I've always had a problem any kind of learning that is even remotely structured And, unfortunately, this includes music tutorials. While i have absorbed a lifetimes worth of useless general knowledge from random sources, i have never remembered what i set out to learn. That is, until now. Because there is just something about these Underdog RU-vid tutorials that i find to be exactly right for me and whatever my learning problems are. And in the months since finding this channel my techno has come on more than in the previous 30 years! Now, how about some Drum 'n' Bass lessons as well ? ;-)

I might change my DAW from FL to ableton just because your teaching skills is top notch my man
@BaddBadger
@BaddBadger 2 года назад
I was using Ableton for many years, but recently moved across to a combination of Reason and Fruity Loops. IMO, Fruity Loops just sounds WAY better. Plus free updates for life! But i guess you can either start in one DAW and then bounce stems across, or just sync as many DAWs as your computer can handle. I have come to think that Ableton is best at time stretching, but over-rated other wise. And maybe it's just like Facebook in that it's become the one that people use, just because it's the one that everyone else seems to use. I'm just saying, i think you already have the better DAW in many ways.
@BaddBadger
@BaddBadger 2 года назад
@@dondiegodelavega1695 I hate how you have to construct a song in FL. It feels completely the wrong way around somehow. But for coming up with great sounds and quick ideas, FL is king. I then bounce the stems over to Reason for everything else (including syncing my hardware). Over the years i have learned to hate almost everything about Live. But if it works for you then carry on! :-)

This is similar to how I use vocoder, which has become one of my favorite things to do as i get melodies incorporated into random other sounds. But this method you showed actually looks like it has many more options and ways to adjust. I'm pretty hype to start experimenting with thism

Your channel is great for subtetly, which is something I think I need to work on. I'm good with music theory and composition, so I have all the "macro" elements pretty much on point. Structure, chords, melodies, so on. I always think weird subtle stuff like this is my missing sauce.

The resonator is actually not a bunch of resonant filters. Each resonator is just a simple delay line, where the delay time is tuned to the length of the period time of a pitch. The feedback value of the delay lines is determined by the decay parameter (each resonator decays for the same amount of time), color represents the frequency of a lowpass filter inside the delay line (called damping mostly). The difference between mode A and B is that in mode B the feedback of the resonators is negative (resulting in odd harmonics). The filter part is just prefiltering the signal before it gets into the resonators. Resonant filters would also make sense, but that's more like modal synthesis. An example of this can be found inside Live's Collision instruments (features more-or-less the same process as AAS's Objeq filter) - this is really a bunch of resonant filters (one lowpass, and a lot of bands). The spectral resonator uses FFT for processing, that's why it causes a decent delay time (the more harmonics you use, the more the delay).
