I'm super pumped to have finally found an anchoring solution for the #topgunjonboat ! For years I have contemplated building a diy version of a power pole for my 14ft jon boat. I'm now glad I never took the time to do so.
Enter Roy, from ROYZ SHALLOW WATER ANCHORS. Roy has done the leg work to create a viable solution to a common problem in the tiny boat community. An easy anchoring solution for jon boats. Royz shallow water anchors are simple to use, plug and play fast install, and built to last and keep you anchoring down for great days on the water.
In this video I'll show the #shallowwateranchor up close and personal, show you the quick and easy installation, go over product dimensions and materials, disclose product options available, share product knowledge, and of course give a full demonstration of the anchor on the water.
This thing is bad to the bone. Hope you enjoy 😉
May your tiny boat builds be great.

Your absolutely right. I'm confident to say, because I know a guy who has the same setup on his bigger boat he runs flats in Charleston SC in and says it holds phenomenally in wind and current. Also I've fished windless days and still drift out of place so this will help wind or not. Perhaps an update in future, I super busy with customer builds and it was a chore to do this video, sorry there was no wind the one day I film a video when it's windy every other day, lol

Question: Without a spring, and due to its light weight, what holds the pole in place? It seems to me that due to it's light weight the "Point" wouldn't dig-in well enough to anchor your boat. Great video! I have a 17 ft. aluminum 8ft beam and a Merc 50 and interested in a Royz; if it will hold my boat. Thx.

Alabama will be hell on wheels next year, people forget this was their "rebuilding" year.

Only using one anchor pole, does the boat swing around in a circle with the wind or current? Would you recomend two if you had the room?
@TNAROHfan
@TNAROHfan Год назад
Yes with any one shallow water anchoring the boat will allow it to slowly circle around the anchor depending on the conditions. You definitely need two of something for anything but calm conditions. I currently run a Power Pole micro anchor on my 18 foot jon boat with a Venon Downright attached to my trolling motor, but have never been totally comfortable about this setup. It holds fine, but I have always been a little paranoid about putting stress on my shaft and I already have so much crap on my bow that I don't want to add anything else there and I don't really want to add another micro for battery reasons and a complementing manual pole on the transom would kind of defeat the system I have now where I don't have to walk back to deploy. I've been thinking about trying these Royz out for a while now, but have honestly been worried about the how well they would anchor. It seems counter intuitive and I have never found a straight answer about just how much weight this anchor is capable of dealing with. 800 bucks for two is kind of risky!

Im not exactly sure how string the current your talking about but we have sold a ton of them and guys are using them on mud boats in rivers and we know guys using them in Charleston SC on flat fishing boats. They have been good. So long as that pon can sink in they hold really well.

With one your boat can spin. It's typically not in circles as the wind doesn't blow in circles but it can rotate 180 degrees or so. Its not that bad or often enough for me to invest in 2, to each their own on that.

I would like how much your boats weight. It looks to me that all the boat builds exceed the recommended weight capacity of the boats.
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats 2 года назад
Looks can be deceiving. This boat is framed out of 2x2 western red cedar and 11/32 plywood. Incredibly light which is how I achieve such high top speeds in it in my electric outboard test videos. I'll tell you this since you asked about weight on multiple videos- I've seen boats with 800 pounds alone in batteries. I've seen boats with full builds and two 300 pound men fishing out of it. I've seen 14 ft jon boats with over a thousand pounds in them. Guess what? They still float. It's a recommendation. Not a law. If you are very concerned about boat weight, I would strongly recommend not modifying a boat in any way, therefore you can have peace of mind.

@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats , the reason I asked is I want to do a skiff for the saltwater flats and I’ll be using a push pole , I’ll mount a a pvc tube to the back of The transom with C shape brackets and put the pole in the tube , this will allow for deeper water and will allow the boat to adjust for the tide , plus I don’t have the spike hanging off the back , but the manual unit is cool and a great idea 👍🏼
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats 2 года назад
Yeah man I actually looked at that option and if I were flats fishing that's what I'd do. I looked at a company where you can get different sized poles and mount the spike and t handle. Only problem fir me is I don't need a long length fir bass fishing and it would be super awkward inside my boat. Another example of why I always say all boat mods aren't universal! Different parts and approaches to different styles of fishing or goals for the boat. Good luck with your project man 👊

Why pay $400 for this when i could pay $600 for a powerpole micro?
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats 2 года назад
If your truly asking why here is my answer- Micro powerpoles require power. They have internal parts that i have seen people break. They use a composite stake, not metal, the driving force of the micro is not what youd think for harder surfaces....My biggest reasons- Micro does not auto adjust to water heights, the Royz is mechanical with moving parts and keeps you anchored regardless of water height change with wakes or currents, if water height changes significantly with micro, you pull out of anchor. Lastly, your number is wrong, 600$ for micro and spike is not included, add another 100$. So 700$. Tbnation.net had Royz on sale around X mas for 300$ so that's less than half the cost of an inferior product. Worth it to me. Just because it has Power Pole stamped on it doesn't mean it the greatest applicable jon boat shallow water anchor.
@BrandonWatkins614
@BrandonWatkins614 2 года назад
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats fair enough, however, i feel that in that case just a hand stake used in unison with a gheenoe style anchor bracket would be more economoical and easier while addressing the problem you mentioned with the power pole micro
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats 2 года назад
Well you said why spend 400$ on this opposed to spending 600$ on that, not what anchor system is most economical. An anchor stake works fine, I personally do not want to carry an 8 ft pole around in my boat regardless if it saves me a few hundred bucks. If you see value in a product, buy it. If not, don't. That's with anything out there. I really like my Royz and understand why it differs from other products and how it benefits me. Apparently others do as well as Roy has sold a lot of these units the past few months. To each their own I can only say that it works well for me.

U could've bought a fuel efficient four stroke motor instead of carrying a 250 pounds of batteries for that electric job u got for 4 grand
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats 2 года назад
It runs on one 48v lithium battery pack which weighs 65 pds. The battery and outboard combined are actually about 5 grand retail but I got the package for free from ePropulsion due to the success of my channel. Lastly, I fish electric only lakes regulated by the state of Georgia, by law no gas outboards are allowed in these waters so a fuel efficient four stroke motor would do absolutely nothing for me as it can't even get wet. Think before you speak because you are wrong on many levels.
