I am grateful to be able to share and communicate parts of my story in the hopes that it can help you to have the courage to transform shame as well. It takes a long time to create consistent self love, and probably even longer to forgive others who made us feel shame, so go easy on yourself (and others :)

It truly surprises me, Kim, that your channel isn't bigger. You're such an enlightened woman! I love just listening to your thoughts like this, it resonates with me so deeply. Thank you.

Your raw honesty is inspirational…. (But I still don’t have the strength to voice a recent shame)

The point you made of just feeling your emotions and just sitting with them for a bit really hit hard. I also suppress my emotions a lot. And when I do try to, I guess feel them, it often just turns into me thinking about them and trying to analyze how I’m feeling or how I’m supposed to be feeling. (lol I guess I’m doing exactly that here too) And while this can help just feeling emotions seems like a important part too. Also when I think of my emotions or try to feel them, I get really overwhelmed because there’s just so much. And obviously feelings of shame aren’t exacly comfortable. Overall I have realized that a lot of my feelings of shame come from a feeling of self hatred or at least dislike. They also often have something to do with social interactions and other people. I’m still not completely sure how I feel or why but I guess I’m on they way there ? Hopefully. Thank you for this video, it was nice to watch and your voice is really relaxing. (Sorry this turned kind of into a rant but wtv, also even just commenting makes me a bit uncomfortable because I have a hard time being open with my thoughts and feelings)

Up to this moment I thought shame came from external pressures. it's not, it's projection. I'm assuming how some information about me may be perceived as negative, so I hide it and feel shame. Then I thought, what if everyone in the entire world knew this thing about me and made fun of me for it? Well that would be wrong because its something that shouldn't be viewed as a negative trait, I stopped for a moment and realized that in the past when something I am/have and viewed as a positive but someone else views as a negative, I don't feel shame from their judgement because I disagree with them and it doesn't bother me. Truth is I myself view this trait of mine as a negative and I'm ashamed for someone else to point it out, but I don't know why.

I have some traits also that used to make me feel this way. Excessive blushing used to always make me feel shame when someone would point it out. But I’ve found a way to tell myself over and over it’s ok it just shows I’m passionate. Rescripting can help and as you say you can disagree with someone who doesn’t like one of your traits, it’s important to do so oftentimes.

Someone I’m starting to date recently told me they don’t have negative self talk or shameful feelings and never have (they’re in their late 20s). Do you think someone can truly go through life not experiencing these things/are shame & emotional pain necessary catalysts for spiritual growth? or perhaps they do in fact experience them but repress them so deeply as to avoid pain. Either way it’s puzzling bc I’m so heavily invested in healing myself but surely they must have wounds to heal after almost 30 years of life 😅😂 not to sound like I’m shaming someone for not being shamed

I think it’s near impossible to not experience some shame in this life, if not for oneself then at least for another, or perhaps that person lacks empathy - which is an important trait. But I don’t know, sometimes meanings get mixed up in conversations. Best of luck to you on your journey through spiritual growth! 🙏🏼

How did it feel communing with that blue jay. If only human interactions were as weightless as an interaction with a blue jay haha. But human interactions create bigger attachments and ripples in our minds. But, if we continue to rise in awareness even the human ties will feel as weightless as our ties to that of a blue jay interaction. Getting to that level of weightlessness takes time and work.

Very true. We are each others biggest lesson learners in this life, so if we help each other to grow the most, then we can also expect to be triggered by each other a lot as well. Triggers or activations are golden nuggets showing us where about a we can focus on our healing. Sometimes though it’s important to take rest and/or meditate instead of constantly being triggered ☯️ we need to enjoy this earth school as well!

Lovely video - like the ones before it in this series, thanks. When I think of moments of shame it seems to be a situation where we are not fitting the expectations of society or our particular circle. It is the mismatch that causes negative feelings, mostly inner directed, for example, as though we caused the shame. Of course other people can cause us to feel shame. Anyway, I came for the ASMR and stayed for the therapy.

Kim hello and thank you. Most of my shame stems from when I act in a way that I shouldn’t have and I should’ve known better. I have a tendency to go over the action in my head and beat myself up about it. And yes emotions play a big part and most of my actions.

Hello Linda, we all have those moments, where we think we shouldn’t have done something. Best advice I can give is go easy on yourself, you’ll learn from it more easily and maybe that lesson will turn out to be helpful somewhere else.

I've enjoyed your channel since before Covid, and I never comment on videos, but this is the first time you broke through to the core of me in a way I will truly use and cherish. Over the years you have established your life experience and your insights about it as authentic, brutally honest, and deeply considered. So it was because of that earned authority that this discussion of shame and its lifelong consequences - and possible redemption - resonated with me. Thank you.
