The “influencer” valued the product at $10 million because of his reach, not the product. He essentially priced it based on his ego. His own narcissism undid this pitch.
@@ralphpinkins5619 He never cared about the product; only his own image. Again, he is a narcissist and attached onto this product like a leech just to cop a bag.
More than the coffee maker ,looks like Ross was the product 😂😂I still know nothing about the Coffee maker but only that Ross can get impressions 😂which they don't wish to buy 😂
bro.. he was playing the part of a self-obsessed influencer, they obviously didn't come for a deal they came for publicity, a different market of people
Just went on the website, and it's a scam. The sharks probably peeped it when that youtuber popped up. Most people have not received the product and they're being sued by Kickstarter for a breach of contract. Yikes!
I actually came across this months ago and ordered it thinking wow this is what I need especially how often I drink coffee and I have yet to receive Or any update yet mind you this is been about three months ago luckily I was able to dispute it with the bank
It's a really good idea, similar to the LunchEaze lunch box, but it needs to be actually portable, not something that plugs in to make coffee. Charge it at home or in your car and then be able to take it with you and switch it on without plugging it in.
Y’all realize they probably went for the advertising. No human would value the company at 10mill. Everyone knows Ross he don’t care about a shark he just wants to get the idea out their
to be honest, it was the influencer guy that more than likely messed it all up. He is trying his hardest to make it seem as if its his idea or design or coffee machine. he is just a brand. Kwaku needs to ditch him legally now and work on his design alone and pitch again or ask investors. white boy is the issue guaranteed
update. Looks like their out of business, multiple 1 star reviews with customers saying they didnt get their own cup and the cup is sold out. It failed miserably
Inventors: PLEASE GET YOURSELF AN HONEST SALESPERSON… it’s incredibly hard getting a hardworking, honest salesperson. Influencers only take you so far with new products.
Ha exactly my thought. Guarantee you he wouldn't have asked for 1mil without the influencer. He would've asked for something reasonable and maybe a shark would've gotten behind him and really helped out
@@Kevinmac1120 exactly, that "influencer" has most definitely rang up 5 star hotels and been like "im an influencer and il make a post about the hotel so you should let me stay for free"
Exactly the influencer crapped the deal. If he started with just slightly over evaluation, and came alone or even just a side host, he’d walk away with a shark. Products actually legit
I genuinely feel bad for the guy who created it. Him getting the influencer was a terrible idea. It’s funny the influencer said anything he backs gets millions and millions, and he then says he’s been behind this product strong, then says they had 40k sales to date. 😂
But then he deflects and says “oh but it wasn’t a serious push.” Like dude, get a clue. Your 100M impressions were 💩. It means 100M views of a photo but no one bought. Think about it, what does a funny grandma & her grown man baby have to do with a brand new coffee? People were confused. If the engineer wants a social media influencer, go get a big camping or DIY channel influencer to partner with. Someone relevant with credibility. You’ll start getting more sales from people that can actually benefit from it.
Plus he said he didn't even push the product yet he had it on boats and other areas in his life, so it would have got seen by many, good product bad valuation is what killed him there even with the rosco man there 🤣
If you're a social media influencer who needs to introduce who you are and emphasize how many followers you have and yet your audience doesn't seem to care, you're not that bankable.
I mean, I have no love for the guy, but you are dead wrong. If you have the audience this guy is claiming, you are bankable. Your just arent involved in the industry he targets. I can name 5 or 6 influencers in the sports card word that you have never heard of, but in my world they are rockstars and make hundreds of thousands a year on content and advertising.
@@mully107 definitely true. But there's no reason why they should've only sold 42k in product He seems more like an entertainer than influencer, and they grossly overestimate how much their audience trust what they say about products
That's literally not true lol. There are so many influencers out there, there is a very low probability that these sharks, who are older in age, will know all the influencers. Just because you're not Kylie Jenner doesn't mean you can't still be a successful influencer with the ability to sell.
Not really. They are simply pointing out they have a following and that they are potential clients. If anyone is the narcissist it’s the sharks for making people dance for them on national tv for money.
@@TeamTwiistz No. They're an entertainer that is used for an advertising platform. Boasting that your goal is to manipulate... sorry, "influence"... people and labelling yourself as such is incredibly ego-centric and narcissistic.
Slight problem.... It's called a Thermos. You pour in several cups of coffee, and it keeps that coffee hot for hours. Plus, it comes with a built-in cup.
@@TeamTwiistz lmao, you actually believe the bullshit he spews? And if you really thinks he already makes millions of dollars then why hasn't he himself invested in the company lol Nice try Rosco Man
@@thanos99yearsago82 Is his grandma the kind of grandma that is wholesome and makes you want homemade cookies? Or is she a crass sassy grandma like Sophia from the Golden Girls?
i feel bad for the black dude. he almost cried at the end but Mark is right, the product is too much of a hassle than a convenience and for that reason the sharks are right when the influencer overvalued it
I feel like it would be easier for campers to make coffee in 5 min than doing the the whole fire pit, boiling water, pouring etc, waiting for water to boil. Same with van travelers.
Influencers don't really sell much unless they're famous celebrities. Someone with a large number of followers, doesn't mean they'll have influence over selling to their followers.
Free marketing of their product n also the other investors may approach them with realistic amount., I thought it was intentional too, but they still was expecting a offer I guess just to reject it., n the Sharks damn well knew it as well, so they did not bother n pulled it out as this had happened b4.
they could have gotten 40k for 100% ownership. They never judge it on the idea alone. They know the competition and that numbers don't lie. He was the wholr 10 mil too short to propose such a deal xD
The social media influencer guy totally misjudged the valuation. Guy from Ghana seemed genuine. Whenever you're asking for funding, the investors always invest in current valuation not magical projections. There's one more issue with the product which is the chord to heat up coffee. If they could make battery operated and rechargeable, this would be better. I like the biodegradable coffee cup approach too.
you know that the valuation of 1 million came from the "influencer", felt bad for the other guy he could achieve much more by himself he is very likable he could have come up with a reasonable number
When the influencer mentioned how the channel is built around his 94-year-old grandma, the sharks were all thinking the same thing. But didn't say it out of respect 😂
I love how people who are privileged enough to travel, actually learn the culture. Like when Daniel knew about the guy's background and what day he was born, I was like danggg this dude is so rich with cultural knowledge. Too bad they didn't get the deal, but that evaluation was absolutely out of this world. How is having 42k in sales and an influencer who's main star is his grandma going to guarantee multi-million dollar sales. I know the sharks are egomaniacs, but if I had their money and someone offered me this type of proposition I would have been offended too. Just my IMO tho
I fact checked this Ross Smith guy and he has: Facebook 11M Instagram 112K RU-vid 2.3M TikTok 18.1M These add up to 30.6M not 45M, Plus, do you really consider your 14 year-old following on TikTok and Facebook as potential customers?? This guy is fake and annoying
"these pods are so wasteful and bad for the environment! They take thousands of years to break down!" *wastes 1,000 plastic pods in pointless demonstration*
@@rashotcake6945 are you saying they picked up those pods off the ground, cleaned them enough to load a food product into them, loaded them into a filler machine, and filled them with something? who filled them? who would go through the trouble of picking up $10 worth of plastic pods? a competing business?
@@sams9124 I see what you mean, and I'm sure you're right that they purchased the empty cups. But, a thousand unused plastic cups is a lot to throw away for a demonstration, especially while talking about how they take thousands of years to break down
His grandma is primarily the reason hes succesful, god fobrid something happens to her he doesnt really have any pull as an individual. Pretending like he makes any company worth 10 million is silly, the engineer is a smart guy and should work to sell this on his own.
So true! I literally had no idea who he was until he showed a picture of granny! Her I instantly recognized! Engineer guy should've brought granny along instead of mr. narcissist 😂
Modest Ghanaian guy: I gave up my life in Ghana, busted my *** cleaning toilets at 5am, saw a gap in the market and engineered this useful product. Arrogant American guy: I make videos with my grandma and get lots of likes so that's worth 10 million dollars

My first investment with Mrs Clara gave me profit of over $24,000 us dollars and ever since then she has never failed to deliver and I can even say she's the most sincere broker I have known
This is where people's social media influencers have overrated themselves and are nothing compared to business owners. They need to differentiate "like" and "impressions" from actual sales. It's sad because if he was truly invested in the product, he would have pushed it directly to his how many millions of follows to have direct-to-market sales. You can see he wanted to promote himself when he shows off his grandma and himself without even including or promoting the coffee maker...he was upset no one asked about his "backstory" as they did with the creator. It is sad but few influencers have business acumen, this guy had none and failed the guy! Great product though, well needed!
There’s no way they didn’t bring that valuation to shark tank just to get publicity. The “influencer” was out of line and overconfident. It’s a really good product, i hope they find the good approach
That’s why they sell thermos. Today’s thermos can keep coffee hot for hours in cold temperatures, they also come in different sizes. I saw one in Academy gallon size, that’s enough to keep everyone at work happy and warm.
There are a lot of travel units out there that are smaller and you can grind your own beans. This is just free publicity for them. I already have a travel coffee maker so for those reasons I am out!
The influencer definitely ruined it. I know who he is but i actually recognize his grandma more than him. I didnt realize who he was until he showed his grandma. Lmao
It seems like a good idea, but seriously it is not practical. Buy a good thermos for 20 bucks, and bring it to the job site, or spend $120 on that gizmo, to make what looks like a 6 ounce cup of coffee, pay for the pods, clean it every day. Also, if you are on a work site with 10 guys, all 10 do not run out for coffee. 1 maybe 2 will make the coffee run. They are trying to solve a problem that really isn't a problem.
The “influencer’s” hubris ruined that! I’m convinced the tik tok/RU-vidr/whatever persuaded him to ask for a million. Very smart and innovative product. I’m an electrician and this would be a godsend on construction sites, in rural areas!
He’s solely asking that because of the social media guy….. impressions doesn’t equate to sales smh 🤦🏾♂️ especially when you’ve tried to sell and your numbers don’t justify what you’re asking for
