As an African American woman alot of the “jokes” he made aren’t ok. Theres a different between dark humor, humor, dry humor and just plain wrong and racism. People need to realize the difference and stop hiding behind the word “joke” because we all know their racism. Hearing him behind the scenes of his movie gives me serious flashbacks of all the worst directors I've ever had to work with. From my years of experience in the industry, I have learned to recognize the type of people that are an absolute nightmare you work with/for, and those clips of shane are raising all of the red flags. Also, I hate the mentality that "actors should be grateful for anything they can get, they have no right to be picky." I'm primarily a tech worker now, but I can state for a FACT that actors have the FULL RIGHT to be picky. In the industry, image and reputation is EVERYTHING. An actor can absolutely ruin their career by taking a role they shouldn't have, whether that's being branded as a mascot, being associated with bad productions, or being known for something unsavory. You're career can be ruined before it even begins. Even more so, it should never be underplayed the metal toll a bad work environment can have on a person; especially in an industry where you have to be at your most vulnerable in front of so many people, and at the same time need to keep a pristine image and be well-liked. I've seen people break from taking a abd job. I've seen actors loose their minds from a bad role. I've seen people snap from abuse and mistreatment. I've witnessed the pain some carry from the career decisions they made. Actors are working in a shitty, toxic industry-don't make it any harder. They are still people. They still deserve the right to choose what's best for them, whether it's convenient for you or not.
