@greg2797
@greg2797 2 года назад
I'm glad the comment section knows whats up lol Kareem played against plenty of other 7ft players. The height thing is a misconception. Shaq himself knows and has said Kareem was better. Also you can't talk about Kareem's competition and act as if Shaq played against nothing but great Centers. Shaq peaked in a weaker era of big men. When he was in Orlando he played against some greats and had back and forth battles with them like Ewing, Robinson and Hakeem (who schooled him) But when he peaked in LA most the bigs were retiring out and all the talent moved to the PFs like Timmy, KG, Dirk ect.. Shaq was playing against some trash ass bigs. I don't want to disrespect Shaq because he is top 5 big man no doubt along with Kareem, Hakeem, Wilt and Bill Russel but if we going to try and say Kareem played against bad competition than Shaq played against worse. And you only saying that argument because you can't believe someone put up more dominant numbers than Shaq lol
@vinnypaolini9116
@vinnypaolini9116 2 года назад

@alexanderthegreat5649
@alexanderthegreat5649 2 года назад
Exactly. I've researched it plenty because I hate that argument and the avg height for those PF/C was actually slightly taller in Bill/Wilt days. Of course Wilt was the biggest because there just aren't many 7ft people period it doesn't matter what era we're talking about but they were consistently at 6'10 at those positions that's nowhere near the case today. Look at Rodman and Ben Wallace like they weren't much taller than Magic Johnson(granted yes he was a hybrid because not many pg were that tall LOL) But y'all get my point Ben was 6'9 and became 1 of the greatest defenders of all time and rebounders and he did it in Shaq era dude avg 15rbs at SIX FOOT NINE and Shaq never did at 7ft 1 and we've seen Ben play good D on Shaq. But besides the Rudy Goberts aren't many 7ft let alone really good one's now dudes are playing C/PF at 6'7-6'8 every night. Draymond is the dedicated 4/5 at 6'6.... Kobe and MJ height 😳 that was not the case in Kareem, Oscar, Wilt, Russell days. There weren't 5'10 players either the pg's were taller than a lot nowadays, I won't argue that it doesn't necessarily mean 1 is automatically better than another because of size but the whole argument casual fans have about that is so misconstrued.
@greg2797
@greg2797 2 года назад
@@vinnypaolini9116 So you can disagree with me saying schooled (although Shaq says so all the time) but saying "22 year old Shaq" means nothing. He was in his 3rd year avg 29/11 on 58% shooting. That's not your average 22 year old. Shaq was also runner up for MVP that year. Shaq was not the only one doubled. Shaq was never known for great defense, they absolutely were doubling Hakeem as well. But they defended each other most of the time and Hakeem came out on top with a sweep avg 33ppg. That's getting schooled to me. Shaq was not the best player on the floor. That much was shown. Shaq says he couldn't figure out Hakeem and was the only big he faced he couldn't get the best of. Lastly, Orlando was a #1 seed in the East and went 57-25, Rockets were a #6 seed and went 47-35. Orlando were favorites to winning not the Rockets so no Hakeem did not have the better team. Penny Hardaway made all nba 1st team and Shaq made all nba 2nd team. Orlando had the better team and were favorites to win with the better seed, MVP runner up on their team. Penny btw avg. 25/8 on 50% shooting. Now of course Orlando ended up getting swept and Rockets obviously ended up playing better as a team in the finals but we not going to act like they were favorited and had the most talent

@@alexanderthegreat5649 yea dude in the glasses clearly don't watch ball that much or at least didn't back then. They even said they don't remember watching LA Shaq. Dude was hating a bit hard on Kareem. He was proving himself wrong with his own points. It was a different era, there was no one that could guard Kareem him, and they didn’t have to shoot the three. All reasons he was great. In the style of play at the time, he was unmatched. He scored more point than anyone WITHOUT the three by being a dominant force under the basket. Yes Shaq would have pounded him. When he played it was in a different, physical era. They weren’t even dunking in Kareem’s time but that don’t make him as low to Shaq as he made it out. It makes Kareem the most dominant center of his time. He got rings and the most points.

Most NFL Linemen can't do that ! Remember he was 7'1 275lbs. Shaq in his prime was 7'0 300 ! Kareem could barely handle him at the end of Wilts career ! That speaks volumes !!!!

George Gervin’s finger roll, that was Wilt, and then of course he was called the Big Dipper because he would often dip the ball into the basket versus dunk it. These guys don’t know what they’re talking about. Not to mention his incredible conditioning and strength. Shaq would be lucky to average 20 points on Wilt.

His ability to gain position, his footwork at that size, his agility, his post game, jump hooks, back spins into lobs, black tornado spin, drop steps, pivot game , passing, etc. he had game.
