This is the story of three Dutch Kung Fu disciples, who went to the legendary Shaolin Temple and found an adventure. They trained with monks Yan Bi and Yan Feng, they participated in Buddhist rituals, they lost some weight and gained a lot of knowledge. And they met a few new friends along the way.
Join our faithful pilgrims Yan Shao, Yan Lì and Yan Shī on their journey to the heart and origin of Kung Fu in the Shaolin Temple. You'll see some unique hidden gems, such as the Pagoda Forest, amazing acrobatics demonstrations and the ascent on Mount Song.

I have been practicing the Shaolin arts for 28 years now and I can assure anyone reading this that it is as awesome as it appears. In fact the more your practice the better it is. As you progress you begin to experience and cultivate Qi and then you learn how to elevate your consciousness through Zen meditation. It is a complete path and a way of life.

Where Shaolin kungfu can fight still a mystery for outside. cos they never encourage people to fight. But certainly the original Shaolin kungfu can fight as the warrior monks used to fight for the central government in ancient time. The government chose the soldiers in Shaolin

Also Bodhidarma did not teach Shaolin kungfu, but taught zen Buddhism and meditation. Bodhidarma lived during 500-600 AD

Hi, I have some questions about the trip if you don’t mind answering? 1) How long were you able to stay and how much did that cost 2) How did you come across this incredible experience 3) Were there many english speakers within the temple 3.5) if no, how were you able to communicate

Sure no problem, 1) 3 weeks and it was about 900usd. 2) internet :-) 3) no not many... some of them like foreign affairs can always help you. There are some (long term) students who can speak chinese and english. So don't worry to much about communication.

@@ShaolinBrummen did they spar at the shaolin temple? if they taught you to spar, was it using traditional kung fu forms or was it with sanda?

Good question! We only trained Taolu (forms) and no sparring. Schools near the Temple do train Sanda/sparring. If you want to learn Sanda you have to search/ask specific for a teacher who can do this type of training.

Hi! No need to talk Chinese. Ofcourse it's good if you do and you understand more.... But there are always student who talk chinese/english. So don't worry about it. Thanks for your compliment!

Thank you! happy to hear you like the video...Good question but actually no, you don't have to practice Buddhism to learn Shaolin. But you can't do bad things and must have respect for Buddhism, people, animals and surrounding... If you practise both it would be the best. For foreigners it's not easy to learn about Buddhism... maybe they need special classes for that :)

Everybody is welcome to learn Shaolin Kung Fu. No matter what kind of belief you have. U don't have to learn about Buddhism or have to bow for images of Buddha if you don't want to. They won't teach you things you don't want to learn. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

@@manikumar8892 For foreigners there is also nonveg food. If you like to eat veg: no problem at all... The toilet facilities are getting better and better.... not bad at all! It depends at where you stay ofcourse... some schools you have a toilet with every room and some places you need to share....

International students normally train 5 days a week. But you can train more in the weekend if you don't need the recovery...

Zeker, het kost ongeveer 900 dollar voor een maand training, onderdak en eten. Vliegticket is rond de 600 euro en visa rond de 130 euro. Het kan goedkoper er zijn kung fu scholen waar je rond de 400 euro per maand betaald voor training, onderdak en eten.

Certainly, it costs around $ 900 for a month of training, shelter and food. Flight ticket is around 600 euros and visa around 130 euros. It can be cheaper there are kung fu schools where you pay around 400 euros per month for training, shelter and food.

Taneisia Grant Shaolin temple only accepted men and there are other specific temple for women but they don’t train Kongfu for women. However, you can go to Martial art school which accept all genders.
