Have you ever heard of phoniex artisan accoutrements CAD shave soap? A lot of people say it is very similar or dare I say exactly scented like barbasol, that's my suggestion if you haven't considered giving that a try. Also is the barbasol 100th anniversary any different from the regular barbasol? Scent or feel wise, or is it just only the look of the can that's different?
Cool. Reminds me of hurracane Maria when their was no water and lite we had to improvise with rain and day light just to go get ready for work. I remember several occasions I had to shave in the rain with Thunder's and lightning around me. Scarry experience don't want to go through that again. And just in case don't get any idea on doing that. I had to do it because of work. Scarry as hell.🙄
SL, I’m almost two months into DE razor wet shaving. It’s going well but I’m still hacking up my neck every other shave. Irritation, scratches etc... Is that common? What can I do to improve? My face in general is no problem.
Maybe only go down, with the grain of your whiskers. Going across or against, especially on the neck, can be risky. It’s better to have a little stubble than a lot of nicks and irritation.
I'm in France right now, staying just outside Nantes. We left on Friday morning and drove all through England, got the train to France and drove down here. Anyway that's besides the point, I had to have my first foreign shave this morning, I took with me a harry's trial set which also came with post shave balm. It was a much needed and refreshing shave, given the 30 degree heat!

Hey, Sinatra I could really use your help here... Have been watching your channel for some time, but started wet wet shaving myself only recently. I have EJ DE89, and I stopped at Astra SP blades. I still don't have a really quality shaving cream or soap, because I'm a student from Russia, people like me don't have a lot of money to experiment with products. So the problem is that my neck skin is very sensitive, and quite often it gets really really terrible razor bumps after shaving. It's just horrible, I can't shave more then two time in a week because of this. So, how do you think, will soft shaving cream (like Nivea) make any difference, is it worth trying? Or maybe it's all about practice and I just have to suffer for some time till my technique improves? Hope you'll see this and answer, I like your videos, they really are like little chats with a friend
likely your technique needs some honing. I suggest you go with Razor Rock, pick anyone of them. Some are extremely cheap. I don't know the razor you are using, but make sure it is sharp, use little pressure. I recommend you get a 24 mm brush and apply it with circular motion. Find a decent aftershave. You should be able to pair it with the soap. Finish with some Witch Hazel, then aftershave. Make sure you hydrate the skin before shaving and use hot water to loosen the beard. I don't know which razor you are using but this matters. His razor is considered to be mild. Some others like open combs are quite aggressive. Later if you want to invest you can get an adjustable (Merkur is excellent). So I agree with his hobby and shaving outdoors is excellent, but not with his choice of soaps. I find Barbasol to be very lacking in slickness. Go to Italian Barber, West Coast Shaving, Maggard Razor etc.
Just started wet shaving I used the astra blades with my Rockwell 6c. Seemed a little too much since I’m new to wet shaving. Would you recommend the personna lab blue or the Gillette 7oclock stainless steel. I heard the Gillette 7oclock are a step up in terms of sharpened but still have that smoothness. Which would you recommend?
Astra is already a pretty mild blade. I suggest you work on your technique and find the right plate on the Rockwell. When you know which plate you prefer and have mastered the technique you should buy a blade sampler pack. It has different sharpenesses that helps you find the best for your face. Check out Razor Emporium or the sampler packs from Ebay.
