This current government holds demand and supply to create incentives to create an economic activity . Estonia showed how to create a surplus electricity with solar.
Housing, price was not affected in last 6 years due to building materials in main. These building material costs affected private housing costs also. He failed to say they pausing of the construction of government houses will affect the supply of houses. Opps! He failed say the building permits approved have suddenly dropped dramatically. In 5 years 2018 Auckland's population grew 5.3% and the number of dwellings increased by 11.3%. Across the country, this was the case.
Thank you Sir, Fantastic, Clear, informative, on point. Why has it taken NZ so long to create a Politician , who wants to help, develop, grow ,secure, inspire, this tiny waka, crikey. He's good for New Zealand. Shane Jones works because He speaks the Truth with sense. Better for NZ than a winning All Black team.
@@expandingtravels6856i sort of wonder if the share holders and oil companies that own marsden point was given a hard word by labour, greens and maori party to close it. That is only a theory, it cant be proven. Worth a thought though.
It wasn't government owned. It was closed by the company that owned it. Had the government of the day intervened, the Nats and their surrogates, ACT and the Winston Party would be screaming about government interference
This man speaks logical sense, anyone with a little bit of intelligence can see that. If we do not follow this commonsense line towards future energy in this country, we are destined to disaster. And i am not personally an admirer of Shane Jones or Winnie for that matter, but i do respect commonsense in any form for our future. Veteran. 84yo. New Zealand.
It looks like stupidity, but it's part of the plan to make living harder for the ordinary people. They want to depopulate, not just the workers but the middle class too.
So refreshing to hear some common sense being voiced to those who cannot see the wood for the trees. We are living in a real world and not a dreamworld.
I just hope they get the country on side before next election. Its a Hell of an ask to turn us off the collision course those ideological, socialists, given enough time communists put us on. Right now the Coalition especially Luxon are the bad guys. They have some Hard calls to make. Calls that will make them more unpopular.
It seems they want to create an energy crisis. Just as they ramp up the lies about climate change to promote inefficient solar, wind + electric cars. Electric cars are dangerous .and not at all environmentally sound. But it's all part of the.evil plan to wipe out small business, indeed to reduce population.
Great speech Shane. Be nice if all Kiwis sat down and listened to his sensible logical and futuristic words. Our next PM after Sir Winnie. Go New Zealand First.
David Seymour has no problem telling it how it is, luxon is the week link. I can see next election it will be NZ first and Act in power if Luxon doesn’t grow some balls.
I live locally. I heard that some workers were sent in to remove and sell off certain key structural equipment to ensure that it would be impossible to rebuild it, or at least, making it very expensive. And the pylon - that is a direct result of our pathetic checkbox attitude towards education resulting in low-ability / low common sense / low ability to make decisions.
I am 100% on Shane side on this! What a stupid short sighted senseless unscientific decision to close Marsden point! Shane is absolutely right on the energy argument! Talk about destroying our ability to be self-sufficient and use our own local natural resources! Shane is so on-point here!!!
Ardern and anyone else involved in the closure of marsden point should be in jail, it was a stupid mistake. Shane Jones is absolutely correct, no fuel the country stands still.
We don’t have a MSM that can and will inform the public. Having to go online to find the news and watch an empty House of our representatives is a wake up call for what has happened to our lives in NZ. We the citizens have allowed this to happen!!
My coment is it was a Great Speach form a Great Man who can deal with the Realities we all face. My real concern is it should be compulsary when Parliament is sitting for All Politicians to be there listening to every speach. That is their job, not having lunch and wasting everyones time.
Great speech. Marsden Point should never ever have been shut down. Absolute madness. New Zealand is now far more vulnerable to being economically hamstring by international wars or even economical sabatage. Marsden Point was put in place to make sure that New Zealand had a good supply of fuel no matter what external wars or boycotts were happening.
Well said act about housing you got balls about time a minster started too talk about real issues and fight for the real issues NOW ACT Stand up for real NEW ZEALANDERs families and get them in to affordable housing NOW No excuses With out a home 🏠 we are nothing 80 % of NZ is uninhabited land New Zealand first or act or national Act now
I'm surprised the consequences weren't obvious to them at the time. When I read that the Marsden pipework was being backfilled with concrete, I sold my V6 and bought a small car. A couple of months later Putin invades Ukraine and petrol hit $3.50/Litre.
This was about the then Govt showing off woke credentials, not falsehoods. Careerism. There was a local bid, fronted by the excellent Labour MP for Northland (!yes!) which Jacinda and co turned down.
$6500 p/sqm is an absolutely ridiculous amount....Thats the cost to build high end luxury housing in the private sector here in NZ. People responsible need to be held to account for mismanagement of tax payer dollars.
QV reported average Sq m in Northland was higher in Northland than Auckland by $400. Average building costs as at August 2023 were between 2,900 to 3,600.
Mr. Jones is a wise man. Listen to him he is correct about the Marsden Refinery. Should never have been closed. It has placed NZ in a risky position if global security of oil production is effected.
Finally someone told us that KO buildings are for the most part built to a higher standard than many private homes in nz. Building at $6,500 per square is very expensive compared to the cost of the average, private, standard builds, especially those built in our biggest cities. Do KO pay the same build costs as private housing is a question many would like an answer to - site development fees, GST, council consenting, development fees and the like? Are we building 'lifetime' homes or are these meant to be short term to get people back in a position to join the private market as a renter or future owner? The general public need the truth about the KO building programme parameters in order to really see how our tax dollars are being spent.
Shane and Winston get out there and walk the talk Get our Refinery running again ! Stop the destruction of it now ! We the people own it NOT a bunch of assholes in the last Government that have stolen from us the people ! Governments work for the people not the other way around ! Shane and Winston you know what needs to be done to get Our Refinery running again now DO IT !
April 22 , 22% increase in house construction cost, then by December 2022 a further 11.3% and by June 2023 a further 9.5% on the previous 12 months. S Jones did not mention the information from QV . Why?
100% Shane. Also could the police find out where the money went from stripping the catalyst and other extremely valuable items and selling them. Where’s the fucking money!!!
I don’t get why unemployed people get to stay in motels in cities when it would be cheaper to push them to small towns, where it is cheaper to buy/build houses, it may also help to break the cycle of generational poverty by getting them away from bad influences.
Physics, a bit like the cell phone. We do need inovation , it was a twich reaction. They got batterys coming. That pylon was incredulis or subterfuge. The atmosphare will show you entropy. Wave power is like severial nukes a day. The fish farms should have a ancher out a bit. No farmer would bottom trawl they would put cameras on cages and invest in fish production not just extraction in archaic ways. Fish poo could improve our soils and iq.
jeez, Shane Jones advocating for public ownership. How come hes not talking about reducing reliance (and all the exportation of cash exported to buy it) on imported oil and derivatives by encouraging increasing electric vehicle take up, rather than discouraging it? Hard headed for Shane is important as he is keen on putting his head in the sand.
