The duality of light and dark (night and day). Seems to be related to Dormin’s origins perhaps? Really curious about these especially the later images and will certainly be looking into them deeper.

Hmm 21 images, i'm trying to connect that if the colossi numbers, 21 ready colossi until they remove that images idea? That can be part of some art book in the game, ideas of symbols.. but is so cool see that secret new stuff to my favorite game (sorry if my english isn't so good, i'm brazilian).

Some of those images which there's a sun, you can see that they are most likely to be a sketch for Dormin's Hole at the Shrine of Worship. That's my guess.

Team ICO 's so weird, they make all this stuff and "pfft, oh well" and leave it in the game code. We need a Criterion edition with every single document, edit, and artwork from every single workstation involved in producing SotC.

Personally I think it may have been images for some sort of narration scene, but the dialogue was yet to be recorded, subtitles hadn't been added, or they just found it conflicted with the game's themes so they just cut it.

If anyone wonders, some of these are Robert Fludd's artworks, as well as Petrus Apianus, and probably some more. Edit: Welp, I just noticed that Fludd was mentioned. Oopsie !

Really interesting! The hole with the sun in it reminds me of either how Dormin's voice is always heard through the sunlit hole in the ceiling, or possibly even the sealing pool - which adds to the Last Guardian tie as well. All the stylized fog in the images also brings the game's map to mind, and how areas still hiding colossi are shrouded in smokey mist. There are also doves in the pictures, which obviously makes me think of Mono and how new doves consistently gather around her the more colossi you destroy. I'm afraid I don't know much about religion so that's the extent I can analyze, but it's definitely a very cool relic of the game!

It seems that the ICO universe is trying to tell a 'prehistoric' story that's a parallel universe of ours. The pictures at the start seems to tell a story similar to the Greek primordial creation of Khaos. Later, Norse Ragnarok (plot-twist! the unbinding world serpent lead the world to chaos is a circular cloud entity). Finally, the world reform to Christians understanding of the celestrial body (there's even 4 angels of cardinal points at 6:32). Where the is a sub-plot about a white bird escape from FIAT(doom?) and later became a black bird, ominously seems to be a harbinger of black cloud. Perhaps it is an ancient prophecy/metaphor of SoC's event where the Wanderer escaping his tragedy but was manipulated into a dark entity of Doom. Even in the final picture of lunar phase graph, the influence of 'clouds' still have quite the impact as it surrounds the planet earth even it is in a space diagram chart.

Surprised no one mentioned that many of the mandalas look loosely like the eyes of the Colossi (the circles' basic outlines, and the spoked patterns).

Sucks that we'll probably never see another shadow of the colossus game or a remake that includes the colossus that were cut from the final game. Team Ico is incredible....but I just wish they had more games than the three they currently have

We can consider this one of the biggest discoveries in the game to date, after all, thanks to this we now know that Robert Fludd was a great inspiration for Ueda(and his team) in the concept for the art and script related to a cycle between life and death/light and darkness. Amazing! Thank you Wisi and Nomad!

At 6:42 the image on the belly ( or back ) of that animal reminds me of the bridge that goes to the main temple. Seeing these drawings makes me think of similar images I remember seeing on the trunks of some trees as well as on some of the rocks in the PS2 version of the game. Some of these images were also in the PS3 remaster but I can't remember if they looked exactly as they did in the PS2 release.

The fith image (1:29) says "Fiat", which Merriam Webster defines as an authoritative decree, and as "a command or act of will that creates something without or as if without further effort" and usees the example of "According to the Bible, the world was created by fiat." This lends credence to the theory that these images are about God's creation of the world. The next image seems to show a stream that looks like something straight out of the in-game map, which may mean Fludd's art inspired the style of the map.

For a second I thought this was going to relate to last years video about the first horned boy video. I do wonder what that's still about, but this is interesting too!

I know I'm way toooooooooooo late but lol I'm replaying this since its free on PS Plus and wow playing it after watching your videos without sleep makes it feel like a brand new game. These mantras are seeing around the world a lot and sometimes even before fights with Collossi, was the lands occupied until someone asked Dormin to resurrect the dead?

I wish they would at least make a book like they did with Zelda explaining the story and people in it. I was 12 when I started playing this game and now about to be 26. I need closure....

This might just be my grasping at straws and idk if it's been mentioned or not, but some of these images are weirdly reminiscent to the colossi's eyes to me. It could just be me tho, I've always thought that the eyes of the colossi were a little eerie, but somehow stood out to me as I played and replayed the game several times over.

Quite interesting how some of those can be actually found in game. Which you called them medallions if I'm not mistaken. (Mostly on some castle entrances) That's some big find specifically from a lore perspective. The day/night, Light and dark or even biblical theories can be more plausible now. Also, I could be seeing things, But some of the images have like a page of book written in it with very faded letters. But you still can see a bit of them

Nomad, I'm like 10 years late to your amazing videos, mostly because I didn't even know much about RU-vid or the internet itself at the time I first played this marvelous game. But as time passed (I'm now 30, working and with little to no time to play videogames as much as I did when I was younger) and I got the opportunity to see my nephew's remastered version of SotC I had so many good memories back and while watching videos on the new version I was lucky to see a comment about you being mentioned in the credits. Thus I found your channel and I'm delighted with all the time, love and dedication you've given to the game. I love it myself and looking at all your videos is like a dream come true... So many mysteries unveiled and others still hidden. This game is magical, I showed it to my nephew when he was a child and he was as enchanted as I was so much that he got the remastered version now he's older and plays it in 3D and super high definition hehehe. I'm not that old, but he makes me feel old xD I just want to thank you for keeping the spark alive and for bringing back so many good memories, when I was younger and fascinated by this videogame, with much more time in my hands and much more happiness in life. This is absolutely wild! I wonder if it has anything to do with Wander's culture? These images give me old Catholic vibes or something of the sort. It does support the biblical references in the game, such as Dormins name (Nimrod spelled backwards, he's a character in the Bible who built the giant temple, which also connects to the Shrine of Worship).

This video summarizes why this game breaks my mind in excitement to this day: mistery and secrets that may seem reachable, but will never be explained as a whole. Never ever Ueda will come out and speak something in the lines of "yeah, that point was correct, and also Wander is this guy, you guys finally found out". All of that plus good concepts bring us to think what the hell went on their mind on the creation of such beautiful world design. Took me some years to realize that I myself desire to create, and as of nowadays, I am constantly processing info on how people came up with their ideas, how was the process etc. And I have to thank this game, that totally changed me back when it was on a jampack for ps2, when me and my friends were so young that we couldnt even find the first colossus (first and only, as it was a demo, my friend's dad found for us xD). So till today, I unconsciously look out for games with secrets and good suspense (even films). And I feel that nowadays games are so plain, cause they cant implement content that will not be fulfilled by the lot, as they have time limit to fulfill. To me the images seem to depict some sort of creation story. The bird that appears in the fourth image and later might have some sort of connection to the bird in the game as well. Could it possibly have been the intro to SotC like the TLG exmaple you showed before they made the cutscene riding to the Forbidden Lands? Amazing how something like this has just been discovered in 2019!

I think that those holes mean the portal which Wander passes by after defeating a colossi and your process while in it and the sun represents Dormin because he is basically a light into the ceiling of the tower...Well thats what i belive at least.(Sorry if the english is very bad)

What a crazy thing to imagine, 14 years after the release of the game. I really wonder if there is an actual connection between these (or some of these) images and the game, or if they are just pure placeholders. But the more I let my mind wander from one of them to another, the more I want to believe that there is some kind of connection. Good God, what a nice find!
