I’m confident you believe the same. But in a month dedicated to their heritage and culture, Shane demonizing them is especially insensitive.

Why do so many people act like native americans are a thing of the past and don't exist anymore ??? There are many native americans who are alive and not haunting every piece of land that you walk on. Actually it would have been great if Shane took this time to talk more in depth about native american history, and how they still struggle with land ownership, but no, he just used them for horror.

I’m literally studying this in a history course right now! There’s a lot of historical distancing that settlers do to feel less responsible for horrific colonialist actions. If people were to acknowledge that Indigenous people are very much still here, they’d have to acknowledge the fact that these events were so recent in history.

As a kid who lived continents away and mostly got information about America through mainstream news and old movies, that's the impression about native Americans I had. Like they only existed during the wild west cowboy era. Glad internet happened and I could educate myself better.

There’s this bird near my mom’s house that sounds so much like a woman moaning I spent weeks wondering which neighbor could moan so loudly every night because all the houses are so far apart (since it’s the middle of nowhere lol) until I realized it was actually a bird and not a person. My cat (a Lynx Siamese) fell off a shell (she isn't supposed to climb it) and got her claws lodged into the wood in her attempt to stop herself from falling, so she was hanging from the shelf by her paws. Then she literally screamed, it legit sounded like a child screaming and I about jumped out of my skin and went to help her unhook her claws. She was thankfully okay, but my goodness, a cat screaming, instead of yowling or meowing, is terrifying, lol. 😂

I said it in the last video and i’ll say it again now, i,am a witch. I know alot about communication between humans and deities, spirits, demons a,d so on. What the fuck makes Shane think that HE is important enough to haunt. What spirits would want to talk with him? This guy is not equipped enough, not understanding enough, not educated enough for this exact thing. It’s annoying that Shane thinks he is being called out by anyone. I watched someone else review this and never noticed how he sneakily stole the footage of the kids and edited their title cards to make it seem like he recorded it. I thought he came across the kids and recorded because of the way he edited their names out and put "we" instead. smh that's so shady.

How little Shane knows about spirits literally upsets me. He's only doing this for the "spooks" and clearly doesn't actually care for the story behind these people. I keep comparing him to Josh Gates, a guy that I watched when I was younger. He was a "monster/ghost hunter," but the guy ACTUALLY cared about what he was doing. He'd go all out on research, flying all over the world, talking to people native to the area to get the story. He'd be there for DAYS, immersing himself in local cultures and trying to find evidence. If something tragic happened in an area, he would not shy away from sharing the information. Not only that, but even though the show is for entertainment, he managed to stay as respectful as he could to the land and spirits he was investigating. Also, he didn't go to these places without permission. He would get permission from locals or authorized to investigate these places, so that way he wasn't just waltzing onto burial grounds or monuments uninvited. Specifically, I remember he got permission to enter Chernobyl to conduct his research, which is very hard to do btw!!! Shane Dawson could never 😐 He truly cared about what he was doing, and treated the places he went to with respect. It literally pains me to see Shane Dawson do these things so sloppily. And Josh Gates' shows were actually entertaining. I can't remember which series it was, but my favorite part of each episode was when he and his team first arrived at the filming location. They always showed a couple minutes of the team having a fun time driving around, exploring local markets, getting their equipment together, etc. It endeared you to the people on camera and gave you some local flavor of the place they were investigating.

That sound that they hear is almost certainly something like a bobcat or a mountain lion. Also fatal car accidents are relatively common in rural areas often do to high speeds, long distance driving, and road conditions. I'm guessing that Ryland's family has lived in this area for a long time, so they would almost certainly know these things. Also, obviously playing up Native American massacres for views is shitty, but playing up recent car fatalities is too. Probably all of those people who died at that bridge have still grieving family and friends

The beginning was so confusing. I thought the ouija board clip was from the kids they saw that night at the bridge because they said they were carrying a ouija board. Like Nick said, I don’t know why Shane couldn’t just spend $60 on his own ghost hunting equipment instead of ripping videos from people who actually did. It’s unbelievable to me that Shane made a 3 part series where they essentially stand under a bridge doing absolutely nothing, just expecting something spooky to happen to them and the first two videos are just discussing said bridge and other completely unrelated things. This really makes me wonder if all of his other ghost hunting video were this bad. I remember loving the Queen Mary and Stanley Hotel series

I live in CO and have been to third bridge. It’s not haunted. The “drums” you hear are oil rigs lmao. Just lots of people have died there because it’s super dark there, it’s on a sharp turn and people drive way too fast. So they come around the corner going really fast and there are people parked there “listening for the drums” and boom, horrible car accident. It’s not haunted lmao. Oh and the Native American massacre that happened actually happened about a mile from where the actual bridge is

@@camille1324 i hope that's true but Shane has been famous for a long time now. a big portion of his og fans grew up on him and have already decided to double and triple down on him-as adults. the fanbase as a whole must have suffered a real falling out as a community after this last series of scandals, esp. those who never knew about or didn't realize the grooming content was so obscene. not to mention former fans who now point to growing up on Shane's content or interacting with him as a minor as something that contributed to their own grooming. like ofc some of his fanbase is very young but honestly, his audience is big enough that i don't think they're a game-changing amount compared to grown people who just don't care

This series has convinced me that the reason I found the Queen Mary and Stanley Hotel videos fun back when those came out was because: 1.) Garrett Watts is a lot more naturally funny and charismatic than Shane and is the best part of the Queen Mary series tbh. 2.) Andrew clearly helped with the editing process since the editing is noticeably worse with this series. Not saying the editing on the Queen Mary/Stanley Hotel videos was great, but it was noticeably better than this. This latest series of Shane's feels cheaper. It's Great Value Shane Dawson now. 3.) The Queen Mary/Stanley Hotel videos were also way less overly long, and thus had quicker pacing. These ones are a fucking slog to get through and I'm pretty sure watching you and nickisnotgreen is the only way I can even hope to be entertained by these new vids, cuz both of y'all have some really funny commentary... that, and I don't want to give Shane himself views and money anymore since he's gross. Okay, my longwinded comment is over now, lol.

From what I remember, Shane didn't consider his videos "documentaries" back then either, so they didn't come off quite so try-hard as his "documentary" series do. All of Shane's videos have only ever been vlogs, but his older videos didn't necessarily try to be more than that, so it was a lot less pretentious. (That's just based on my memory tho, I haven't seen those old videos in years so correct me if I'm wrong here)

Thank goodness most people have come to the realization that Shane just isn’t a very good storyteller or editor. I just finished watching Safiya’s new video on Lush Soap and it’s actually crazy the amount of effort, care, and professionalism she put into a video about SOAP compared to Shane’s “serious documentary.” Seriously, go compare both videos and note how Safiya credits all of the video clips from other creators and gives them a title in the lower third for EVERY clip, mentions the creators’ names when talking about what she’s learned from their videos/what she taking as inspiration for her soap-making method, AND brings in two creators to get their opinions on what she’s made. I totally agree with you, Nick, that instead of Shane continuing to say “oh I really want to make documentaries and be a storyteller” he needs to take some classes, learn some things about filmmaking, and actually put forth some effort if that’s truly what he wants to do instead of labeling his glorified vlogs as documentaries/series.

The thing with the crediting is definitely purposeful, I've watched a few other people's videos on this series, and you're the only one to pick up that it wasn't their film.

It really bothers me how back in SD’s old ghost hunting videos, Ryland was such a skeptic and didn’t believe it at all…now he’s all “that painting just has a demonic energy to me” and one of the first people to assign supernatural to things Just really emphasizes how fake and lazy this series is

I just love and appreciate the way you light your set. The blue back-light, the light by the plant that helps the computer pop against the wall, it's SO pleasing.
