Im well aware of the results of using heat on your oil. Flashing with heat like in this video has minimal terpene loss compared to lower temperatures for longer periods under vacuum. For the record this oil was fully purged prior to the making of this video. The references mentioned relate to the use of the Terpenator MKIII. This video was only made to prove a point, not to push this as a new technique. This certainly isnt the ideal way to make shatter. I was only showing that there are many ways to get the form we want. This particular method goes against most current methods stating that heating above 120 makes runny oil. Im still looking for the scientific explanation of what is occurring here... As for as the clean room suit, what you cannot see is the 4 ft laminar flow bench to prevent airborne contamination. Dust, hair, mold, whatever is on your clothing gets into the oil. Ever look at your oil under a microscope? You may be surprised at what you find. Clean oils from clean closed loop equipment and clean rooms. Thanks for watching. E. Dabbinquartz

When you're scraping it up before you heat it, and it's still the consistency of ear wax, can't you just put it on top of a bowl of reefer and smoke it like that? Does it get you any fucked upper if you let it harden? When I was young, we used to get brown Turkish hash. A kilo brick of it had a gold stamp on it. It was the consistency of cheese. We even called it cheese, in fact. You could roll it in a ball, you could cut it with a knife, you could roll it into a skinny snake and put it in a joint, you could put it on a pin under glass, melt it between two hot butter knives, or just put it in your pipe and smoke it.

Another tip hack whatever Take a slab of shatter brush some terps on, let it sit for a day and you'll get a sugar wax with a wild terp profile. I prefer solvent free, but bho can be very good when done safely and correctly as seen here. Very cool vid, thanks for posting it.

I too am looking for answers. You tell me what Im making?Partially decarb'd shatter possibly. I will wait until I get some test analysis results before I make an assumption. I cant find any research papers or scientific reports of what is actually occurring in the various oil forms. Mostly just forum 'gurus' regurgitating info they have heard over and over. This goes against a good bit of the info Ive be told to be the laws of cannabis oil physics. Im just looking for answers really...

Haha the funny thing is. To make stable dab wax or shatter you need to make sure all the butane is boiled off. If it’s still really slime consistency then theirs butane still inside of it

Ive heated shatter slowly with a heat pack for 20 minutes and whipped it like hell. And heated it again and ended up with this really crumbly dabs. Nothing was wrong with it, it tasted amazing and burned nice. Not only that it turned white when it started out like this shatter on the Vid

I'm not sure what you did to the product inside the petri dish, but right after a normal extraction, the product can be taken and heat purged using a griddle. If the oil is heated enough, you can purify it as well as a vacuum purge could. The trick is to expose as much surface area to the surface of the griddle and mix the oil around. Don't overheat the oil. It won't be a shatter until it can harden once it is cooled down.

I just use a $10 USB powered coffee mug warmer and a parchment paper muffin cup. Less steps. No mess.

Everyone bitching needs to see this was done in 2013!!!!! Times have changed now that make it easier, before shatter was a hard product to get with out the right knowledge or tools. Yes now you can buy amazon set ups, but in 2013 we were lucky to even know how 2 make it.

You can repress the wax with a rosin press to get a good shatter without destroying the terpenes like he's doing this is what you do when you don't care about flavor and I'm pretty sure that heat gun doesn't go below 250 degrees which is where THC starts being destroyed

yea when your doing this all your doing is heating its up so hot is burring t h c out and degrading the wax like the guy be low get a vac pump with a puger

There are several alternative methods for cannabinoid isolation on my channel. This is an assumption, but these methods are easy to verify, and they have a number of advantageous features.

This is not shatter, this just wax melted down. Get it straight, shatter has no wax,lipids etc, and is super stable at high temps, I have left good shatter on a hot day and it was still good. Wax is what we have here, melted to a shiny glass like consistency, and passed of as shatter. Im sure this guy means well but facts are facts.

I have found with qwiso and other concentrates that heat is very bad for extractions as its much more sensative then flower. I have even read to bake your bud first at 200 for 20 mins. DONT DO THAT! You will get product faster but not nearly as good and tastes like crap. I run a q at a time. No heat long air purge (use a fan for faster evap) and get over 1g pristine oil every time mostly 1.2-1.5g with the .2 or.5 is the last wash thats not fit really for dabbing

I only do this obviously when I buy wax by mistake. wax keeps falling off my dabber. so I heat it slowly on a pan over the stove till it changes into a shatter like consistency. nothing bad happens I still get super stoned. it just sticks to my dabber alot better and doesn't fall off when I attempt to put it on my rig. once it's melted to the consistency I put it in the freezer for a few mins, mold into into a small cube and bam let's dab it homies.

i think some further explaining of the process is needed here... obviously he isnt a noob, and i personally applaud the sterile environment, but im gonna be honest with yall it depends on what the heat gun is used for.... if ur trying to purge it with it hell no... but if uve purged in something like a diy chamber, honestly afterwards it isnt crazy to use a heat gun quickly to get a different consistency that u arent getting.... that starting material looks like shatter to me... looks like the glass kiinda shatter where peices go flying never to be found again till weeks later covered in shit.. .which is why it seems he was using a heat gun... personally, if he is purging in diy chamber, and using an oven for a little after, hey if u wanna fuck with the consistency just a tad so its pull and snap i dont see a problem... ive seen quite a few hash makers with a heat gun on hand just in case. the only way to cancel out the necessity for the heat gun, would be to use lower heat and pull it sooner when its still pull n snap but before it goes to a full on glass like state.

I like the process I say to one there own lol but u might wanna look in to just a small vac pump just to pull out all the last but of gas and air.. I know airs not a problem when smoking but it helps stabilize it a lol more but I will b trying this maybe after my vac process.. I'm loving it tho.

Also wondering about the decarb. I will say that the slabs do look a bit cloudy in areas tho. Maybe the camera idk

I do a little home made style for vape. Haven't seen this step in the process. I usually heat mine up & drop it into cartridges with a few drops of ej-mix. It serves it's purpose. Anyways, liked the video man. Good job.

It would go a lot faster for you and save time if you do all the same physicall actions at once. Cut all the rectangle pieces of wax paper all at once, scrape all the material off Petery dish onto wax pieces, Then use heat gun back to back without having to even turn it off. See what I mean? I used to make shatter by using an oil slick pad and purge my oil in the oven on 175 in tell all the bubbles are gone let it sit for a few hours then put it to the freezer for a few more then let it sit for 30 mins an see if it breaks it's come out a little blackish but it smokes just like any shatter I get form the dispensary

That's not shatter... thats melted wax. Did you winterize? If so thered be no need for this "heat gun". As it would all purge out into one thin slab. By Doing this your probably trying to make patients or dispensarys think your doing small batch runs. When in reality. Your just taking a big lump of wax and meting it into smaller slabs. Giant smh

Yea dude ofcourse flash heating a crumble/wax will make it a shatter but your also destroying all kinds of terps in the process and we need them why not just do the extraction and dewaxing properly to make it a shatter

I watch a guy make fine honeycomb some that looked like it hand been sprinkled with sugar lol he took it laid it on parchment paper and set it on a burner at 110f until in had fully melted with in about 5mins when he fully cooled down it now looked just like shatter and it was hard not sticky to the Touch and would snap at room temp and it was 72f in that room he did not winterize it and it was clear clear like honey! what is this really it is shatter or a hybrid
