- Clean, lubricate, and zero gap any clippers or trimmers with this 4 minute tutorial.
NOTE: Some clippers my require more force to get the two blades exactly flush together. In these cases, maneuver the small piece inside the machine onto which the small blade latches. In my video it is that small black piece. Moving that just a bit can help you align the two blades perfectly. Be careful not to apply too much force; it can break, of course.

Dude you just saved me time and money from returning some clippers and buying more expensive ones. My old ones broke that I've had for years and bought some inexpensive ones and 1st thing I noticed was they didn't adjust as short as my old ones. Started looking for other clippers online and kept seeing the term zero gap and looked it up on RU-vid and your video was the 1st I saw. Reopened the clippers I had packaged back up and did as u said and they are just as good as my old clippers that I really liked. Thanks so much for the help!!!

On the whal home cut pro. You can push it all the way. All you do is loosen the two screws push the blade back all the way and tighten while holding or pressing against countertop. Then take your fingernail and make sure you feel the bottom blade before the top(the one that moves). When cutting hair don’t press too hard or it can scratch. I just did this for the first time and the results were unbelievable. The clippers cut like a razor now.

Can I use a zero gap razor to get a look that resembles a slight grey on top after wet shaving it all off? I'm mostly bald but I l prefer the grey on top of my head that comes after 2-4 days of wet shaving. I'm wondering if this is a good strategy.

got to get me some of that barber oil.. I always thought that was what generous barbers put in their hand before putting that 10/40 on my hair. Personally I think clipper blade oil works a lot better on blades LOL As to zero gap yup just make sure your rail that sets the fader is not wobbling or you may still do damage to your customer.

@-johnny-deep-
@-johnny-deep- 3 года назад
Seems easy. So if all you need to do is zero gap the blade, you would just have to loosen the two main screws and adjust the position, and you don't need to take it all apart, correct (like, say, on a brand new clipper)? Also, since you said to still have the top blade extend *slightly* further than the bottom blade, "zero gap" would really be "tiny gap", where "tiny" is something like 1/4 mm?

Thanks! Good question: I briefly mention at the end that it's for precision, but a better reason is that if you're ever using the clippers without any blades, you'll be able to get a really short cut. So if you're using the clippers in the short setting without any guards, it'll be as close to a zero as you can get it. Does that make sense?

I have a Wahl Pro. If I loosen the screw on the gap lever it allows for moving the blades to exactly where I want them. Is that the same as unscrewing the 2 screws holding the blades together? It seemed like the easiest way. Although I still have to disassemble it to clean and oil. But will the blades remain zero that way?
@cjdig86
@cjdig86 4 года назад
The screw on the lever only tightens or loosens the resistance of the lever. It doesn’t allow for adjusting the position of the blades.

Do you recommend to zero gap if you will be using it to line up your beard?
@tedgtou

@Sheriff. 0 gapping is for fading, it helps with removing leaving fades lines for better blends. For beard, I would use a trim liner, they give a crispier lines and easier to handle.

Hi! Can I do it on a Wahl Icon too? I'm going to buy a clipper, I'v chosen the Icon, and I'd like a nearly zero gap cutting (about 0.1-0.3mm), because I want to use the clipper also on my face "shaving". I'll use the machine only at home, I'm not a professional. Will I Surelyt be able to do this with the Icon? Thanks for Your help! Viktor
@TipsforClips
@TipsforClips 6 лет назад
Viktor H, I’ve never tried the Icon. You can certainly zero gap Wahl clippers, but if you want to shave your face, you will not get a clean shave as you would with a blade. Zero with clippers is not as sharp as trimmers or blades
@viktorh9601
@viktorh9601 6 лет назад
Thank You! My goal on my face isn't a totally smooth skin so it'll good for me if it is adjustable to a near zero gap as You told. My doubt was only about that Icon's adjustability as in the video I'v seen.

@@TipsforClips Wahl Cordless Magic Clip gets excellent ratings even from competent barbers. But you will have to buy both a trimmer and a shaver. A trimmer would probably cause too many nicks and scars. My notes below may help: F: Zero-Gap Any Clippers in 4 mins - Tip #15 - Barber - Best so far!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YKJmk_hxD-o.html 1. Unfortunately this does not work with a Wahl Super Taper Cordless. The blade can not be moved as soon as the screws are in position. Or am I doing it wrong?
@trkersten
@trkersten 4 года назад
123 654 Nope, won’t work because the two holes in the blade and the two screws holding the blade have the same diameter. When I loosen the screws the blade is still fixed. It can only be moved when the screws have been removed. Maybe they have changed it with the model I have (Wahl Super Taper Cordless). I have now used two different screws to make it work like you have described. Thanks.
@Scardrewpro
@Scardrewpro 5 лет назад
So is it best to have this type of clipper as your fading or balding?
@TipsforClips
@TipsforClips 5 лет назад
Scardrewpro, zero gapping helps you cut shorter, so it’s good for a balding haircut, though you’ll need something other than just clippers to entirely bald it out. It also helps with precision
@joeblack621
@joeblack621 5 лет назад
It appears that most excellent clippers can cut hair to 0.8 mm but if you have a good shaver than it should be able to cut the hair from 0.8 mm to 0 mm safely.
@t.terrell7037
@t.terrell7037 Год назад
So for super low, balding haircut to get the look you need clippers and trimmers together? You can’t just use trimmers, like T Outliners by themselves, if your hair is already short and you want it super close? Thanks

Do you know if adding a thicker cord like the ones on the big trimmers to any small trimmer will add power to it and help with overheating..
@TipsforClips
@TipsforClips 5 лет назад
Sorry, I'm not sure
@joeblack621
@joeblack621 5 лет назад
Doubt it! This is because the same power would be outputted to the motor. The motor is the main thing that generates the heat. The best type of quality motor arguably is the Rotary motor. besides the quality of the hair clipper, obviously.
@ixionn563
@ixionn563 5 лет назад
Nope, the trimmer will still get the same input voltage no matter how much you upgrade the power cord, the cord included with it is designed to be thick enough of wire to carry the power. Unless your cord is getting hot to the touch or has serious damage such as exposed copper wire, there is no reason to replace it. You also risk voiding the warranty. Only thing I can think of is make sure the blades are oiled and that the machine is not clogged with hair and debris, if you're mechanically minded lightly adding oil the to motor bearings may help it, but I doubt this is the issue. (This is advice for everyone)
