if you ever feel dumb, just remember that ESRB rated this game E, and that the developers of this game gave shadow a HONKING SMG THAT RELOADS LIKE A SHOTGUN
This game is rated E10+ not E there's a difference. This game was originally gonna be rated T but the time of this game's development ESRB had added the E10+ rating so Sega decided to go for an E10+ rating instead of T. Also there is a real gun called a Troy 223 which actually does have a pump on it. Even if said gun didn't exist until 9 years after this game's release.
It had a lot of potential. The gunplay could have been done better and the graphics were atrocious, even for its time. But the level design was top notch and some of the boss fights were really fun. Honestly, I feel like they could use the fuck it energy today. Not like they’re going to make them like they used to, so just go wild with it.
Honestly, yeah, between the original Sonic games up to Adventure 2 and ones like Colors and Generations, this one seems like one of the best from the weird mid-late 2000's 3D Sonic games so far. :p Heroes was okay, I still don't like Secret Rings (I had it for a while but never really played it), and I can't remember what to really make of 06... I still have yet to look into ones like Unleashed and Black Knight though. :p But yeah, the old 90's/early 00's and 10's/20's games seems like what you'd usually expect from a Sonic game. :?
@@indigowendigo8165 from my point of view heroes and secret rings decent 06 cutscene alternated from movie worthy to made in a basement and the gameplay is horrendous because of glitches. Unleashed top teir to this day and black knight great in my opinion better than secret rings
The OP was to show you the two canon routes, Neutral and Dark which Last Story ends at Neutral where Shadow has the Emeralds he has collected alone and if you wait long enough during the last boss fight with Devil Doom, Eggman confirms that the Dark Route is canon by saying he lied about making him and makes his confession he saved him with one of his robots, only lost memory (which is not really all he lost) from that fall and says at the end "you really are the Ultimate Lifeform my Grandfather created.".
That being said even though is not one of the best sonic game it was one of my favorite game in my childhood this game was main reason I become fan of shadow the hedgehog since then
Definitely not the worst sonic game. This is the only sonic game where you get alternate endings, unique weapons/abilities, and an overall new experience for those who have never played this. I loved growing up and I still do. Sucks we never get anymore games revolved around shadow.. or serious toned ones for that matter
This was my Favorite "Sonic" game ever made tbh The branching paths, vehicles, guns, even the story I played it so many times then finally got the True ending and man when I was a kid it just came out at the prefect age for me to really experience it. Shadow was such a cool character always thought Knuckles was dope but even he got surpassed.
There's only a couple of lines we can hear as of the posting of my comment -- But Keanu doesn't play a half-bad Shadow! I was a little bit worried about how his vocal performance would turn out, but he seems to have a really well measured "Shadow" voice. By 'well measured' , I mean he's kind of applying about 70% of exaggerated gravel to his voice -- not too much, but not too little. It fits really well, I didn't care much for the other Sonic movies but Keanu's Shadow might just save this one.

Here's something people need to remember, Shadow was in his Super Form while he fell and if you dont want to believe Eggman's last words in Devil Doom that he only lost his memory and didn't die, do believe because Super Shadow makes him Nigh Invulnerable and that fall gave him 1) A Severe Concussion or a blow to the Head which should've been fatal but it wasnt, 2) Affected his memories and 3) He became more edgy and apathetic because people with blows to the head do behave this way, however the Chaos Emeralds began repairing his body, restoring access to the Chaos Force and restoring his memories and mind as you see him grunt and in pain when the flashbacks showed up, I mean 1 of his memories was him in that pod thing during Sonic Adventure 2 and let's remember, this was before Black Doom and his kind arrived on Earth but it may also be before the events of SA2, either way his Alien kin weren't there and neither did Black Doom experience this AND nobody else was around him when these flashbacks appeared, he was collecting the Emeralds and this started happening minutes after he grabbed the Green Emerald. Also people complain about guns but do you see 1 in these? No so they're not considered canon nor does Shadow think of getting one and you only use them until Devil Doom which is when you get to use Chaos Spear which is again for those who played SA2 Battle, it's the game where they actually debuted in.
There is, Last Story which the OP makes it clear what is, Dark and Neutral and there's a hidden line Eggman has in Devil Doom that proves Dark is indeed canon.
Shadow exhibits the same john wick vibes long before even the john wick characters was made And Keanu Reeves is gonna bring it out in the upcoming movie
*I love how so much of this game is just reused assets from SA2 and Heroes.* The GUN mechs use the mech walker SFX from SA2, the gravity switches in Space Gadget use a pitched version of the haunted switch SFX from Heroes. The Tornado 2 uses the SA2 model, all main characters (except Rouge) use their Heroes models. The ARK levels that take place outside reuse a _ton_ of assets from Final Rush/Cosmic Wall, and look like remixes of SA2's level designs. The Heavy Dog/Blue Falcon boss theme is a remix of the GUN Mech boss theme from SA2. So many things are reused from those two games, I could go on for quite a while listing them all off.
As every Sonic game seems to be in a different version, it makes you ask yourself how they're all in the same continuity, or legacy, or whatever, you know what I mean. 😑
When i was a kid i got scared and a bit teaumatized, because i thought shadow killed Sonic with a shot on the back. Right now i'm just enjoying this badass intro

Because he got Amnesia from that fall, he was Super Shadow after all and Eggman reveals the truth in Devil Doom, he makes a confession which you can find on here.
