I will apply different shape properties to the same puppy pictures to show you how your laser will engrave based on the shape property settings in LightBurn. Adjusting Gamma, Contrast, Brightness and Sharpness can have dramatic effects on the pictures you produce with your laser. I am just learning this process but thought you might like to see what I've learned.

probably the best bit of info i have got from videos, it was helpful that you actually showed the difference in the results so we can see what they do, as apposed to people just saying do this setting and that setting

Robert, I cannot thank you enough for your very generous and extremely imnformative tutorial. The way you explain things is enlightening and refreshing. I am brand new to Lightburn and lasers. My laser won't be here for another ten weeks, but I am trying to familiarise myself with lightburn in the meantime, and this tutorial was exceptionally good. thank you so much. I have just replicated what you have done with a photo of my dog :-) cant wait to get the laser noew and see how it turns out! I dont know how to add an image, but if I could , I would happily show you and see what you think.

Great video! I learned a lot. I never realized that the shape properties tab dealt with images, I always thought it only pertained to geometric shapes. There is one thing that no matter how many videos I watch I don't understand and that is Gamma. It seems Gamma corrects an image to match what my eye would see if looking at the original, but when I slide it back and forth, I don't see any change. If you are looking for an idea for a video I would suggest a detailed discussion of Gamma, image sensors, monitor correction, etc. In any case thanks for the great video.

Hi Thanks for a great video. I'm really now to laser engraving. I use ORTUR OLM2 PRO S2 to engrave / cut, and using LightBurn as software. I would like to ask you, did you used BMP or PNG files? And about the speed. 200 is really slow. It's taking so long to engrave. And at the end, the results are too bright. What should I do? Again, thanks. Be blessed.

Hi and thanks for watching, there are lots of patterns out there for honeycomb pins. I have found you will have to tweak any pattern to fit your honeycomb bed. Give etsy a try that way it will only cost you a buck or two.

I've tried importing three different high resolution photos into lightburn, and none of them even look close to the image of the pup on the left (adjusted) in your video. Do you have a video specifically dealing with importing pictures, and that process specifically, to get the kind of clarity of the image on the left?
@robertkofoed9118
@robertkofoed9118 3 года назад
when you import the image it will look more like the one on the Right. the untouched one. you apply the modifications in the shape properties tab to get the looks of the adjusted one.

Robert, I have watched you video and others but still can't get my head around this engraving a photo on slate or tile, I can do it all but my settings for the photos all produce poor engravings, any chance you can have a look at the photo for me and give me some pointer. I am 70 computer literate, only been engraving since December, but with this I am dumb lol.
@computercreationz
@computercreationz Год назад
When engraving a picture on slate since it’s a black background and you want to engrave a white picture you need to invert your image before it’s brought into lightburn. Without doing this it won’t work. Hoe this helps! Thanks for watching

I imported our image, duplicated and only see one layer "Image" in the Layers panel? Min Power is grayed out. Shows Dither Sample bottom of box.
@computercreationz
@computercreationz 3 года назад
Once duplicated you have to change the color of one of the pics by selecting a different layer color.

How did you get the layers tab on the side?
@computercreationz

Just to the left of the black 00 layer you will see a some vertical dots. Hold your mouse over that and you should be able to drag your layer palette where you want it. Very Handy

@@computercreationz I am using a diode Laser. The laser master 2. I have changed the min power before, and noticed that if I have it set to dither, or greyscale I can change it, just not Jarvis. I’m sure it’s probably a setting that I’m missing lol. And sorry, I’m only a few months part time into learning Lightburn.

A couple of hints to get you started. good quality pictures that have a high resolution is critical for good laser pictures. Ones that are from a text message or something like that will never give you great results. I would recommend going to the free photo web sites and garbing some great photos that have a white background. The white background wont laser. This is a great place to start! Thanks for watching my videos.
