Great natural look. Adore the checkerboards moving the leaf litter.

Thanks, Paul! Most of my scapes are pretty trial and error:)

You did a great job. Quite honestly I like this look so much better. This don’t look as cluttered as before. Those cardinal tetras are plump 😅

Thank you! Yes, those cardinals are always hungry!

Glad to hear it worked out! :) You can count on the pennywort to cover the whole thing. I definitely like it. ;) And if you hadn't seen my answer to your question on one of my videos: My tetras are Hemigrammus filamentosus.

Thank you! I previously used to have setups with tons of emersed pennywort, so I'm hoping to replicate it. I saw your answer on tetras, but I think I forgot to respond! They look interesting as I've never seen them before, but I agree that they probably add a bit too much movement to your otherwise calm setup

Nice job! I think the current iteration of this tank works quite well. I'm not a "lid" guy per se but I can appreciate the obvious virtues of it here.
@tropicalfishhub
@tropicalfishhub Год назад
Thank you:) I am also hating lids as they block all opportunities for emersed growth!

Looks great now. Very happy you got it sorted eventually so you can relax a bit and enjoy the set up. Pity about the need for a lid but I'm sure you'll set up more tanks in the future that you can use riparium planting with.

Thank you! Yes, indeed I moved most of the riparian plants to an unheated tank in the fishroom and they seem to be doing well

Happy to see this result. Looks great and indeed very natural. The pencil fish is Nannostomus beckfordi for sure. Adding a few Chilodus gracilis/punctatus would also be nice. They don’t grow that big and will surely add to the natural look. As for the Hydrocotyle leucocephala, if you give it a bit more space above the surface and something to hold on to, it will grow beautifully above the surface and sometimes even bloom. Just an idea.
@tropicalfishhub

Thank you! I was certainly thinking of Chilodus as they would be biotope correct. They quite difficult to source here unfortunately

@@tropicalfishhub Hope you can find Chilodus. They are very beautiful and super interesting to observe. I bought a small group of five tiny specimen a while back. Unfortunately only two survived but they are thriving and growing now. Hopefully one day I can expand the group a little. Keep up the good work, love your tank!

The tank looks great! Could you reintroduce the swords and use root tabs? I have the same polycarbonate lid on my riparium tank, and made a timber frame to support the light.

Thanks, mate! I was thinking or adding aquatic plants back in, but I'm concerned that there isn't enough light for them because of blackwater
