What do you think about this nozzle? Better or worse than the Vertex? What about the odor neutralizer... gimmick or not? Interested in hearing your thorughts!

Remarkable to see the difference in philosophy between Shark and some other manufacturers. Sebos are designed for easy maintenance, with toolless brushroll removal and generous cleanout ports. This, on the other hand, has a plethora of screws, hides some under covers, and needs security Torx bits to access for even the most basic maintenance! Insane! Who designs this stuff? I'd heard that they were disposable, but this really illustrates it.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
Yeah, once you get inside it you can see why vac technicians hate working on Sharks. The industry as a whole is turning to disposable machines, but Shark takes it to a whole new level. Intentionally making items so they cannot be repaired takes a special kind of sociopathy in my opinion. Hopefully the more people see videos like this the easier it will be for them to make informed decisions. Thanks for all your support!

I just bought a shark from Costco used it a few times barely caught a corner of a rug and the belt is stripped started taking it apart and was like screw this returning it and getting a different one that won't break as easy and easier to work on. Having trouble trying to figure out what to get.

I was wondering what the small random bristles towards the back behind the brush roller next to the hose clean out access were for. You showing that diverter bleeder valve made me realize that when pulling the vacuum back on the carpet, those bristles drag on it and open that breather valve. Thank you!

Hi. My Shark model is UV900 66. I bought it at Costco. Your video was great until you took off the plastic housing to get access to the fins. From there I cannot get the plastic cover off. I had screws in different places inside the vacuum then your video. And you are right it’s not durable plastic. I am going to try a bit longer, but it might just get put back together as it is.

I'm having overheating issues with mine ( i have the HZ3002) and it will run for about 15-20 minutes before the LED headlights starts blinking and the rollers shut off. It has a thermal protection but it didn't do this in the beginning so I'm thinking something needs to be replaced or the roller has a lot of build up. Do you know what give it the thermal protection and how to replace it? Great video.

I bought a shark duo clean about 5 years ago and I honestly thought I was upgrading from my old bagless Bissell. This past holiday I visited my brother who had been stationed in Germany the past couple years and he had a sebo k3 that he used. Needless to say I was shocked at how well that thing work. Ever since I've been home I've been looking at replacing my shark. I've got it narrowed down to either a Kenmore 200 series canister, Bosch formula electro duo or a miele compact c2 power line with the electric power head. The Kenmore would be new the others would be used. My home is 70% hardwood and 30% medium pile carpet and advice on which machine would clean the floors better would be greatly appreciated
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
Sorry for the delay! For your situation I would go with the used Miele all day. The Kenmore is not nearly as well made and I think you would be disappointed compared to the K3. The Bosch is a great vacuum, but they haven't been made in a long time and parts are becoming hard to find. The Miele is a great machine without either of those issues. Hope that helps!

You can either have a softer plastic that absorbs impacts which is what would be best for a vacuum. Or a harder plastic that will crack or break on impacts but is more rigid. Personally id rather have softer plastic that absorbs the impact instead of breaking. My shark has fallen over countless times and has never broken.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums 8 месяцев назад
It depends on the location and application. That is part of what goes into designing a machine, what plastic to use where. But Shark plastic is extraordinarily cheap... for the most part. Doesn't mean it will break in every circumstance, though.
@heh2k

I can't smell anything from the cartridge. Bizarre it sucked up thru the vacuum. Shouldn't the post-motor HEPA filter remove it? Can't it condense inside the motor?

How easy to replace the lower hose? It seems to fail after a few years.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
On the older machines was made out of cheap vinyl which would disintegrate. However, the new ones are plastic and should last the life of the vacuum (4-7 years).

Sharks are disposable that it’s true. But since the 80s in Europe they started with the disposable vacuums because they started moving vacuum cleaner production to Hong Kong and Taiwan and later to China. This changed the way companies started to manufacture focus in recycled materials, vacuum cleaners from companies like Bosch, Royal Philips and Electrolux AB (not the current Aerus) started selling at the end of 90s and so on, from 30 to current 70 % recycled material. Shark different than others uses light ABS but it does not look recyclable. Future appliances must be recycled because this things tend to burn the motor or electronics or jam mechanical parts and broke. Still brands like Dyson or Shark does not look to be disposed properly to be recycled due to the way they are build. They need to be disassembled to take apart materials like screws from plastics. Easy disassembly favors repair but also dispose and recycle. Computers or telephones are now under scrutiny to be easy to repair with the right of repair. Same could apply to vacuums. Just an opinion. And again excellent video.
@HouseOfVacuums
@HouseOfVacuums Год назад
I really wish there was a way to recycle them here. I can't even guess how many I've sent to the dump. Where I am located there is no one who will even touch the ABS, but I do strip off the metal parts like cords, motors, and PCBs and recycle as much as I can. It is truly sad that while the world is starting to realize that "green" is better, we still have so many way we could improve that most people are not even aware of. Keep up the good work there in Europe, hopefully we'll be able to recycle the ABS one of these days!
@hoovernunez
@hoovernunez Год назад
@@HouseOfVacuums thanks for the answer, by the way I receive because of the algorithm, I supposed, advertising about BoReTech recycle machines !!!! They manufacture machines that are already using US and Europe technology integration to recycle PET, ABS, PVC and many other plastics. The technology I didn’t knew it’s there already in recycling companies in the US. My original comment was to congratulate technicians that disassemble those vacuum cleaners before they throw away. A vacuum cleaner has PCB electronic cards, cable connector, plastics, screws, springs and motor that needs to be taken apart from the main unit and send to the municipality. Each municipality could be able with those small pieces and cards to send those to recycling companies to clean, chop and start the recycle process more easy since some of this parts are recovered to be use or dissemble in other companies. Only a technician that knows how to fix the appliance can take it apart and provide more parts to be recycled. Appliances not disassembled are chop and compres to be throw to a locations. But appliances properly taken apart encourage to the municipality to recycle either by them self or selling the parts to specialized companies. It’s a long way to start the reduction of the Pacific Big Plastic Patch. The work looks big, anyway thanks to lend your space just to express an opinion and as you say this is the place for it. Thanks. Sorry English it’s not my original language.

Even if we measure Shark by Shark from even 7 years ago, they've gotten even worse for even more money. Which is a shame - I wish others would put a light on the handle for when you use it for tools. My XL from 2017 still works, if only because I stuck a new powerhead on it from a newer model that uses the same body. Which, isn't really a great setup, at all, because now the light on the handle stays on all the time, and you can't select low speed agitation with it.

Do you folks actually sell Sharks? They seem very overpriced given their bad construction and cleanability. Sidenote: perhaps in future you could do a carpet cleaning comparison between Shark and Sebo? As for nozzle being better or worse than Vertex: maybe a tiny bit but otherwise another cheapie throwaway.
