@@ggs4869 No they do not. Its gives you three buttons and simplifies inputs for specials, that is it. Definitely need some skill/practice to do what this guy is doing.

@@martincpt204 as a modern control player with very mild prior SF experience i briefly tested modern controls for all the characters in the beta to see how much their kit gets gutted and if its worth it or not. from what I can tell the only character that seems like "i must play classic controls to actually make this character better" is Ken. Ken's modern controls kit feels very limited and gutted from his classic kit. but Guile and Luke specifically felt very good on modern.

@@martincpt204 modern has a damage debuff if you use simplified inputs and you lose a good amount of your characters normals, the amount of moves you lose depend character to character. Luke can survive with the normals he loses, it’s not ideal but it’s manageable, however Ryu loses quite a bit of moves when making the switch to modern so people have said that Modern Ryu just isn’t worth it. Naturally it all boils down to preference, but some characters lose too much for the switch to modern to be worth it, while Luke and Guile can still do their thing with all the benefits of modern controls, many characters will be crippling themselves if they’re used in the modern control scheme.

how are you doing this cause its not working for me either the combos ends with the super or nothing happens

actually, in modern you still have to do a bit of charging in order to do moves like sonic boom or the flash kick. The change is that for doing sonic boom on modern, you charge by holding forward for a bit then pressing the special button. for the flash kick, you hold down for a bit then press the special. instantly pressing the special and the direction will result in nothing happening.

@@yamchayaku Yeah, if you want to do the fancier stuff like driverush into stand MP (which is Auto+Heavy), manual link into stand MP again, crouch MP (which is auto+Medium), then perfect Boom, which must be done manually... then stand LK, then driverush again, etc... all that is manual and requires real work. If you want to get 'more' out of Modern you still need to do real work. But where Modern does shine is if you're okay with just busting out a cheap combo like crouch MP, MP into flashkick, you don't need to charge, you can be as offensive as you want and just Auto+M and the flashkick will automatically come out at the end. Of course it's a cheap, sub-optimal combo, but it's still an option that can remove a small amt of pressure if and when required.

Almost like the whole point of charging was to prevent everything you just said.

@xuses Slow your roll buddy. This guy doesn’t know how to play fighting games very well. He knows how to play cheesy arcade games very well. Spamming the same combos over and over is the lamest way to play a fighting game. Let’s see him on a game like UFC, Fight Night, or Undisputed.

This is the issue I have. It needs to be shown to showcase that the player is actually using modern controls. Or its left to believe the player is actually using Classic and/or hacking to make guile perform like a rushdown character. Seeing the full proof would be nice. It's only on Guile's side which is suspicious

Thats what I’m curious to see myself, im interested to see how many pros play modern, even though classic still has the advantage competitively, theres things you can do with modern you just cant on classic.

There’s nothing wrong with modern controls. You do less damage and lose some moves like chun loses her standing overhead.. etc

​@@Xuses IMHO not only that. Modern controls also can give the opportunity to disable people who want to play Street Fighter. I remember one guy with the nickname BrollyLeg, he played SFIV with one barely functional hand and he uses his tongue to press buttons...(and holly molly, he is Chun Li player😅 do piano input for her lighting legs special move with a tongue is something I still can't believe) So I guess modern controls will be a good tool for guys like him. And yeah, it also helps new players to start with fighting games and after they can switch to classic controls. So FGC will grow and this is a big win for all of us.

Well at least I'm happy it brings young blood to the SF series but we old school players definitely will get annoyed with some modern control players 😆

Why are you trying to tell people how they should enjoy a game? It sounds like you are going out of your way to bash modern, when you don’t even realize that it takes more than execution to be good at fighting games.

That statement alone let's me know you don't really get down in fg's. Nor am I bashing or telling anyone how to play the game. Regardless nothing I'm saying stops anyone from "enjoying" the game. Command input was a bottleneck for players…it’s not that hard dude. You don’t see guitar manufacturers selling guitars that play themselves. It’s just so pathetic. Anything worth doing takes time and effort. I think it’s a generational thing. Btw I have no problem with dynamic controls. My 4 year old can play the game now and that’s who they are created for. “Modern controls” should be banned in competitive play. It’s a joke.

I have never seen a casual who can successfully pull off Zangief's super, let alone the standard spinning piledriver. Who has time to practice for hours on end in a game these days when we're working 80-100 hours a week? People work hard, and working hard in a game isn't one of them. I don't know if people seem to forgotten, but the purpose of a game was to have fun, not to conform to some elitist in a niche genre. Capcom is catering to casuals because their hardcore base isn't enough to keep them up and operating. You're gonna need to get used to that. And if you're worried about casuals with modern controls besting you in a competitive section of the game, maybe you should start figuring out on how to get around that.

@@yamchayaku a common person would pick up a guitar with the intention of LEARNING a new skill. You know, taking the time and effort to learn something new can be very rewarding. It feels good to pull off a difficult link in sf4 and cvs2. Now I see a link and it’s not impressive at all. The 3 frame buffer made sure of that. It isn’t fun to watch a pro perform a combo that my 9 year old can do. It just isn’t. And I understand why Capcom is doing this. It’s called catering to the lowest common denominator. Trying to bring in more players, because it’s a business first and foremost. That doesn’t mean I have to like the fact that they’re watering down my favorite hobby because kids these days (yes, kids, and kids have all the time in the world to learn but don’t want to. Their attention spans have been fried.) I’ve been around since the beginning. Kids in the arcades in the 90’s had no problem learning these so called “difficult inputs.” And that was without all the baby shortcuts introduced in sf4. It comes down to laziness and having the attention span of a cricket. There’s nothing elitist about wanting there to be skill required in street fighter. Maybe you don’t understand because you’re newer. Finally, if you don’t understand the implications of allowing a pro to do a one button super with one direction, you soon will. Modern will be banned by the end of the year.

Again, that's something you're gonna learn to deal with. People with your mindset don't give Capcom enough money to operate that way. And elitists never see themselves as such, but they are.

The fact remains that the genre is being watered down, and for players that have put in the hard work, it’s frustrating and in a way, insulting. I understand the reasons. I don’t “need to get used to anything.” I can be unhappy about the direction of things and voice my opinion. It’s not changing anytime soon. I’ll still be playing sf6 because it’s a fun game and I’ve had a longtime love of the series. I don’t think there’s anything more to say.

You still need to charge. The disadvantage with charge characters in M is that you can't charge down and back and then select whether to go for Flash Kick or Sonic Boom (as it's the same button you press after the charge)

If someone can beat with controls that literally hold back their damage output, while you still retain all your massive damage, you have no argument. Modern Controls are literally playing with one hand tied behind their back in more ways than one, which means more skill.

as a master rank i can telll u i hate modern control players for that exact point u just said.....they aint gottta worry about remembeing all their inputs and timing every move so that it doesn't miss while stilll trying to out think ur opponent at the same time

@@Groovingonem his strikes come out too fast, even his heavys. There's no way you can read what he's going to hit you with. I mained Jamie in the beta, and crushed most opponents, exept guile. He seems the fastest striker.

@@Ugo2sleep he’s always been a problem. I tend to get the best of him being that I’m a Ryu player but his normals like you mentioned on top of his walk speed and the distance of his attacks make him a serious problem. I was just trying him out in the beta and a guy showed up that you could tell knew what he was doing and I had no trouble winning although I’m not a Guile user. Jamie was fun to use! Good luck on maining him! I’ll stay with Ryu but want to add Jamie and Marissa to the mix.
