Its so crazy how you can watch three or four live videos of him playing the same song and it sounds so much different every time. And then if you listen to his recorded version its almost unrecognizable because its done so differently. Its so incredible.

I know in the song Built to Roam from this same set with the same guitar he uses an Open D tuning. You can hear it several times in the song when he strums without fretting.
all of these recordings are bossy - better then his album recordings sadly - i love the vocals and sound. Makes drinking beer and relaxing and singing with my brother even more enjoyable

This is a good example of the fact that just because technically you can do something and do it skilfully doesn't mean it is actually good. I have seen 4 of his videos so far and it wasn't until I got to the one by the pool with the shaking girl that it hit me. They are a lot like kids who sit behind the wheel of there family's car and go "broom broom". It sounds good but it means nothing.
Huh? He does it skillfully and it sounds good but it's not actually good? You don't have to like it, but your criticism should at least make sense. Your analogy of children making noises in the car makes no sense. That requires no skill or talent. He's playing three instruments at once and singing a well-written song with conviction. Most people (like you) couldn't do any of it. If people enjoy his music then saying it means nothing is 100% false.
Jason, you are welcome to your opinion. It made more sense to me than the "replies" to your opinion. Art is so subjective, calling someone an idiot doesn't sit well with me. It's not like you can measure music with a radar gun......unlike the speed of a baseball.
Good point Butler. Three instruments at once and singing on top of it all. Have you ever been to a three ring circus? They all have skill and talent, but there are three rings to stop you from focusing and scrutinizing in on just one act. If it was really something special they would have their own show like a solo act. Graves is the same way. People like his flash and bang and are impressed they wouldn't be able to do it. Just like the circus. Entertainment? Yes, but as for "good" its just not there.
Just because YOU don't like something, doesn't mean it isn't "good." Get off your fucking high horse. As far as technicality, the only thing he is doing that is technical is his guitar work. You're one of those idiots who you're talking about that sees him kicking a bass drum and a tambourine and thinks he's doing something "fancy" or skillful. You obviously are not musically inclined because is just like tapping your feet and playing the guitar, its not that hard if you have rhythm, it's just a nice touch and a nice sound. He can sing, he can play guitar, and he can tell a story...sounds pretty good to my ears. Btw, your opinions come off factual, that's why you're hated, you're no one special so give him a break.
This guy rules but he looks like he's in agony when he's singing. You can see all the veins and muscles pop out in his neck. Not good for you to sing from the throat like that.
Complete trash compared to the OG way he used to play these songs that got us hooked on his old-school sound. Sad to say but this just ain't the same and his sound will die in obscurity if his old sound cant be found on youtube as it seems most old stuff just seems to disappear somehow. Older is better in his case...
