It probably is a reference to Hadosho. One of Ryu's taunts is reminiscent to some of Sakura's dizzy animations in the Alpha games, which makes me think he finally decided to train Sakura but he also borrowed some of her moves given that Sakura kinda developed her own style by SFV
Hey baf, do you think that the triple punches special move could be a reference to custom combos? As sakura did originate in the alpha series, maybe they put that move in as a surrogate (different followups depending on bar and what moves you did after the activation)?
Could also be a reference to Ryo/Robert/Yuri/King/Whatever Other Art of Fighting Characters Have A Ranbu, since Dan also does a similar thing (but since it's Dan it's much shittier)
I think it might be a reference to one of her supers in Rival Schools, but it's been a while since I played that game so I don't remember. The main reason I remember this is because there is a MUGEN Sakura that has a version of her Shououken super that also works like Ryo's Ranbu and I'm pretty sure that was a reference to Rival Schools, but come to think about it I don't know if that was a reference to something from Street Fighter or if the author just put it there as a nod to KOF (his Dan also has a lot of shit from Art of Fighting)
Man, this makes me super nostalgic. USF4 was my first real fighting game and I was definitely never good, but I loved playing Sakura (would say she was my main for the majority of my game time). Just super stylish when everything clicked. Had no idea about that triple punch super in omega, that's really neat!
I’m loving the sf4 stuff, even if it’s not new (it’s new to me and I can’t tell). You are super good at briefly explaining characters in old games and it is very entertaining. Keep it up man! Hope you decide to finish omega mode
Omega was a project for the team that was making SFV afterwards, they got to experiment with changing SFIV drastically while the main team just did the Ultra balancing.
Personally, I think it's good that it's separate. USF4 is just every other version of SF4 but balanced (save for Dee Jay and Elena lol), but Omega is just kind of it's own thing. What is weird is that Omega is just a thing in Edition Select that people only started caring about when Baf originally posted these videos like 5 years ago
I mean, why shouldn’t they? The point of usfiv wasn’t to completely toss up the balance and character designs, it was meant to just be an upgraded slightly more tuned of ssfiv, because at the end of the day it’s sfiv. Omega stuff is cool but it’s certainly not as refined as the base game mechanics, change is good but omega was too much change too fast for a non new entry to the series. Making it separate was absolutely the right call, and it added the fun feature of being able to also play with vanilla and super versions which is a win win for everyone.
