I don't know the actual details but it seems from outside looking in Slavfkovsky's attitude and Shane Wright's attitude is the biggest issue with why Montreal drafted Slavfkovsky instead of Wright. Montreal is a true rebuild and they don't need someone with an ego problem to add to the difficulties. Slavfkovsky seems to be truly happy and wants to work hard and learn. For a young player that's a great attitude. Good for the team going forward.

I've watched several Podcast on RU-vid and some of the reports that I'm getting is that Shane Wright hold himself in high regard Which is fine given hes a highly touted prospect but when he was running Offensive drills he was pochecked several times by the defending Player to which he slammed his stick on the ice in start a cursing which to me again seems fine but upon further investigation the opposing player was actually the coach.

@@Zaghzackio During the Habs interview they showed him video clips of him performing indifferently (specifically not engaged away when away from the puck I think) and he responded poorly. That is being touted as the main reason the Habs passed on him. I'm not sure why Arizona picked Logan Cooley over Wright.

Maybe the idea is to break his confidence a bit and get him to realize where he has gone wrong. Then send him to Kingston so he will work harder to improve his weaknesses and attidute there while also getting his confidence back up in a healthy way this time.

It's too bad KK didn't get the new Habs management, because he's playing really well with Carolina so far this year. I think he would have thrived with the Habs this year, and maybe we wouldn't have gone for Dach, or it would have opened up some opportunities. Sucks we lost him for nothing. Another one that stands out for me, is losing Sergachev for Drouin... what a bust that's been.

As a Habs fan, I was always a Slaf fan and not a big one of Wright! I didn’t like his attitude! But I do agree as a hockey fan in general that they are not doing him right! If he isn’t good enough to crack the Kraken lineup, send him to the farm team or Back to junior. The guy can’t develop if he isn’t playing ffs. It’s not like the Kraken are a contender lol! Reminds me of Ducharmes use of Caufield! All he wanted was to play the vets and try to win! Know what you have and the direction you are going as a team! Your not a contender, just a pretender! Play the kid for gawd sakes. !

"This isn't Raffi Torres." While Torres has a well-deserved reputation for being dirty, he was actually selected 5th overall, just 1 pick lower than Wright. His peak was only half a point per game (41 in 82), but he did score 27 goals that year.

It’s negligence at this point. If the coach won’t play him, he should be fired. If Francis approves this, he should be fired. Making the playoffs with 29 year old players should not be the goal of a 2nd year team

The coach should be fired for real... If you draft a guy that high that was the consensus number 1 for many scouts then you have to let him play. Seattle is a bad team, they suck so freaking bad, they can lose, learn, have fun, draft high for a few years. Shane Wright seems to have a pretty bad attitude yes, but the guy is still young and he's been told for years he was the number one and he was granted exceptional player status, what the hell do people expect? He's just a kid... LET HIM PLAY!

I agree with you about the development. But right from the draft day, we were able to see an attitude issue. Let's ignore that famous stare down and say it was taken out of context. We cannot ignore the childish comments he made on Twitter based on his 4th pick. And he removed them after. Most likely because he was told to. Minutes on the ice are earned. And locker room talk stays in the locker room. So what I get out of this is that Shane might be doing something that makes him earn healthy scratches instead of ice time. And the coach is actually doing him a favor by not destroying his reputation by keeping that attitude out of public sight.

If his attitude is the problem, if the goal of getting him healthy scratched is to break his ego, then this is not the way to do it IMHO. All the more reason to send him back to the OHL. "You're not good enough for the NHL yet." in a very, VERY clear message. Not even the AHL. THEN when he's back in Kingston, if he's mad he's been sent back down, just prove everyone wrong. Otherwise you'll stay and rot down there, kiddo.

Its not completely crazy they are not a rebuild team like the habs, and they are getting some practices and some head coach one on ones with him. If they delay him a couple weeks before sending him down its maybe to talk to him and get him to understand what they want from him and what part of his game they want hkm to practice. Can be a good move in the end
