Shadowbringers 5.0 END REACTION - THIS ENDING MELTED MY BRAIN - FFXIV Shb Cobrak (Trial + Cutscenes) 

It's time... POTENTIALLY the greatest chapter ending of a darn video game I think I've ever seen. Pretty much all I got to say

I can confirm that watching people react to this scene for the 50th time does not, in fact, get old.

Notice that when he's defeated, Emet-Selch finally stands upright, as if the weight on his shoulders was finally lifted. Also, Ardbert's axe is finally clean during that scene that he's walking back to the Crystarium. So many details...

One interesting detail. Usually trial bosses have titles like ifrit, lord of the inferno or garuda lady of vortex. Emet said "let us cast aside titles and pretense" and in the final fight his name is just Hades. No title. No Pretense.

When Emet-Selch saw you after Ardbert offered his strength, that wasn't Hythlodaeus. He saw a glimpse of....something else. Just think about it 😉

The dungeon's individual areas when put together: "And lo, vile beasts did rise, Leaving naught in their wake but blood and ash Thus did the first doom befall us. It would not, however, prove the last. For soon did the sun bend low, scorching earth and boiling seas. Thus did the second doom break us. Yet it was neither claw nor flame, but our very sins- Stacked to the heavens where they took root, corrupting its halls- Thus did the third doom undo us."

Sophie was right, Emet was baiting you. Yes, he could have effortlessly killed all the Scions and chose to use non-lethal force up to the final battle. The most haunting thing to me at the end of 5.0 was his smile. He wasn't angry or sad; he was happy.

Congratulations. One of the best expansions or just plain video games I have played in a very long time. That is. Until 5.3.

The two of you simultaniously making the same gesture as Ardbert appeared was priceless

When we said Welcome to Shadowbringers with Tesleen, we knew because while that was an emotionally shocking moment, but also because the expansion as a whole would give you a wonderfully crafted, and satisfying ride through your emotions. And while the ride is not yet over, I once again, happily, with open arms and a box of tissues, say, Welcome to Shadowbringers.

I've never been so emotionally destroyed by a game as i was during this bit, and the next MSQ bit. It was...it was just.... SUCH DEVASTATION

And some tidbits: What G'raha Tia did was summon a canon Duty Finder! The form you guys took for a split second IS an Ancient/Ascian, but might not be who you're thinking. ;3 Last thing: Remember what Hythlodaeus said to you before: "Emet must've seen a hint of "him/her" in you." (Fun fact: Pronouns depends on your gender!) Glad you guys had such a fun experience! But the journey ain't over yet! Just a little more and you'll be in the Endwalker Waiting Room with the rest of us! xD

If you recall a comment on your Tsukuyomi video that said in a huge poll for the best Final Fantasy bosses across all the games, Tsukuyomi came in at #2 from FFXIV specifically (and #14 overall)... Well, you just experienced #1 from FFXIV, and #3 overall. One of the best experiences I've ever had in a video game, and I'll never get tired of watching people go through it for the first time. Emet was such a damn good character and antagonist. Amaurot was an incredible spectacle too, both the city and the dungeon. edit: also, remember in the trailer the little Gremlin's words? "Who are you? No one. Nothing". Bet they sound familiar now too!

There will never be a time where watching these cutscenes won't make my hair stand up.

You are the first person I've ever hit the notification bell for, couldn't wait for this to come out! Been loving the videos!

That was a wonderful reaction video! Congrats you two, fellow new old friends, eight times rejoined! for clearing Shadowbringers 5.0! It was a wonderful journey but there's still more, so please look forward to it! Another goodbye to Emet-Selch... Standing tall at the end, all his sadness, loneliness and grief seems gone, in a way. I think he finally accepts you [two] as new stewards of the star. Remember, that we once lived ❤️

Interesting fact: The one and only time Emet stops slouching and stands full upright is only after you beat him and he's no longer carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Thus: 'Remember us.' He's passed his burden on to us, in a way.

I cry every time the shadowbringers music kicks in during that Ardbert scene

One thing to note when walking back into town, his axe is clean. Also, go show the Exarch the gift you got. :3 It's less that Zenos wants more people to hunt, and more that Black Rose would take his prize.

now I've always felt that Emet pulled the same scheme the Exarch was pretending to do. during the final scene with him, when he asks you to remember him, he is finally standing tall, as though a great weight has been lifted. and of course, he smiles after your character nods. also, now that you've both completed 5.0, you might recognize that the scenes containing the scions in the Shadowbringers trailer, were actually cinematics for the time they'd spent in the first prior to your character's summoning.

"All we've got is just the Pre-Endwalker Stuff." Well...

I must admit I been following and waiting for 5.0 end since welcome to the shadowbringers moment and now am happy =)

I'm glad you enjoyed the ending of 5.0 so much! Thank you for these reaction videos, they're so much fun to watch! I'm just a few days ahead of you, I went through this with some friends who were also new a bit before you posted this, and it was such a rollercoaster, I loved it. This expansion really pushes the theme of love in all its forms and it feels very special. There are so many nods to previous parts of the story. The line where it says 'we who walk before may lead those who walk after' is almost the same as a line in Answers, the theme of ARR, which has a very different feeling to it post-ShB; and Dulia's line "I couldn't bear the thought of... of..." is the exact same as Haurchefant's line after he takes that hit for you (this may be coincidence because it's not exactly an unusual line but I felt it was notable). I love that we use Ardbert's axe to spend the light we were carrying. The game also did a very good job of hitting home that there are no 'good guys' and 'bad guys' - everyone is just doing what they think is right, however much it may sometimes hurt others. Emet-Selch ultimately just wanted to go home, as does everyone in this story. He is a fantastically written antagonist. It also did a great job of making us care so much about not only characters we've spent a long time with - i.e. the Scions - but also characters we only met very briefly in ShB. I'm just in awe of the writing. Also, I've only watched the cutscene once so I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure after we get out of the water during the credits, Urianger is floating somewhere in the bottom left of the screen

After pretty recently farming Hades EX with my raid group for mounts, I was reminded of the one greatest truth about Emet-Selch: he is, above all else, a massive drama queen. It's part of what makes him such a great character.

If you guys don't plan on levelling the other roles all the way to 80 (so, a tank, a healer, and a physical dps) I highly recommend looking up videos of the stories for those as they give MASSIVE exposition on Ardbert, his friends, the flood, and the ascians. Completing all 4 role quests unlocks an extra one and this one also ties into the Warring Triad from Heavensward if you've not done that series, either. I'd also recommend going through ShB's Eden raids alongside the post-MSQ instead of putting them off for later as, while not required, it gives Ryne and the First a lot of closure in a post-flood world.

You made it! The journey to the Endwalker Waiting Room is nearing its end! There is maybe no moment quite so hype in any game I've ever played as when the light coalesced into a warrior's axe. Glorious.

I like how she asks how have you been sleeping on this game? This and swtor are fantastic story driven MMO's. I love playing both of them, and both have expansion coming soon. This end of the year is gonna be a great one.

It’s a nice touch at the end when he smiles, he is no longer slouching. He’s standing fully upright, when he recognises you. Remember that Hythlodous said you were his close friend in the ancient past, along with Emmet. Don’t forget to do the Eden stuff if you want more with Ryne.

Ryne's story continues with the ShB raid, Eden. Also, there is an additional sidequest involving F'lhaminn in Mor Dhona after you finish patch 5.1, Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty. No special reward. Just additional story. The title of the quest is, "One Final Journey".

Looking over the edge in between GCDs is the mandatory rotation in the Amarout dungeon. 😉 As you know, the Warrior of Light is voiceless. That goes for all the trailers as well. But, think back to the trailer for Shadowbringers, where the Warrior of Light is fighting the sin eater, switching between different jobs... When the Warrior of Light rushes forward as a Warrior, axe in hand, he shouts a warcry. That is not WoL's voice. *That is Ardbert's voice.* And I love so much, how even the trailer ties into all the intricate details that is Shadowbringers - no, that is Final Fantasy XIV. 🥺❤️ Thank you so much for this wonderful reaction video. I haven't watched a video of yours in about 2 months very much avoiding them as I saw them since I myself was moving from Heavensward into Stormblood and then eventually Shadowbringers. It was about 10 to three this morning way past by working day bedtime that I completed Shadowbringers 5.0 and it was so much a doozy the Epic story leading up and completing the fight. Now i can finally watch your reaction and relive was was few hours ago. One thing I can say is the lighting of the last dugeon events was super incredible lighting and shading, just Epic in color and lighting. I will also hands down say that "Emet Selch" was my absolute best and most riveting character. Every time he was around was just transfixed on his character and such a well done character in any story i've ever read or seen. Loved it all.

11:51 is still my favorite moment in any form of entertainment media ever.

Something I noticed fairly early on about Emet's 2nd Hades form is he has a very prominent single horn... just like every set of Summoner artifact armor. It seems fitting given what we're told in Amaurot of how the Ancients used their creation magic, having a concept of something and bringing it into being. Very reminiscent of how Summoners call forth the pure essence of primals in their egi forms. I think of it as another one of those echoes of the ancients that's been unknowingly passed down through the ages. Or perhaps it was simply Emet who originally taught mortals how to summon. I could even hear him saying "You know, that outfit would look MUCH more impressive... with a horn."

The cloaked figure wasn't that spectre we met in the city. It was us, reunited with Ardbert, who is another fragmented part of our soul. Emet was seeing us as we were. His old friend.

We'll never forget you, brother.

Funny enough you noticed the Gremlin in the trailer saying the same thing as Emet. Fun fact that Gremlin is Emet. The team that does the trailers didn't have Emets assets yet so they used a Gremlin instead, in the same vein that they used a red version of Hraesvelgrs model for the dragons in the HW trailer. Further more, as always an incredible video. You both finally made it!!! Now you just have the post shadowbringers patches that close out the Shadowbringers story and lead into the set up for Endwalker. It's been a hell of a ride. Can't wait to see the rest of the journey.

one thing people sometimes forget is emet doesn not see it as killing as much as rejoining each soul to a sole body.

16:45 when I did this back when it was released, someone in our group *insisted* that you had to soak all of these (even after multiple wipes), even though they give the typical vuln debuff to tell you you messed up. So we ended up getting past that phase with basically everyone having 3+ vulns for no reason, good times.

Loved it. Other people covered slight additions or observations in their comments so I won't double up lol, but the next journey is to 5.3 - that's the big one, end of shadowbringers fully and start of set up for Endwalker. Enjoy the ride :)

Welcome to being 8x rejoined and being the closest mortal to godhood (well along with Ryne who is also 8x) I had to take a good long sit after this when it was the true end of the MSQ at launch. I still am obsessed with the repercussions of this ending
