Rana being attracted to the whole Xu family is a whole mood for this movie. Walked into the theatre expecting to crush hard on Simu Liu but walked out crushing hard on Tony Leung.
Bro then u did not watch some of Chinese action fantasy movies lol this is totally same as Chinese fantasy movies the difference is they have marvel label in it.
Found this out very recently but a lot of the camera work was done by Chris Cowan who is a huge anime fan. What's even more wild is he started out on RU-vid and has been uploading anime fights for like 10+ years and you can literally track his camera work getting better. Most recently he did a "live action my hero academia" series of videos. You can see all his work under RivenX3i! It's crazy inspirational seeing where he started out and watching his work evolve over the years.
The security wasn't in the compound because he had given up the ten rings and the warlord life. That is also why they thought they could get away with attacking the compound.
I think this is what made the MCU the name that is today. They took characters not well known or weren’t really fan favorites and made them fan favorites with so much personality and world building. People thought GOTG wouldn’t work and that’s crazy to think about now
With Shang-Chi and Ant-Man both based in San Francisco, I'm wondering if we could see a team-up at some point. Or scarier, a conversation between Katy and Luis.
Imagine Luis trying to explain some insane situation or place and Katy knows exactly who or what he means right from the off. “I know that dude, too! The weird hat and he kinda smells like radishes…” Something like that😂
I didn't really get why he was conflicted about killing his dad at first. Then I realized it wasn't the dad who turned his son into a weapon, it was Shang Chi who wanted to become a weapon. He and his dad were partners in revenge. Really changed the way I understood both of them.
I loved this movie a lot. Reminded me a lot of Black Panther. I might even say as a black man i enjoyed this one even more. I love how both antagonists were very understandable. And I loved the cultural aspect brought into the MCU. Also reminded a lot of old Chinese movies i used to watch with the over the top physics and fight sequences but that was really good.
Remember the sister said, if her father won’t let her in his empire, she will create her own empire. I don’t think Shang-Chi knows that Xialing didn’t dismantle the ten rings operation LOL! Anyways, she probably merged her underground fighting club and the 10 rings organization. That’s why she has Jon Jon and razor fist as her left/right hand men, whether if they are on the good side or bad side that’s the question LOL! Again I don’t think Shang-Chi knows she’s continuing operations..so that is content for the next movie. Xialing goes on her own path, that’s why she’s such a bad ass chick! She probably will play with both the bad and good sides depending if it will benefit her operations or not.
For me the story hits home, being Vietnamese American, the way Shang-chi hides from his heritage/culture then embraces is super relatable. To see this story portrayed in an MCU movie, it for sure inspired and empowered myself and I’m sure other Asian. Also huge Simu fan, only referred to him as Jung (his character from Kim’s) but now he has solidified himself as Shang-chi.
I feel it and I feel like it’s for people that’s now getting to that adult stage cuz I know nowadays atleast where i’m at in oakland cali…asian people i’ve been seeing don’t go into their religion/culture
Honestly, my theory: Wenwu could've lived, had he decided to do so. Since the power of the rings grant him immortality, he could just hang on to his soul/eternally extend his soul, but after realizing what he's done, especially to his children, and even perhaps how Shang's worthy, he gave up the rings. Basically, he had some "my time has come" moment.
Unfortunately Bradley Allan (Fight choreographer for Shang-Chi) passed away shortly before the film premiered. He frequently worked with Jackie Chan and you can clearly see the influence in this film. Especially in the bus scene.
I have a theory: When the first time Shang chi's mother met with Wenwu, it was not coincidence, Wenwu is her mission. Wenwu had used the power of the ten rings to do many bad things throughout history. Shangchi's mother is coming from a place called Talo, which is the place where the group of honorable people guard and keep the world away from the darkness. I think originally her mission is to stop the Wenwu to using the power of the ten rings no matter how, and somehow, eventually she fallen love with him.
Conversely, one might argue that Wenwu could have been trying to bring her defenses down by getting to know her at first, until she trusts him enough to reveal how to get to Talo. But in the process, he genuinely fell in love with her as well and decided to live a peaceful life with her instead. Have a family and all
Or or or how about he went to go find talo then found her protecting her own village then fell in love🤯 why y’all tryna be woke when it’s a basic love trope🤣
Here’s what all the mythical creatures are: Fenghuang: associated with the western mythological Phoenix but not synonymous. The Fenghuang is usually paired with the Chinese dragon as symbols of Yin and Yang, they represent harmony, political prosperity and world peace. Imperial Guardian Lions: Also called Shishi or foo dogs, symbols of protection which is why they are featured on shrines often. Morris: Morris us known as a Hundun or Dijiang, a creature with no face, two butts four wings and six legs. Cute as they are, Chinese mythology associates these creatures with the personification of cosmogonic chaos. Huli Jing: the nine-tailed fox ‘referred to as Kitsune in western mythology and did inspire the creation of Ninetales in Pokémon’ is known for shape shifting abilities and can either be good or bad, though mostly appear in times of prosperity. Qilin: also known as ‘Kirin’ in western mythology, this horse-dragon hybrid are symbols of peace, kindness and benevolence and are often depicted behind symbols of authority. I like studying mythical creatures from Asia because there are so many cool creatures and seeing the differences in designs and names between China and Japan is cool too. I hope you’ve all enjoyed learning something as well.
Brad Allen was the stunt coordinator for the film. He passed away shortly after production in his 40s. He was the first ever non-Chinese person to join Jackie Chan Stunt Team, and one of the main coordinators behind the bus scene.
Chang-Chi used his mom's technique to claim the rings. The same one she used against Wenwu in their first fight. So it wasn't an elder wand kinda thing
I know my friends have asked, being the resident Asian, if the Dweller in Darkness is a mythological creature, and the answer is: no. It's a Marvel antagonist, on a similar scale to Dormammu. It's unrelated to China, and it's just a neat tie-in to the greater Marvel universe that writers were able to work (very brilliantly, IMHO) into this movie to be the final antagonist.
@@matthewcronin2325 Or relying on someone in their react group to give them the answer only for that person to blurt out the completely wrong thing but instead of fact-checking they just accept the misinformation as fact.
The jacket Shaun had when going to seeing his sister (underground fight club) was totally inspired by Goku with the orange and blue. Love how this film was an homage to all martial arts in pop culture
If you guys are wondering why the actor who plays Razor Fist (guy with machete arm 😂) looks familiar, he’s Florian Munteanu. He played Ivan Drago’s son, Viktor, in Creed 2.
if you have seen the series "Marvels Assembled Season 1 Episode 6": The making of Shang Chi, it's an hour long behind the scenes, and a lot will be explained throughout the movie... and each main character has their own say about this movie which is quite beautiful.... seeing Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung behind the scenes and interviews is quite an eye candy...they really love what the are doing here which shows in the movie because all of them have great chemistry... especially that all of them; the director actors are a big fan of Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung.
Tony Leung (Wenwu) is a legend!! Absolutely loved him in Hero alongside Jet Li. His performance in this movie was the standout for me...his emotional expression was beautiful!
Just wanna say, when his dad married his mother he gave up the ten rings and dismantled the ten rings organization. They lived at the compound still but were living normal lives. It wasn’t until the mother was killed for the past sins of the father that he restarted the ten rings (mainly with the intent of finding her killer)
I have to say I am so stoked for Shang Chi to be a central part of the MCU going forward. Honestly if he becomes one of the main guys (Like the next Iron Man and/or Captain America) I think that’d be amazing 😊
Seems pretty clear they’re setting him up to be just that. All the marketing focused on him beginning the “new era” and being your new “favorite Avenger.” Falcon as the new Cap will also have to be a key player of course. They’re gonna take their sweet ass time to put enough distance from Endgame on it, but eventually there will be a new Avengers movie.
Oh, now I’m seeing how it was a big mistake to show way too many of these side characters in the meantime after that. Not that any of them are that bad, which some aren’t really great, and I like Miss Marvel. But doing it just willy-nilly like they did kinda does them dirty. Thor 4, like it or not ( has a little to like, and plenty to really not), and even GOTG 3 (which I do like), pretty much created extra conclusions for old characters, and even when they doesn’t do that for older characters, they very clearly didn’t figure out what to do with them yet, even when they seem to have a lot of ideas for the new characters actually meant to be the main players. Some of the new players are even popular old characters rebooted, and even classic Marvel characters! Damn, why didn’t they start with these from the get go, or wait to start making movies so you use these characters? You wouldn’t be considered in a slump just because you took a break!
Finally! My man Tony Leung gets his chance to shine in the States. If you guys are just discovering him, then I highly recommend you watch his previous Hong Kong films such as Hard Boiled, In the Mood for Love, Infernal Affairs, and Hero. He's one of the best actors ever.
The Ten Rings are on par with Mjolnir as being my favorite MCU weapon. LOVE the sound they make when Wenwu uses them! It may not be as strong as other weapons in the MCU but I think it's one of the coolest.
I went absolutely insane when I saw the nine-tailed fox, it was so beautiful and I've never seen one depicted in CGI before. This proves we can have live-action anime that's quality.
Fun Fact: The older Ta Lo archer man was played by Yuen Tah, a former member of the Peking Opera Theater "7 Little Fortunes". It was the a group made up of the best of the Theater, with Jackie Chan being one of the members.
Brad Allen is one of Jackie Chan's Stuntmen who pass away. He did the fighting choreograph which is why it look so close like Jackie Chan action in this movie.
So that's why I saw his name at the end credits as a tribute. Sad for his passing, but his craft made *Shang-Chi: The Legend of Ten Rings* so unique. This movie is his legacy.
"Definitely the most different Marvel movie." Wait until you watch Eternals. xD Tbh I don't know why I didn't go to the cinema to watch Shang-Chi when it came out, but I did watch it a few days ago and I absolutely loved it. Best cinematography in the MCU, or among the best. The characters were very well written, and the story itself was pretty good. I'm still processing Eternals (liked it, but it was totally different from I was expecting), but I've loved the other 2 MCU movies we've got this year (Black Widow and Shang-Chi). Those that aren't watching these movies because "it's not an Avengers movie" or whatever reason, they're missing out.
Bamboo supports its own weight…🧐. Anything that stands up without aid supports it’s own weight. It’s got amazing tensile strength, resistance fo be pulled apart I believe
41:56 She was in guardians of the galaxy *Sequel will probably show from where the rings come from and his father getting them from the cave.* (i know from the comics what can be expected but they can reshape few things.)
I just realised that the scene where they lighted up the lantern (?) thingy for funeral, the dad was included which could be a callback when he said he wanted to live in Ta Lo with their mother but the villagers said he wasn't worthy. In my view, him giving up immortality to live with his wife was another form of selfishness considering how many lives he has taken throughout his life, but him giving up his life for his son was what made him worthy to be accepted in Ta Lo.
Yeah. In the end, he gave his rings and his life for his son. "We don't know what kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths." (Taking from anime that I like 🤭)
I think when Wenwu took off the rings to live happily with his wife, he also retired the organisation. That's probably why his place wasn't guarded when people came after his family while his was gone. It also explains why the Ten Rings were no where to be seen after the first Iron Man movie. They only reappeared after the events of Iron Man 3 and made a "blink and you'll miss it" cameo in the first Ant-Man movie.
Love Shang-Chi, and love the reaction. To answer your question, when he gave up the Ten Rings for his wife, he lost his immortality once he took them off. He was willing to age and grow old with her.
The scene where Wenwu told the old archer "I've lived 10 lifetimes more than you" (or something like that). The actual Mandarin translation reads "I've eaten more salt than you've eaten rice." That line is enough to humble anyone down.
1:07:20 SAME SURAJ! I really want them to stay friends throughout the run of their characters. They don't need to date, it's unnecessary when they could just be platonic soulmates. We already have a ton of couples that fight in the MCU, let's just do something different with Shang-Chi and have then be besties until the end!!!!
if you've never seen the stunt from Police Story 3 of Michelle Yeoh driving a dirtbike onto a moving train car when she had little to no experience riding... it's incredible. have fun
They fixed the appearance of Abomination to be more similar to the comic book. And believe me... If Wong is hanging out with Abomination, there's a reason for that. It's not random and will be explained in some Marvel movie.
watching this movie as someone who can (kinda at least) understand chinese was a completely different experience; the chinese dialogue felt really real and natural and the subtitles at times while technically conveying the meanings correctly couldn't capture a lot of the subtleties in the language, Also, fun fact, Brie Larson had appeared in 3 of director Destin Cretton's previous movies, and now they've been in a 4th together!
I really liked when they spoke Chinese instead of english, I don't speak it (even though I'm Chinese-American lmao), but I could tell the Chinese dialogue really conveys the raw emotion and makes the movie seem so much more genuine. I just love when actors can speak their native languages in an American production film, it really just elevates the entire movie.
Yeah i reallty liked that movie, i think many people didnt liked it because o the lack of fight and the kiss. The only thing i didnt liked about the kiss was the music in the scene. It was just a kiss between partners but they used a background music that didnt match the scene. They should have used a more slow and romantic music with less volume, instead of a more action oriented music that somehow seemed to make that scene more important than what it is. Also Phastos had the bes power of all in my opinion, being a technopath is great.
Hello, there is a great movie. I want you to share it with the owner of the channel. The name of the movie is the Lady of Heaven. The movie will be shown in cinemas on the 10th of next December in the United States.
The moment you take the rings off you begin your aging process again. That is why when Wenwu fell in love he felt that he had meant someone who was worth growing old for, which requires him to take off his rings. Thus he began his aging process, but then once he puts them back on to avenge his wife, he halts his aging process again.
Me: starts the reaction vid Rana: "It was shockingly easy to avoid spoilers for this" Don't worry, I'm sure Damarin can help you out with spoilers before the movie ends
I wouldn't mind a 10 Rings Disney plus show or branch off to a stand alone movie of their own. I would rather not have them only be on screen in the Shang Chi movies.
Why are you glad?? They ruined an AWESOME experience in theaters by watching it, with lights on, not enough good sound system, commenting through out, and significantly smaller screen......only to make money of a reaction....?? Especially THIS movie which was all filmed with IMAX cameras........and they suppose to be movie fans??.....there are soooo many series and other movies that are not in the theaters they can react to........
Ten Rings were created by an alien race called the Makluans. Makluans are some form of space dragon species. A very peaceful species too. Makluans overlord forged the rings from the heart of the very first star. Howard stark believes the rings to be advanced technology so advanced that it would be indistinguishable from magic.
@@baron6797 i know😆😂..thats why when first time watching the movie i always wonder why that old man seems familiar...then later i finally recognized him😂😂😂
But kinda ruined it watching it at home with lights on, not good sound system, commenting through out and small screen.....especially this one which the whole film was shot in IMAX
@@gotaos8633 Hey to each their own, I’m just happy as a fan to get a genuine first-time viewing reaction. Plus of course they’re going to rewatch it in private and give it the attention it deserves eventually anyway… Who hasn’t rewatched it 😜
I think the rings make people immortal only when they are worn, it just stops their aging, so when the dad took them off after marriage he began to age again
The 10 rings belong to the Dragon-like alien race called the Makluans. Shang Chi’s Father happen to Defeated a Makluan leader, who Happened to be in the first who wielded the 10 rings of power. And that signal on the rings from the secret ending is a beacon that will led the Entire race to earth to get them back and Invade earth.
