The family have made their decision. The girl has made her decision. As long as both are aware of the consequences that come with their stances then there really is nothing more to be said. She understands that dating Shakur comes with the disapproval of her family. The family understand that disapproving of her relationship and disowning her means losing out on a relationship with the daughter. All that remains is for the two parties to respect that they cannot tell the other party how to feel or how to act going forward. Everyone now needs to make peace with the consequences of their choices.

Louis Lentes That is understandable. There is no harm in wanting to keep things within the culture, it tends to work best for all parties involved when people have shared identities and values. The family have their right to an opinion and I do not necessarily fault their stance, though rather extreme relative to the times in America. The girl ultimately will make her choices and unfortunately choices in life do come with consequences. Within reason, no one should be dictating to anyone else how to live. Equally, no one can dictate that others should be accepting of how they choose to live. Given how far apart the family and the daughter are on the issue it may actually for the best if they all go their separate ways.
