Delisa let me tell you a little story. When my mother was a teenager she lived in San Jose California. Next door to her family lived a middle aged couple. The man was the type who never went anywhere, never did anything remotely exciting because he was always concerned with being “safe.” One afternoon he was sitting in his chair in his living room watching tv. Something came through the roof and stuck in the floor literally two inches in front of him. It turned out to be a bolt from the wing of a plane. If that bolt had landed just a few inches closer, it would have easily killed him. He was just sitting there in his own house on a Sunday afternoon watching tv and being “safe.” My grandmother said that after this happened to him, he began living his life differently. He and his wife went on a vacation for the first time since they married. He’d never traveled in his life. He started going lots of places. He hiked in the mountains knowing that bears lived there. He swam in the ocean knowing he could be chomped by a shark. He stopped being concerned with being “safe” and he started living his life. He lived to be an old man and his only regret was all of the years he wasted sitting at home being “safe.”
Why, their doing what nature intended for them to do, hating them would be the same as hating anything in this world doing what its purpose is here on earth.
