[SFM] The Pikmin Left Behind 

I think that it's the worst when you don't KNOW that leaving Pikmin behind kills them. My first run, a bunch got left at a wall and I didn't think anything bad would happen, and then I saw them get left behind and felt SO GUILTY.

The Pikmin games are sad but they have a silver lining. Each game in which the captain (and sometimes crew) escape they leave the Pikmin better than when they found them. It follows the give a fish vs. teach to fish principle, sure the Hocotians and Koppai use the Pikmin to survive but the Pikmin aquire very useful skills and strategies from working with them. Pikmin usually go from being the bottom of the food chain nearing extinction to the top because they are taught how to overcome their enviroment. The captain escapes and the Pikmin as a species thrive, To hell with the prime directive.

This is reason why I always try a no death run of Pikmin. I'm too attached to them to just let them get killed. I either use purples to stun or instakill enemies or go ahead and use the captains to clear out an area.

Brings back so many memories. It's strange cause it feels like this animation uses actual in-game animation, like it's so detailed that the animations may have actually came from the game.

Yesterday, I was playing pikmin 3. The day was ending and I tried my best to gather up any lost pikmin, but the day soon ended and the captians soon returned to the drake. However, the one lone rock pikmin I have been searching for just bareley missed the hit box for the onion safe area, and I was forced to watch him get eaten. That made me feel super guilty.

I'm glad for the new Ship whistle that calls all Pikmin to the base It saves a lot of time, and a lot of lives

I'd like to imagine that the Pikmin that get left behind are smart enough to escape to someplace where they can make their own camp to live until the captain finds them. If not they'll just survive caveman style.

Years ago, 2015, I watched this. I was fueled with anger, hatred, and depression to what happens to my pikmin. I vowed revenge. Rest In Peace, my brave soldiers. Edit: I am just being dramatic LOL

If you think about it, the white and yellow pikmin are the only ones that survived because creatures don’t eat pikmin that are unplucked

When I was younger this is probably when I first started playing Pikmin when I was 10 or 11, it didn't really bother me. I always told myself, "I can replace them". I am 32 now. If I leave any Pikmin behind, I don't care how much progress I made, I will restart. Maybe it is my OCD getting worse, or me being on the Autism spectrum, or maybe I'm losing my mind, I can no longer leave any Pikmin behind and I will feel guilty. I'm not trying to convert anyone, but it makes me think of the parable of the lost sheep, except with Pikmin. If I have any Pikmin that might die from sundown, I will look for them.

This is why every run, I make sure the sunset death counter stays at 0,

I remember watching this video so long ago that it makes me sort of nostalgic. This theme is heavily underrated and stands apart from the more jovial themes in the franchise.

and this is why i completed ultra spicy without deaths, i feel super bad, and the sins i committed when my 1st playthrough still follow me (+300 pikmin lost).

See, this is why the majority of my Pikmin died with honor in battle. The thought of betraying their trust at the end of the day to just let them get eaten,... sad.

It's bad enough seeing that one Pikmin run back to base at the end of the day only to find that he's too late. But now we see what happens because of our carelessness?! This is one of the saddest videos I've seen. :(

When you hit sunset and you have ten pikmin out on the field and you think they are carrying treasure, then the 10 second timer hits so you check the map and they're actually standing on a bridge do absolutely nothing on the other side of the map and you start to question the intelligence of pikmin they decide to find walk back to the onion seconds to late

my ideal pikmin mechanic: From time to time, Pikmin that are left behind survive. They are leaf pikmin, and they are a new color- orange. These pikmin attack captains on sight, and are in hordes or pairs, depending on how many are left. That way, the pikmin aren't always dead- They survive, rise above the night, Horde up, Defeat night enemies, and hunt the person that could have been able to keep them alive without seeing their compadres die. Not only that, but free pikmin have a small chance to join an orange horde while free, and even smaller while in Olimar's group. These are all whistleable, but if they are left behind, they stay with the horde. Finally, they don't count as pikmin after abandoned- They're your enemies. Maybe you can even see orange onions after they appear in large enough numbers? Who knows.

And this is why I never, EVER, allow any Pikmin to die from being left behind. There have been more then a few occasions where I've reset an entire day's work for a single Pikmin I couldn't reach in time.

Pikmin 4 should add a commanding Pikmin as an optional/evitable boss where it's a Pikmin that learned how to lead the other Pikmin left behind and made an army of forgotten Pikmin. The amount of Pikmin there is to fight depends on how much Pikmin you have left behind(of course the limit is still 100)Now I'm not sure if it should be so you have to reclaim the Pikmin as yours or if you would have to kill the Pikmin. Not sure if the speedrun community is going to like this.

I always feel so sad whenever I leave Pikmin behind. I just picked up Pikmin, and I'm loving it, but I always seem to lose so many Pikmin. And the thing is, during the last 10 seconds, I try to find the last few Pikmin, but I end up running out of time. I wish it was easier to round up the stray Pikmin. It's usually because of automated tasks like collected Ultra-Spicy Spray or something like that.

it may lack some smoothness compared to other animations, but it does get the point across the table

Read the description. This video depicts what happens when you forget to bring pikmin back into the onion. If you've played the game, you would know that this can actually happen and it can be gruesome. This video is suppose to make you WANT to save your pikmin instead of carelessly throwing them to their deaths.
