Once another storm blew in to our full band / outdoor set, we were forced to find an indoor area to keep tracking.
Fortunately there’s a beautiful, old church in the ghost town portion of Terlingua, TX. We set up two condenser mics & started filming/recording with one, continuous, live take.
If there was ever a songwriter worth covering, it’s Townes Van Zandt… and this is my favorite song he ever wrote.

Shane, I hope you guys get the massive amounts of recognition you all deserve. I remember hearing "The End" for the first time almost two years ago- that song still ignites a dream in my mind every time I hear it. Keep that golden voice singing as long as you can- means the world to a lot of us.

Thanks for keeping your sound true to your soul.. so many times we see artist put out material they think commercial outlets want to hear. I understand some of that, but the fans will support true artistry for a life time vs. a flash in the pan. Thanks for not being a sell out.

It’s the song…not the way we all heard it. Nothing against the Willie Merle version but there’s so much to this song that’s not typically heard in the lyrics. Go listen to Townes sing it. Good job boys!

Fly up to Denver in December, worth the trip. The Ogden Theatre is very intimate and the VIP is worth it. I did it last year, they put on a great show!
