sharpening hair clippers
i have used an oil stone to sharpen it, basically flattening the back of the cutter to square up the points that cut.
then i have put a small amount of light oil on the back of the two faces where they touch
AvE has a good video on this

I’d recommend checking out another video available on You Tube that describes how to align the blades and tune the clippers.

Why do you only sharpen the moving blade ?
@Coyote973
@Coyote973 2 года назад
Nice, but I would do it in different way - the same used to rectify the engine head or diesel injectors. Basically you do need a thick glass, then you tape the sandpaper 5000 on the glass and you move back and forth. The glass is fully flat, use diesel fuel to wet the sandpaper.

I would have thought you would have cleaned the oil and filings off after cleaning.

Why do you think the inner blade has 2 holes . No screws are attached and yet you see 2 holes . Any reason please share. Thank you .

when the top blade is attached the screws pass though the underneath blade

@ravireddyism no screws pass through... this is done for ventilation and cooling supposedly.

This is totally incorrect. You must not follow this advice I'm sorry. First off when you sharpen a set of blades you sharpen them both to assure proper seating of the blades together. That is why they're sold as a set. They're sharpened on the same plate, preferably a plate with almost a flat drop unlike the blades that are detachable known as A5 blades that require a definite hollow grind. Adjustable clipper blades like these are done on a flat plate... which still has a small hollow grind or they won't cut. After sharpening you must clean all debris off and blast all residue off with a compressor... you then check the blades for proper grinding, reassemble, and oil... so much bad info on RU-vid its crazy .

What you spray on the stone and does the stone have to be wet
@jeremycreates
@jeremycreates 3 года назад
there is a small amount of oil on it it douse not have to be oil but the fluid helps the dust be removed from the stone and stops scratches on both the stand and the item being sharpened

@@jeremycreates can you pour water in the stone instead of oil
@jeremycreates
@jeremycreates 3 года назад
yes but I have never tried it if you are searching on RU-vid you will also encounter window cleaner being used again I have not tried this, some people will also use wet and dry paper on a piece glass instead of a stone this will be maintained flatter in the long run but again I have not tried that

Sharpening on a flat stone WILL ruin these eventually. Trust me. I ended having to buy new blades. These have a very slight concave finish to them, and using a flat surface takes that out.

Hi thank you for the information As i do not use them that often i have not sharpened them that often so am yet to experience a problem

Josh, what do you use instead of a flat stone, sanding paper?
@Mukdeni
@Mukdeni 3 года назад
The blade doesn't have to be concaved. It can be sharpened perfectly flat, but cannot not be convexed. The slight concave from the factory is due to it was sharpened on a sanding wheel.
@JmanRx81
@JmanRx81 3 года назад
@@Mukdeni I have to disagree. Now having sharpened a couple flat, they do not cut well and had to be replaced.

@@JmanRx81 sharpening clipper blades is hard. I have ruined a couple of them and yet succeeded. But I think that's because it's impossible to debur the back

Did you add oil or something to the stone?
@jeremycreates
@jeremycreates 3 года назад
Yes a little oil helps to carry away the dust that is created when rubbing the surfaces together, and a very small amount between the blades when reassembling the clippers also helps smooth operation
