This is one of the best soundtracks ever, starts slow and sets the atmosphere immediately, progressively builds up to the climax perfectly. And the scene itself of course, brilliant, Sagat's frantic roars as he rushes Ryu like a wild beast and Ryu howling with the power surge as he fires that hadoken. This was pretty much religious stuff for me as a kid.
I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I've ran health clubs nightclubs and strip clubs for the last 30 years and I was their private security to say the least. There's nothing like a good song to get you in the mood for a fight. Certain songs and night clubs they were always fights right afterwards!! Well there was bras or tuffles whatever you want to call them they weren't really fights compared to what somebody like me and my crew were used to. Drunk people that have never trained for fighting it anyway or form are never even a challenge to somebody that's ready for it used to it. Now you take that gorilla on it New Orleans it was 400 lb of 7 ft tall and special forces that was in a fight either it was a draw because if I didn't jump on his back and put them in a headlock or sleeper hold his ass would have eaten me for breakfast. I have never seen a human be able to move like that in my life there was that size. I'm extremely good at what I do I've been doing it for over 30 years and this guy the only reason I'm still alive is cuz he let me stay alive!!
This is the best animated piece Capcom has out there. I wish they could continue with this grounded approach and give us more animated street fighter content.
1:56 that block followed by a 1-2 and a spinning back kick is such a classic Andy Hug counter (Hug tornado), who choreographed the fights in this movie.
I have not been massively into anime but the moment that Ryu launches at textbook hadouken, at a screaming, bleeding, running and deranged-looking Sagat might just be the most powerful moment I have ever seen in the entire Street Fighter universe. For sheer intensity, the only moment that comes close is when Ken Masters launches into a Hadou-Shoryu-ken to break through a skylight in Street Fighter V: Victory. The intensity is so great, it might as well shatter your TV screen! Also the most kick-ass rock soundtrack to an anime of all time. This may still be, all these years later, pound-for-pound, the best video game adaptation of all time. Also, the quotes, the quotes 'Any man, strong enough to kick the crap out of Sagat, IS A MAN I WANT FOUND!'
jokes stupid since its been proven by the creator of DB that power levels meant nothing and youtube channel screw attack pointed out its a joke the creator put into the cartoon, and probably made worse when translated to english
@@snakepliskin23 Beat me to it. Yeah he'd flatten any of the fighters up to the end of Raditz' presence in the series Probably be a match for Nappa even
Oh my god, i just realized that his shoryuken was actually a shin-shoryuken. He flexes his right arm but for the first hit he turns his Body to the right to land a short Uppercut with his left fist and than he performs the shoryuken with right. it also Sounds like he hit him twice
You are correct, Metsu has it's main hit performed right handed. Shin is performed left handed. Also the Metsu makes perfect sense as in SF1 Ryu wanted to win at any cost and briefly became Evil Ryu (overcome by the Satsui no hado) to perform the move, the more destructive one just makes sense thematically.
This is the reason why I became a sensei. Ryu was my inspiration to my career. This film changed my outlook on martial arts. Whoever made this film should have made more street fighters! This was one of the best Anime films of all time!
One of the rare instances in anime where the english dub is undeniably way better than the original Japanese version. The soundtrack in this is just killer
4:35 You can Feel the anger of the God of Muay Thai he refuse to lose against Ryu and it's badass how Ryu remain calm like a Master when a Monster like Sagat are in mode Berseker coming to him.
Extreme youth sentiment for me… I can still feel waves of emotions and goose bumps as I watch this 30 years later… just as I did back then. Such a great and powerfull scene… perfect soundtrack, build up and climax!
I grew up during this era as a kid playing Street Fighter II in the arcade and on Super Nintendo and Playstation. I saw this movie when it was new on VHS. There were like three different versions of this movie. One was the original Japanese uncut movie with a Japanese music score. The other was the censored English dub with an English music score and soundtrack. The third version was the best version in my opinion, the uncut English dub with an English music score and soundtrack. This was the illest movie I have seen at that time. Pure Classic.
Crazy how epic the animation was in this entire film. It's actually insane to think something from the 90s is this good that animation today have never been able to come close. No idea what it is but these days they've just lost that detailed effort aswell as storytelling.
ya cool homage to the game intro. but ryu hadoken never had electricity to it in the game until SF3. ...capcom was deeply affected and influeced by this anime. lol. it still holds up after all these years as the greatest fighting game to anime movie. prefer the usa dub too. it just hits right.
Hate to say it, but this film is one of the few times where the americanized soundtrack did better than the Japanese version. Ive watched both versions and the American dubbing and musical scores is just better in about every way
Sincerely I love this Sagat of this movie they developed it physically and they had a very good Acceptance of this movie was so strong in Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter 4 Super Street Fighter Turbo II HD Remix and Ultra Street Fighter II for Nintendo Switch, now in Street Fighter V returned it skinny and languid Street Fighter II. I do not like his physical appearance in Street Fighter V. Well, I look as strong as him in this movie and in the games that I mention sinseramente. I do not know what Carachos happened to Capcom for the Boss who decided to put Skinny after Evolved in this Movie and in the Games that I mentioned to Ojala Capcom Recapacite and they put it back so strong.
So little story me and my best friend Neil went to the movie store to buy this after getting it one weekend we watched at his house and it was fucking awesome then later in the weekend he made me go buy a different version of the movie.I was like huh? So we ended back up in the same store. You see back then these movies had ratings and so it came to pass that he wanted the other version to see Chun-Li's nude butt and was embarrassed for some reason? I got a big chuckle out of that but ye Chun-Li's sweet sweet ass we will never forget.
To be worthy of having this played at your funeral.... Watching this makes me hate where the years went . And why we allow sycophants to control the board.. The regular working man with a sense of honour and purpose. Even if that's no further than standing straight and being respectful is a beautiful thing...... French revolution mass cull ain't a euphemism. 🤔
