Love how Brian's reaction to Ross' "tossing Ewoks into a lake of fart." isn't anything about how it's impossible, and Ewoks aren't even really. No; it's simply "they'd shatter."

Yeah, you analize the possiblitiee quickly based on how an organism is buolt and you give people the anwser they are waiting for instead of laughing like a school kid. ...it's a normal person's approach to conversation. Here a scientist.. That's about it.

Yeahbut they *wouldn't* shatter becuse its well cold so the Ewoks would obvioulsy wear coats and hats and stuff. They'd look more like Paddington Bear. ............ And if any creature should be tossed in a lake of frozen methane if there's a god it *has* to be Paddington sodding Bear *first*

Liquid nitrogen is about 35 degrees (centigrade) colder than liquid methane, so the methane might not have quite the same shattering properties as nitrogen. They'd have to test ewoks in different formulations.

@ExpoFever Liquid oxygen has a pale blue color and is strongly paramagnetic and can be suspended between the poles of a powerful horseshoe magnet. Liquid oxygen has an expansion ratio of 1:861 at 20 °C (68 °F); and because of this, it is used in some commercial and military aircraft as a source of breathing oxygen.

All joking aside, methane is a component of farts but it's odourless, so it's not one of the gases we actually smell. One of the components which is not odourless is Hydrogen sulphide. Farts contain a variety of gases depending on your diet. Methane is produced whenever anything biodegrades and is the major component of what's called Natural gas. It's used for cooking, space heating, generating electricity, as rocket fuel and it's also one of the simplest carbon molecules with a high abundance in our Universe as a whole; so it's a bit silly to associate methane with farts specifically.
@CathyKitson
@CathyKitson 2 года назад
You've just spoiled the joke! Methinks you're taking it a bit too seriously!
@MrAlRats
@MrAlRats 2 года назад
@@CathyKitson I didn't spoil the joke, the joke was flawed to begin with and I just pointed it out. It's no different to, for example, someone making a joke associating Sumo wrestling with Chinese culture. Those who know that Sumo wrestling is Japanese will rightly point it out. Farts are hydrogen sulphide, not methane. Associating methane with farts is like associating water with urine. Water and methane are among the most abundant molecules in the Universe, so it's very silly to talk about them as if they're mainly found in urine and farts.
@CathyKitson
