There is actually a major problem with the Crusader aura. It is replacing Heart of the Crusader. Heart of the Crusader actually affects Divine Steed in that it speeds it up. By removing the passive, and making it an aura that is almost never going to be on, Divine Steed has actually become slower. Something Paladin has never needed was a nerf to its mobility, and yet nobody seems to notices that they have actually become slower in Shadowlands.
5:38 "critical hits while under the effects of avenging wrath from ret aura have a chance (low%) to resurrect a fallen party or raid member at 50% hp" could be interesting. Maybe disable the res in arena altogether.
Re: Auras, I'm sure the design decision was to only have 2 Auras that are "mandatory" in raids (Devotion and Concentration), so the other Auras needed to be either really niche (Ret) or just have some outside utility (Crusader). With 12 classes, having more than 2 useful "raid" auras would create too many problems. FWIW, the new Ret Aura is going to be fun in random BGs, when defending a flag you'll have wings up the entire time.
I really felt disconnected with the class ever since WoTLK ended and they decided to make paladins about combo points. Is the gameplay on paladins very satisfying? I heard enhancement shamans are satisfying so I may main that in shadowlands
Shaman is looking great in SL to be honest, the recent changes have most people on Alpha are very happy with how they are looking...plus the Shaman Legendaries look like they'll encourage many different types of play styles which is always nice.

give me final verdict and im mostly happy but its the little things too they need to edit like devotion aura would it kill them to make it as is 4% or even 6% shit also they need to change our new talent empyrean power to 20% or 10 % of attacks trigger divine storm instead of weak ass crusader strike or make it work like old final verdict make templar verdict make your next divine storm do 50% more damage or whatever with the 30 yard range also gap closer wise long arm of would be great to have again to be a bit more mobile or give us speed of light baseline
You just described BfA ret gameplay XD All this "new' abilities are used as default on BfA ret anyway, aside from crappy consecration. Even retribution aura is kind of passive in BfA and they made it a choice in Shadowlands (ret have this thing that buffs damage they do if someone dies, in BfA). So, gameplay wise sounds like playing just the same, more or less.
It's definitely not just you, Retribution Aura is terrible. You want to use it proactively, to get the buff but you can't always predict when someone will die AND auras are on the GCD! So even if you saw someone dying, you'd have to have enough time to click it LOL. It was an AWFUL passive in Legion/BFA and it's a TERRIBLE Aura in Shadowlands.
The big changes i see on retri pala are: -wake of ashes got nerfed and goes baseline(~Bad) -word of glory got nerfed hard (heal less then before and less ppl) and goes baseline(very bad) -hammer of wrath goes baseline(nice but doesn't change a lot) -they destroyed consacration for retri(almost deal no damage)(bad) -they give us the old azerite trait(empyrean power and light decree) but now we have to choose between them and other talents(~bad) -They give us the most boring choise of talent (seraphin+inquisition)(bad) -Auras are back(first real good news) -They removed blessing of wisdom/kings(Bad) ... in which way ret paladin got better? Imho we only got nerfed and they removed the things that was making us unique (off healing in m+ with word of glory+ blessing of wisdom/king). Change my mind. Ps. I'm talking as a main ret paladin 12/12 nya mithic
As u said all the changes are more on the 'not a big dead' more on the 'flavor' side but no actual impact, I only played ret and so far in shadowlands it looks boring and nerfed(crusade aura and retribution aura we had as passives and retribution aura even had something aditional as it also decreased damage taken when someone died and now I have a global cooldown on them as auras oh so cool, thinking that I have to pres gcd retribution aura in arena cuz my partner may die instead of trying to heal or help him brings depression:))) even tho in bfa it was the weakest in pve/pvp especially where it was just a wheelchair, and now 3 min cd to wings? when that s the only dmg dealer. The feeling it gives is that I should reroll to a rogue or just skip this expansion.
Wings is still a 2 minute CD, Holy Avenger (the triple Holy Power generator talent) is 3 minutes. But I will say, if you only want to play a Paladin for Ret, then you might be disappointed as it does look like the least interesting of the three specs right now. I tank and heal as well, so Paladin just makes sense to me. If I just wanted DPS that had the flavor of Ret, I'd go with Warrior or DK because both look pretty great in this expansion to be honest.
