Haha I’ve done this a few times, doesn’t feel right to toss it in the trash when I know a few swipes across a bench stone and it’s like new. Saves a trip to the store as well.
Laid carpet in the mid 70's and we always sharpened ours with the hook knife hone. Been doing it ever since. Sharpen them 3 or 4 times then change them.
i have seen devices to strop safety razors before, but they only strop one side of the blade, the side that you can get to. i didnt like buying those expensive replacement heads, and we to straight razors instead :}
I mean, I really wanted to watch this, but at SEVEN MINUTES IN, literally nothing had been done or said in regards to sharpening a utility knife blade. I give up.
The philosophy of their creation for utility blades is to replace them. I know we can sharpen them, we can sharpen almost anything that is not soft but if we gonna sharpen our blades I prefer to use a decent knife instead of utility blades.
