What is wrong with the confederate flag? The people at the time of the ending of the civil war were mature enough and okay to allow everyone to come together and not care about skin colour under the american flag. If you were from the south and lost your father and brother and etc fighting for what you thought was freedom you would be proud of the flag. The flag did not represent racism. Racism is a human condition in all of us, but it does not control us or how we see the world unless we let it. The kkk was later formed as an arm of the democratic party since they opposed civil rights to blacks yet were okay with their symbols? Really? The party of apartheid in the usa? You should be far more outraged over the democratic party then you should be about an ancient flag that simply represents family history. Those who fought in the civil war in the south weren't fighting for slavery or hate even if some of the souther elite were (who were democrats btw - The republicans were the north). But the hate is reborn today in those who want to see the world in colours instead of character and want to pretend to be some sort of victims of something that happened generations ago and our ancestors were mature enough to handle with love. Hate doesn't work.

There are many different aspects that have to apply to make change and also having support from government organizations for not only funding but breaking institutional barriers in place that gets ignored by most. They yell when you riot because "there's ways of expressing your anger peacefully" which i get. But when you DO express your anger peacefully, "it's unacceptable and disrespectful as well". So doing nothing at all is what this country truly wants? Why should anyone honor that?

You know I see it this way. If someone, whether it be the NFL, NBA, MLS soccer, NBL, it doesn't matter, has an opinion that speaks for others, you have to respect it, even if it's wrong. This is what this country stands for. We have the freedom of expression to express ourselves on how we feel. Colin did this, and I respect that decision. It takes guts to say and do what he did. He didn't scream or shout did he during his protest did he? He expressed his opinion and it shouldn't go any further than that.
