Interesting stuff. I watched this movie as a kid, it felt very silly and light. It's fascinating how much work goes into a"silly" movie like that behind the scenes - stunts, CGI, acting, creative writing, references. Thanks for posting this cool video!

i can't believe they make this great movie decades ago with the lowest spec of PC and maybe also with hard to use CGI aplication.. it must be hard compared with our modern CGI nowadays.
hongkong movies are the most famous among all the world back in 80s, 90s and 2000s i am not from china not from hongkong. But hongkong and china mainland are different for me although hongkong already back to china in 1997.
Mainland China movies are garbage. They are nothing but CGI filled, poorly written, propaganda garbage approved by the CCP most of the time. Hong Kong cinema was great up from the 80's to the mid-2000's due to the distinctly Hong Kong voices of filmmakers such as Tsui Hark, John Woo, Wong Kar Wai, Johnnie To, Ann Hui etc. Those guys were great because they were allowed to actually make films that expressed their unique points of view, coupled with the fact that they were also well informed and educated on the history of cinema, with names such as Kurosawa, Godard, and Melville frequently cited as inspiration for their works. In Mainland China, however, not only are the filmmakers not allowed to make anything remotely interesting due to the pressure of CCP censorship, but the folks making those movies themselves are also largely uneducated on the history of cinema, hence why there's so many cheap Hollywood copycat films there.

I watched their dramas/movies before ,their actors/actresses most of them not good looking, it's just common faces and even ugly(i am sorry not mean to insult) i am not watching beautiful or handsome face in movies/dramas but the problem is okay they are not beautiful not handsome so i expected their acting will be marvelous, fantastic but after i watched their movies/dramas their acting are terrible, i like wth?? Not beautiful but also can't acting and no talent as well, so what is the point watching this kind of movies/dramas? I am focus on their acting it's not just about the script it's chinese mainland actors/actresses are lazy super lazy, they don't care with their acting just wore a lot of make up and think they are beautiful, handsome. Only people in chinese mainland will think their peoples beautiful, handsome. But yes there are few of their actors/actresses are real beautiful /handsome but just several of them. Even fan bing bing is not beautiful for me, she just use a lot of expensive beauty product to make her skin fair and radiant but her face for me just common face. Hongkong actors /actresses back in 80s,90s and 2000s they are good looking beautiful handsome but the most important their acting skill are really great. Their eyes can acting as well, most of hongkong actors/actresses at that time their eyes can acting. Like amy chan from hongkong watch "the good old days"drama she and steve ma nailed it, the drama is fantastic. Steve ma from taiwan, actually most of country acting was good at that time. Not just hongkong but hongkong movies/dramas most of their movies/dramas have moral messages that is what make hongkong movies/dramas the best at that time compare to any other countries including hollywood movies/drama. Hongkong movies/dramas the best. But nowadays new Hongkong movies/dramas and any other countries all are terrible ,i don't watch new movies/dramas anymore. Because nowadays actors/actresses are lazy super lazy the same like chinese mainland actors, actresses. Even korean movies/dramas not good at all, at first it was okay but later i find out they always tried to get sympathy through their dramas/movies . Korean dramas/movies they make the main character got leukemia, cancer any kind of disease they can think of, and also they sad for every single small problem like one of the drama i watched the main actress not continue to study in the collage and then they sad for the entire dramas/movies wtf is that? In real life i met so many people that not study in collage even the eldest they not even graduate elementary school but they did not sad like in korean dramas/movies. I feel like korean are insulting these peoples that dd not go to collage so i stopped got fooled by their dramas/movies. I Don't watch Korean dramas/movies anymore. Only old hongkong movies /dramas, old taiwan production dramas, and some other countries. Chinese mainland journey to the west is one of the few good dramas, because this drama made with hard work not lazy actors/actresses.

Actors are never bad,it’s either the budget on ground for both production and training the actors ..so probably china don’t spend much on movie making or their don’t pay adequate attention to the industry …the budget of this shaolin soccer is $10m,in the 90s that’s really huge for movie tho but it’s worth it
Brilliant movie, but it would've been a fuller more in depth movie if Stephen developed the relationship between the coach and the star player and also develop the coach's inner fire to win and get justice from the villian.
Watching this movie in a pirated VCD wayback here in the philippines i was liitle confused why there are so many shadows of heads on our TV, i taught it was only a special effects of the movie🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i was so angry on someone pirated🤣🤣🤣🤣😞😞
