Shane Griffith of Stanford wrestles Jake Wentzel of Pittsburgh for the 165-pound national title at the 2021 NCAA Wrestling Championships. Subscribe to the NCAA Championship RU-vid channel: ru-vid.com...
If they had wrestled, I think Lewis would’ve beaten him. Lewis did the same thing in 2019, and the only reason Lewis didn’t go that far in the NCAA tournament is because of his injury, had that not been there, he probably would’ve won, or at least made it a lot farther
I don’t think he means it was better than lee winning. I think he meant under these circumstances. With the program being taken away and it possibly being the programs last match
@@illchunky5831 Exactly. Spencer is an animal and amazing in his own right. Shane was in a unique situation and so was Spencer, and they both performed amazingly in spite of the obstacles they had to overcome.
KEEP STANFORD WRESTLING!!!!!!! Stop making tons of money off of these kids and their families and then cancelling the sport they love. I know wrestling doesn't make no where near the money of football or basketball but it doesn't cost that much for your school to maintain and seeing as how EVERYONE KNOWS it's not cheap to go to Stanford I think you can keep the program from being cancelled. Shit, they alrighty raised 12.4 MILLION
I’m not disagreeing i’m just saying you should check your facts. At nearly every college the only two profitable sports are men’s basketball and football. Every other sport doesn’t make any money except for special cases at some schools. Stanford wreslting doesn’t make any money it costs them money but the alumni donors have raised enough money to have the sport be independently funded
I loved the way Griffith wrestled it. Calm, deliberate, strategic. Takes neutral in the third period, because he knows exactly where all of his advantages are. Well done, and Keep Stanford Wrestling.
@UCeNMlKmvP6sayMITxkfOkRw no there not they are getting rid of the sport programs Stanford to dump men's volleyball, men's and women's fencing, women's lightweight rowing, men's rowing, field hockey, squash, synchronized swimming, wrestling, and coed and women's sailing
Keep Stanford wrestling! This is ridiculous. Clearly they are a top competitive team with some incredible athletes dedicating their lives to the sport and promoting their school and this is how they get treated?
these announcers ruined the moment. "and that'll do it...save stanford wrestling...". Should've been losing their minds. I picked the Griffith upset over Marinelli but man I did not expect this.
Unfortunately, I think Stanford will lose their program has so many had suffered. In my experiences with college administrators, those types of people are not educators. They are CEOs. Once they decide on a move, it's a done deal regardless of whom is against it and why. They don't care because they have nothing to lose. It's not their jobs on the line. I can only hope I am proven wrong and Stanford wrestling remains.
Because they violated college finance laws. Remember the pay for admissions scandal last year or the year before? Stanford was seemingly very involved in that.
Oregon cancelled their wrestling program years ago and now Stanford... some of the greatest crimes are never punished... I grew up in Palo Alto and wrestled for Cubberley, and Dave Shultz went to Palo Alto high, just across the street from Stanford... and coached there... whoever is behind this needs to be moved on...
Is it just me or these brackets arent as tough as used to be. No disrespect to these kids. It just keep running it in my head and i see any of these guys barely placeing if anything not placing in other years brackets.
Mans one hell of a 6 seed, feels same for me but I’m thinking it’s last year holding anyone from breaking out and COVIDs led to less matches=looser inaccurate seeds plus flo lost rights to college tourneys and any clips
Well I heard that the Stanford alumni raised 12 million for the program so it does not seem like a money issue. Maybe wrestling is too much of a masculine sport for the left wing California politics. They could replace it with knitting and sewing and make all of their male students sign up to take it.
too many liberals in the system, I'm from the east, but Stanford is a known, and well-respected university, not to have a wrestling team seems to be a loss to the school and country, and besides, it would be nice to see Penn State beat Stanford in the nationals, can't see that if Stanford doesn't even have a team to contend with, go cardinals. :)
