So many people call this their favorite episode. It's easy to see why.

That couple at the end - I saw this as a kid and I never lost the message about dependence on superstition and fear.

William Shatner was incredibly handsome when he was young, but it's the vulnerability he can project that clutches at you. Shatner was a member of the Canadian National Repertory Theatre in Ottawa. He acted in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario. He was Christopher Plummer's understudy in Henry V. He's got two EMMYs and a Golden Globe and has written 30 books. How can anyone that beautiful be so talented?

In a diner in the 1960s, I saw them when I was a kid, these fortune- telling machines really DID exist! Twilight Zone is not really making them up! Didn't anyone else see them in person? But the ones I saw DID NOT have those Satan heads on them. I went to one of them, put in a penny, pushed down the metal thing, and got my fortune on a little slip of paper. I wish I saved them (would they be collectibles today?) I took out 6 of them, with different answers- after 6 they started over again.

As these episodes from popular media have become such an iconic part of our culture (like "use the force", "shields up"), everyone trying to understand our cultural history should have a basic familiarity of these stories. Thanks to you, someone can now make a reference to one of these classic shows without requiring the target to watch a 24 minute show. Having seen the original shows many times, and having worked in video editing, I appreciate the choices you've made and the service you've provided.

Actress PATRICIA BRESLIN as the wife. She married sports mogul Art Modell and lived in Hunt Valley, Maryland until she died. The couple is interred in their own mausoleum on the grounds of Druid Ridge Cemetery.

Cannot help but think this is a back lot in Universal Studios and the same one used for many a western including modern movies like the Back To The Future series.

I’ve heard somewhere that Shatner had such great chemistry with the actress playing his wife that they wanted to bring her back to play his wife again in the airplane gremlin episode. But she wasn’t available.

Watching this show in this way might tell you what the show is about but without the actual feeling of watching it. Not at all the same as watching the full show. There no sense of mystery or wonder or dread. Just the factual outline of it’s content.

It's fascinating how even intelligent people can get suckered into believing in fortunetelling devices of various kinds, the way that the young couple in "Nick of Time" nearly do. One of my favorite stories of this kind concerns the legendary French actress Sarah Bernhardt. When she was young, and just starting out in the theater, she got a contract with the Comedie Francaise, the foremost theater in France. Suddenly overwhelmed by the immensity of the prospect before her, she spilled ink on the contract she was about to sign. "Wait a minute!", she cried out to the Comedie representative. "Let me fold the paper over that blot. If it makes a butterfly, I'll sign it. If not, you can just tear it up." Once she folded the paper, and then unfolded it, there was the perfect silhouette of a butterfly, complete with antennae. And 60 years of theatrical glory followed.
