After hours shave for our friend and neighbour, Saverio.... Noriko recorded it live for Farzad's FB profile while I was recording it live on Instagram at the same time!
love how the barber lathers him up....the sound of the lather machine....he has really thick set of stubble so alot of lather is needed for a close shave
Great shave, great video, looked very relaxing. Loved the scuttle and brush. But man, the shavette vs a real strait razor is unreal. Almost seemed like the blade was dull half way through. A strait w/ a good edge would have mowed through that grow with no issue! I'm aware barbers can't use real straits anymore due to regulations and laws, but it's unfortunate because I'm sure most barbers would prefer to use the real deal everyday.
for anyone who cares to comment who has experience, as a first time straight razor buyer, would a replaceable razor such as the feather be better than a dovo for $150? I would hate changing out and buying new blades but the feathers seem to get great reviews....any opinions?
Great video/relaxing. Do you not shave against the grain? I find it impossible to get a clean shave without doing this, particularly on moustache area. Fools Pass?
Not quite. A proper 3-pass DE razor shave and I'm bbs into dinner. Stubble not until the late-second day with a straight razor. Provided that straight razor is honed, stropped and in the hands of a professional.
If you don't know about DE shaving, I would be happy to help. It's more economical & greener than cartridges, and makes shaving fun and with better results too.
I'm such a huge fan of your work! What do you recommend for prep without the lather brush and soap. I work at deep blue barbershop in the US and using the brush and lather bowl is prohibited here
Your a very skilled shaver! Great video! It would be interesting to see someone with your skill level, or another barber shave themselves. I'm new at using a straight razor. It seems difficult to get certain areas. When a fellow is shaving himself one has to learn to switch hands, and use very different grips than a barber would use on a client. Those 9 strokes of shaving doesn't work for someone shaving themselves with a straight razor.
Because of the fumes of the bike when you start it. All the gass will be trapped inside the barbershop. This makes it a health issue and a unsafe place.
Sorry, just came back from Japan and wasn't checking the RU-vid account at all while we were away! I would just visit the Takara website because I honestly don't know if you can even get this model in North America anymore. We got ours six years ago....
