I saw these 3 at the Astoria theatre in 78. The Elvis musical. Brilliant stage show. 😎 I was 14. Been a Shaky fan ever since. Seen him perform 3 times. Great fun.
2 days after I saw the show for the first time I was 14. I went on to see the show in various guises over 30 times. Not as many as some. To hear and see the video after all these years is amazing, Thank you for posting, I understand when the show won best Evening Standard Best Musical the cast performed any sign of that? I also know that Paul Felber videoed the show at Richmond Theatre wonder where that is. Any other clips? Thanks again Brilliant.
HI - THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS. THIS IS THE ONLY FOOTAGE FROM BLACKPOOL BONANZA THAT I HAVE. AUDIO IS ON THIS CHANNEL FROM ELVIS THE MUSICAL AT THE PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE IN 1996. SORRY NO OTHER VIDEO IS AVAILABLE FROM ELVIS THE MUSICAL 1977/8. REGARDS STEVE.
Yeah i was the same age 14. Went to The Astoria Theatre. Remember it like it was yesterday. Was the greatest shiw id ever seen. Brings back great memories. Watched the show came out and then there was an IRA bomb scare, went from shear joy to sheer terror, but i remember my big sister who lived in London telling me not to be afraid that they would never stop the Londonerx doing what thdy loved
Paul Felber as in the tall bloke dark hair and very low voice, who was one of the male singers. When you menfion him recording it at the Richmond Theatre, was that when the show went on tour? With Bo Wills? Was at the last show Shaky did at the Astoria and later in Winter Gardens Bournemouth. Then Bo took over. (He was bloody good too)
Jim thank you so much for posting this. Found it today (by accident) after watching Shaky This Ole House HD premiere. Saw the Elvis show as an 11 year old and have been in awe of the music ever since. Have subscribed to your channel ... you have some wonderful uploads.
Was curious to watch this, and I mean no offense but this musical teaser unfortunately didn't impress me enough as expected them all to sound better than this. However I do like Shakin' Steven's in the 1980's onwards. But when you think of it Elvis did have an amazing voice, so pretty hard to sound just like him I suppose.
Fabulous to see ths again.I saw the show many times in 78.This video was ruined by some stupid woman's voice shouting out all the time. Not sure what that is about !
Horrible little man Daniels was and Shakin Stevens was just a hypocrite. Always refused to acknowledge how good Elvis was even though he'd have had no career had it not have been for Elvis!
Nun ja, schöne Erinnerung an Elvis Presley, aber mehr nicht! Kein Vergleich! Und sorry, obwohl ich als Teeny ( nun 47 ) Shaky geliebt habe, singen konnte er nun wirklich nicht!
David Gibbs shaky got where he is because of hard work shaky was singing before he played Elvis and Elvis owed a lot to the black people that he stole songs and dance moves from but he never did anything about it and Elvis owed a lot to his wife for putting up with his chronic drug use and constant cheating on her for so long it pisses me off when people act like Elvis was a god and shaky wouldn't be anything if it wasn't for Elvis shaky is himself
@@lanaprowse3269 Elvis was no saint I agree but Stevens was an out and out copy of the Elvis of the fifties.Simple as that.Knocking the King doesn't take that away I'm afraid.I am a big fan of Stevens and bought all his singles in the 80s which are brilliant .It is his persona rather than the music which are Elvis inspired.
@David Gibbs finally!! Someone who doesn't just come on here writing sycophantic comments about Shaky. You are absolutely right. Despite what the ldiot above me says. Shakin' Stevens refuses to acknowledge that Elvis was an influence on his career - how pathetic is that? He ripped Elvis off and would have been nothing had it not have been for Elvis. Shaky has always been arrogant with a bad attitude, even now at 75.
These sort of tribute acts leave me cold. All of them are poor and embarrassing, they should never have seen the light of day, not least coming just one year after Elvis died. Should be a blanket ban on such acts. If people wish to wallow in Elvis nostalgia, then play his records or watch his films. These stage acts are utter crap.
Kilkenny for your information this is not a tribute act they were hired to play Elvis in the musical Elvis which was a huge success for 19months two shows a day for 19months proves you very wrong it was done as tribute to Elvis because of his death and each one of these acts played Elvis at different ages from his life they just left out the parts where Elvis was constantly high on drugs and could barley stand up and always forget words to songs because he was so high and they left out the constant cheating on his wife
