What a shame he's leaving :( He was my favourite driver, nut just in V8 Supercars, but in the whole racing world. He's a great bloke and it was always so much fan to see him racing. All the best from Germany.

It's how Drifting became mainstream in Japan, Tsuchiya was in a grip race & was drifting along with 1 or two others, but drifiting had been around a while before that, on the mountain roads in Japan. Togue is where it all started :D

If Gis was to have stayed around he would have been the Ayrton Senna of V8 Supercars and I firmly believe that. You can see it visibly in race footage, he just gets that much closer to the walls then everyone else, he has that little bit more balls that it takes. One of the things they say made Senna so great was the how he wasn't afraid to get that much closer to the walls. As for car control.. well I think this vid explains it. what a gun, i remember watching that horrible show that was top gear Australia when they couldn't get one around a round about due to the lack of steering lock.
Shane is retiring at the end of the 2012 v8 supercar season. He's only 23 yr's old . I don't think we really seen the best of him. He had alot more racing years ahead of him.
I think he also wants to take up drifting, he's been doing alot of testing in for D1NZ in the Rattla Falcon, pretty sure he actually did the first round few weeks ago

I said iracing because Shane Van Gisbergen is a player of the game iracing. I know that V8 Supercars is coming to Austin. I kinda wanna go but a bit short on cash.

@bootfloor It will certainly be a very interesting car though! I doubt they will can the RWD model, I imagine their performance FPV cars will still be RWD jsut the daily driven cars will be AWD/FWD, the AWD turbo ones will be very interesting.
MIKEK3NT Actually it's camber. And ideally, your wheels should have some slight negative camber. Reason being, when you go around the corner, the tyre will want to roll to one side, reducing amount of contact and traction. The negative camber offsets this roll
