Great review! I was in the same boat, I think I prefer my Shady Ray's though. The more resistant arms secure them better if you hang them from your shirt when you head inside.
Good review. I have a pair of Holbrook and Shady Rays. The Holbrooks feel better made and the Prizm lense is pretty amazing. I picked them up on sale for less than $70 which still isn't cheap, but better than MSRP. I got my Shady Rays for BOGO and for the price they are good. I'll wear them for activities that I don't care if they get broken or lost like playing outside with the kids or kayaking.. Somehow the lense is already scratched on my SR which I don't get because I take care of them and they're always in the bag unless I wear them. They feel cheaper made compared to my Holbrooks. I like my Os better, but hard to justify unless I can get them on sale. The SRs are a good deal for the money, especially if they hold up or you get them on a good sale too.
The Shady Rays do a great job functionally, but the frames are a little too light and flimsy. I had a pair of gas station knockoff Ray Ban Wayfarers that did the trick for me. I paid $10 and they lasted three years without a scratch. After I lost them, I thought I would try the Shady Rays. I think $36 is a little steep for their quality. They are on par with any gas station sunglasses as far as quality of material.
I bought a pair of Ray Ban Wayfarers a few years ago and they are definitely not made of glass, and yes I did buy an authentic pair from an authorized retailer. Maybe not all are glass?
Rayban quality is worth the price, especially when you find deals on them. Shady Rays are jus discounted sgs like eveyone else. Nothing to worry about.
I can't see myself justifying paying 2-3 hundred dollars for a pair of sunglasses regardless of the quality, ray bans are way overpriced even for there quality
Ray Ban will replace your lenses for cheap if they scratched. Of course not for $10.00, but they are high-end sunglasses. Anyone who says that Ray Bans are overpriced has never owned a quality pair of sunglasses before. I love how they didn’t hold up, and the lenses scratched easily. But the Ray Bans aren’t worth it. 😂 I’ve worn Ray Ban for forty years and besides the pair that I lost once, the only reason that I have replaced a pair is just that I want a new pair of sunglasses. Plus, the stitching on the case on one pair started unraveling, so I called Ray Ban. Not only did they send me a new case for FREE, they sent the most expensive case that they sell($40.00). This case is an extra purchase and doesn’t come with any pair. On top of that, they sent me a 30% off no restrictions code for whatever I want to buy next. This is something that people who are used to owning high-end merchandise knows about. Not “Well. I own two pairs of sunglasses. Yep. Ray Bans are overpriced.” 🙄 GTFOH with that 🐂💩.
@bobbyjenkinsjr.397 ray-ban is extremely over priced. I have a few they scratch just like every other pair of glasses. They are all made well but 230+ for glasses is absurdly overpriced. Only time I get them is on a deep sale. Same for Costa and Oakley. I have 3 pair of Costa one of them scratched pretty bad not even 6 months old and all 3 of them the rubber is breaking off. So tell me again how any of these glasses ranging from 200-300 dollars isn't overpriced again?
