taken anything anything again. Thanks mom and dad RIP.
Wow... i loved your story amigo. AlsonI thought I share this with everyone. In 1930, Mars introduced Snickers, named after the favorite horse of the Mars family.
3 days in jail?? That is a freaking joke!!! That is precisely why they get out and go do it again. These people are causing entire companies to close shop, and hundreds of people to lose their livelihoods. And all we are doing in response is a slap on the wrist. So much so that they parked the car in front of the store and loaded without any care whatsoever. Absolutely awful people.
That's exactly what the left want stores to shutter their doors bc who does that hurt? Not the thieves it hurts Mr. and Mrs. John Doe just trying to get groceries to feed their families. The Democrats in power want middle America brought their knees and bow to the satanic globalist agenda. Just wait it's going to get worse bc our dollar will fail and our market will crash. They are disrupting the logistics our food chain starting fires poisoning livestock our air and water. They're going scorched earth bc their agenda is failing and will soon fall but not before it hurts middle America. Just know there are good people in place and this will not last. Prepare now.
Drop the amount to $100.00 - 1st offense 3 days - 2nd offense 30 days - 3rd offense 300 days - 4th offense 3,000 days - 5th offense 30,000 (82 years) essentially a life sentence.
People will certainly do that time without sweating. It needs to be 30 days so they lose their apartment if they get arrested. 3 days is nothing, anyone can do 3 days.
@@JoshMaxPowerthis is very shortsighted thinking. Incarcerating someone isn’t cheap, and at 30 days for $300 we’d be spending 4-6x the economic impact of the crime itself in the first place. Then if they lose their home and become homeless they’d be getting released even more desperate and conditioned for violence. I know more mass incarceration is the easy and emotionally satisfying course, but sorry, we can’t incarcerate our way out of this mess and that ordinance is better for placating voters and scoring political points than anything else.
Jail ? Should be sentenced to a WORK farm , and the criminals should make FULL monetary restitution to individuals and businesses victimized , AND law enforcement agencies , and the judicial systems forced to deal with them . If the criminals are " juveniles " , then their parents or guardians should ALSO be held responsible ! All this warm fuzzy wishy hopey nonsense has obviously failed our society !!!
@@MitchellMaichak-ze7mr they actually DO put inmates to work here. The problem is they pay them so little that there is literally someone in prison here right now for stealing one of my cars in 2011 (and then assaulting/maiming people in prison) who still makes $20 or lower payments on $1500 in restitution. I don’t even NEED the money at this point because I got rich but back then it sure would have helped pay for the damage he did. We need reform in that area because right now it just works out to our local government basically getting landscaping services at the state capitol for under $0.75/hour. 🙃
When this all first started getting bad, I heard so many people talking about how it’s just a corporation, they can absorb the cost. I told them it would start to affect them. They laughed at me. Now they are witnessing it.

If you have the nerve to roll a shopping cart full of stolen items out of a store in broad daylight, then you should have the nerve to spend a minimum of 30 days in jail or potentially other serious consequences.
30 days sentences and the like is what got is to here. They laugh at jail camp ever so often. They don't care. They have no jobs to lose, no house to lose, no health insurance to lose, no kids they care about losing. You as a taxpayer have been carrying those bricks for them since they were born. Theyve been in and out of jail their entire lives. Society has lost the stomach for what works, and society better regain it quick or the taxpayer will have zero say-so in life as we know. This has been going on in parts of the country for decades with very little coverage to pass through a biased media filter. Citizens of said regions have tried to warn people of liberal policies but have been shouted down as intolerant and hateful. The rest of the country will soon learn what such policies will do to a region, it will leave it in ruins. Such virtuous voters will eventually have to concede that those they accused of intolerance weren't so blindly hateful.
@@thatlittlevoice6354 - Exactly, it's punishment... so why are prisoners allowed to sit on their asses all day watching TV and playing games? Make them work. Back in the day, people were sentenced to years of hard labor, meaning they were in prison, but would do all manner of hard work at least 5 days a week.
$300?? How about $0 limit? That only gives them the incentive to shoplift. The guy was just released for shoplifting. They don't care when they're no consequences.
When I sit on a bench over-looking the Niagara River, it's difficult to imagine how different life is over that border. America went from barbarism to decadence without becoming civilized.
And he didn't even miss a beat, which is crazy. Criminals are like crazy pitbulls who feel no pain and only thrive on inflicting pain on others. I wouldn't feel bad to see him take the room temperature challenge.
I was on a jury 20 years ago when the prosecutors were trying to get a gang banger on the third strike. We watched the cc film 20x. The guy stole things and security walked out with him and tried to get him. He turned around I would say “gently” pushed the cart back at security. He was being tried for robbery but we did not convict him. Shoplifting yes, robbery no. The prosecutor followed a couple of us and asked about our verdict. We said it just could not be robbery for what we saw. He laughed and said the judge said it was a long shot, but they wanted him. We were t told until later that a previous conviction was for shooti** at the police. They were out for revenge.
And no one slashed their freaking tires while it was setting there? Should be a week in jail, cleaning toilets in the jail while there and have to pay $125 per night for the stay before release.
A whole three days in jail, that's inhumane. They will get a warm place to sleep, three meals a day, healthcare, possibly new clothing and away they go - terrifying!
LOL. They know it won't do anything but embolden the criminals. They want the general populace terrified and confused. Much easier to manipulate that way.
A year in prison for 600$ worth of laundry detergent. Way to harsh. 600 is equivalent to a minim wage work week. He gets a week in jail. Just for the theft. Now the fact that he got violent with the people trying to stop him. Thats where you can start tacking on felonies. And he and his wife blocked a fire exit with their vehicle. I would imagine that also would be a fine.
@@leonrussell262 Yes those misfits committed many more crimes than shoplifting. I thought stop sticks under their car as they left would of been very helpful
If you see these criminals slash their tires, break their car windows and destroy their vehicles. Because they are causing your stores to CLOSE THEIR DOORS... stop them if you want to protect the stores or be the coward who just watches.
In my state, Florida, if a person physically resists a merchant who is lawfully detaining them or recovering their stolen merchandise, it escalates the offense to robbery/strong-arm robbery.
Don’t need new laws. They can arrest and prosecute under the old laws. You need new people enforcing them and get rid of the corrupt politicians letting the criminals out onto the streets.
Shoplifting laws are generally covered under state laws. Prosecuted by state prosecutors in County court. This community is passing a municipal ordinance/law, that always the city to prosecute and sentence them to city jail time. This is actually a good example of how local municipalities can get around soft on crime prosecutors and judges. This is a municipality that is actually stepping up to protect their citizens from petty criminals. I hope more follow this example.
They should pass new laws allowing stores to physically detain and harm people they catch shoplifting. That will allow security to actually STOP the thefts and criminals to fear more than getting the merchandise taken back.
Ha. He just got out of jail before this heist. And they are proposing 3 days in jail for getting caught. That's time to rest up and eat 3 meals a day and get prepped for the day of release. Hey, I think they just invented a perpetual motion machine. 🤣
3 days in jail plus a court date to decide your real punishment. U can actually get years in jail for stealing if u are a person that has been arrested for stealing multiple times.
In the 80s I worked at Ralph’s Grocery. If a person shoplifted 1 item, the police were called and the criminal was arrested. Now, people just casually walk out with a shopping cart full of items. 😢
I remember a Walmart in Florida took a huge percentage of the time local police spent responding to calls. I think the mentality became if Walmart required such a huge percentage of resources fighting "shrink" they should provide it by hiring additional security, not putting it on taxpayers.
@@bc1969214security can’t arrest anybody and this is still a crime. Period. So you either treat it as one or let these criminals get away with it until they’re where they are now. Hiring more “security” results in the same situation we’re seeing in Hollywood where they wanted to defund the police only a year ago and hire “counselors” to literally stand on the street and watch crimes happen. The residents are pissed because crime is out of control. I wonder why? Maybe they just need more “sEcUrItY”. Or maybe just enforce the law and arrest people? And if Rey-Rey wants to resist arrest and take his life in his hands over a tv or pair of Jordan’s, so be it 🤷♂️ that’s on him
Every time somebody tells you crime is "down", don't believe them. They de-classify crimes as crimes, and then tell you there is no more crime. The Emperor has no clothes on.
Also a lot of crimes go unreported due to the police not responding and people not wanting to go through the extra trouble of filing a report on their own time. This happens a lot in the city I live in.
3 days for stealing? They call this as a tougher law? Give me a break! Its no wonder they keep on stealing! These criminals are laughing at all of us! They get to visit their friends in jail for 3 days!
A joke. Maybe 90 days first offense, 5 years second. Most of these people are doing musical chairs in and out of jail with these short sentences. Judges have too much discretion.
Aurora Mayor Mike Cauffman announced he will personally travel from jail to jail to give each shoplifter a firm handshake and a stern look. He's confident this approach will send fear into the hearts of even the most ruthless thieves.
@@chrishayes5755 What??? Seriously!!! What is that Mayor thinking or is he joking? I dont see any logic in the firm handshake and stern look! It will not send fear into the hearts of those criminals but it will bring them fits of laughter for sure!!!
3 days in jail if you get caught stealing over $300 worth of items? Oh the inhumanity! I wonder why other countries don't have this ridiculous shoplifting problem. We the paying customers are paying extra in prices because of these thug shoplifters.
Because other countries won't let people just leave the store. There are a ton of stores where if you do anything to detain them you are fired. The policy is "Just let them go and call the police".
@@zancrus9629 The shoplifting has greatly increased because they were so lenient due to the covid. Covid is pretty much over now. They didn't want to pack the jail system and the crooks took advantage of this loophole. The whole "Just let them go and call the police" is lame. This problem is literally closing stores down and people are losing their jobs. People who need their medication are having trouble to get their meds because their close local store closed down. The law abiding paying customers are paying the extra in higher prices.
They have always priced items to cover lost stock but obviously losing to much stock and security guards have never been about catching shoplifters but rather as a scare crow but as the criminals have realised getting caught now is probably just a banning notice from the store.
3 days in jail? That's outrageous! I got caught stealing food once. I didn't have any money and I was trying to feed some hungry kids whose parents were too busy getting high. I got 35 days and a 250 dollar fine for stealing chicken nuggets and frozen vegetables. The mitigating circumstances of the hungry kids be damned. Full penalty as if it was a malicious action deliberately made for personal benefit. I really hate this country sometimes.
It used to be only entitled middle class white kids felt that bold and entitled. I remember my friends used to do this all they time when we were teenagers
The current administration and its party encourage this behavior. 3 days is a JOKE. Make them pay restitution, and seize any vehicles they use to commit these crimes.
