@highproofrazorcompany3938 but if these were a bit cheap, it would be easy for us students to get one but in my opinion, this is the best razor I've seen, and definitely it will be my favorite razor after i manage to get one
@@notpsychoanees9389 Thanks for the feedback! They're 100% made in the US which just costs our small business more, but we completely understand the frustration!
I'll stick with my Parker Solo Edge. I'm on a very tight fixed income. Can't afford or justify $120 for this thing. I do think it's pretty awesome, I would like love to get one, but it's not possible.
I will be surprised if they can sell many of these for $135. Even the $95 kickstarter price seems a bit high. The FatGuy kickstarter was only $90 and that safety razor was a lot more complicated to make. Plus, the Twig is only $70. Speaking of the Twig, how does the High Proof shave compare with the Leaf Twig shave? I ask because I don't get a comfortable shave using my Twig.
If I may suggest... Put the head of the twig flat on your face and then turn it just a bit towards the blade, till you feel it! Helped my shaves with the twig by a lot. Before that they were awful because I used it like a de, put it on my face where cap, blade and baseplate meet. Just razor burn. I hope it helps you like it did help me 👍🏼
@@SinatraLennon I would like to see that comparison. I can't recall if you've ever shaved with a Henson DE? Personally, I prefer DEs over SEs and the Henson is mild and efficient.
@@chubs2893 Thanks. If that is like "riding the cap" with a DE razor, I have tried that. My problem area is shaving under my nose, After a few shaves, I decided that if I had to focus that much to get a decent shave, it wasn't worth the extra effort. I had a similar issue with the Rex Ambassador. The RA's positive blade exposure was not comfortable because I don't enjoy shaving with a lot of blade feel. That's why I like my Rockwell 6S. It is effortless to use and I never get nicks. But I will try your suggestion to see if that helps. Thanks again.
@@BartBuzz If used like this you shouldn't have any blade feel. I think it's intended to be used like this. As de razor users we are just used to hold a razor different. Just give it a try. For me it put the twig on my favorite list, even though I like efficient de razors a lot more. 👍🏼
Hello sinatra you’re like a father figure lol and me and my friend do talk about you at times in our conversations. Love your channel and love your interaction with the audience. You do not feel like a youtuber but someone i know. Anyways keep it up ! ❤
How is the handle length? Only shaved twice with my new Supply Edge Pro. I’m feeling like I would have more control with a longer handle. Definitely need to get the grip sleeve
they could have put a filp top on it to were the top is attached and still magnetized but you just flip it over the back to pop a blade in then pull it back over to close it
i hope that razor comes too a Danish website, will not be buying it from America due to insane imports fees great shaving video fun stuff. Stay safe, cheers...Peter
I have no criticism of this razor. My observation is: it is a design that is already in production albeit in slightly different configurations. So, it is more a variation on a theme rather being an entirely original or unique design. Your solution to place the razor in a sandwich bag is a superb remedy. Another tactic would be to simply place a rubber band around the head. I've found that razors with magnetic head attachment seem to fall victim to detachment in a drop as this also happens with the SNMIRN DE razor.
Good review. For what it is the razor seems to be very expensive. I’ve got a Twig and it’s a great razor at a far more reasonable price. You can also buy an aluminium travel case for it. In any case, the Highproof is only shipped to customers in the USA so good luck to everyone in the USA that gets one on Kickstarter.
Hi Steve! Thanks for the comment. As a quick clarifying point, we are now shipping outside the US, just send us an email at Orders@HighProofRazor.com and we'll get you taken care of at the Kickstarter pricing. @@devenhunsaker9257 that’s interesting. I don’t fly a lot but when I do and have carry on they never say anything about my cartridge razor. Sure makes it harder to plan ahead!
Hello Sinatra. Quick question, have you ever tried out the As Seen On TV "Micro Touch One Classic Safety Razor"? Its the one that was endorsed by Rick Harrison star of Pawn Stars TV show.
We are finally getting our international shipping figured out! Send us an email at Orders@HighProofRazor.com and we'll get you squared away with Kickstarter pricing!
Similar to the One Blade razor. Does it shave same as far as pivot, weight, and angle press. A compare video im hoping maybe some time in future. Always a pleasure watching your reviews good sir.

The twig or thorn razors would have been opened after the same rough treatment. There is no resistance to opening them. Granted the head wouldn’t separate but more likely to be damaged.
I am from India and I am a great fan of single edge razors, presently I am using Leaf twig razor. Unfortunately these razors are not supplied to india. But I would be really very pleased to have this razor for me.
I got in on the 80 dollar one. 10 more than my Twig but this pivots witch kinda intrigues me. I wish the Twig did. Love single edge and DEs but this could be a fast mindless shave for when you need one. Guess I'll find out!
Great razor. They'll sell tons of those at $135. Look at the Overlander, shaves like a Muhle R89 and look at the price? Good thing it's not aluminum and not pot metal like the leaf. Much better value for sure. All the peeps in our hobby that put pot metal down but own the twig or thorn, tooii funny. Great shave SL! 🍻🍻🍻🍻
I like your videos. I've been using shave soap from caisson shaving company and there in house made blades and razor and so far I like them. Especially the soap. It would be cool if you ever got your hands on there products and hear how you think their products hold up to the competition.
I'm going to finally go get some finer aftershave splash since I was using pretty cheap crappy ones. I'm choosing between Clubman Bay Rum and Floid Genuine. Which one will give me better first fine aftershave splash experience?
This looks similar to the Broman razor from a few years ago. The head was slightly too wide and made shaving under the nose difficult. Furthermore it was so mild I ended up with razor burn. I eventually sold it on. This razor will find it difficult to compete with the twig I feel.
Hi Chris! The Twig can be a good option for sure. If you are looking for something made domestically, with a pivoting head and an unconditional lifetime guarantee, we are happy to help out! Have a great week!
It might be plastic, but the Gillette Guard single edge razor made in India gives a awesome shave for what u pay, basically pennies and also makes a good travel razor. Cheers🍻🥃
i cannot wait to get enough money to get one of these or the twig. for now im on cartridge razors just because i can get a cartridge for 1$ and shave with that cartridge for a month because i dont really shave very often but still its so irritating and i get razor burns mostly. cant wait to use SE razors and make shaving comfortable
@@SinatraLennon i wish i could save some but it's not easy for a student to do so In fact, im willing to get twig as it's cheap, but that one is also out of range for now i wish there is giveaways so i could participate and get a chance to win one
I really like the design i just don't like the magnet head or that i have to wait until December to get one if i pay now. Anyone recommend a high quality single bladed razer like this that i can buy now and receive it now?
@@chadwickhell oh nice, do they ship to the United States? Does the head pivot like the leaf does? I just want a single blade razor that takes half de blades so i can use my fether and astra blades that is ideal for shaving heads and faces
@@Forgoten214 yes they ship to USA, no the head doesn’t pivot, but doesn’t need to honestly. I use plate #5 and honestly don’t need any of the other 9 plates either. Watch some vids, it’s another neat razor for the collection and pretty cheap too.
Don't you need some weight in the handle for a razor to work properly? Popular triple blade razors often have a metal rod built into the handle to give them weight. I have a nice tradition safety razor and that is heavy.
Hi Pyotr! Great question.. This will definitely shave more like a cartridge razor than a safety razor. As a result, you will need to apply a bit of pressure to allow the pivoting head to engage thus the reasoning for a lighter handle. Hopefully that answers your question!
My great grandpa before he passed away I said what do you shaved with I forgot what he said they used techs, new type or old type etc I don’t know what they use???
I am looking to get into traditional safety razor, I’m considering something like this as a transition. I wish you would have compared it to the Thorne.
Thanks for the comment Wes! If you decide to go with High Proof, we have an unconditional lifetime guarantee. If you use the razor for a bit and decide you don't like it, send it back and we'll give you a refund with now questions asked! Have a good one!
Sure, but why? Get a Parker 99R, Merkur Progress or whatever and start shaving. If you want it milder, get a milder blade; if you want it more aggressive, get a sharper blade. Don't build a bridge on flat ground.
Technically, even cartridge razors are safety razors lol. The “safety” name came from the fact that they were safe to use, compared to the old, cut-throat, straight razors.
hello commented awile ago about getting my 1960 fatboy , well to update of amazon bought sandlewood cream better than my poraso creamy and like u use synthetic brush vegan friendly (im not though) badhert brush great oh by the way mine is on no. 3 saw on ex shaving co fatboy restored for £250 so from us £50 odd £72 in total shipping is ok i think, Ron newcaswtle uk p.s. thanks for the thumbs up u gave me!
Hi Nez! We are finally figuring out our international shipping! Send us an email Orders@HighProofRazor.com and we will get you squared away with Kickstarter pricing!
75.00 would be the ideal price for this razor…. If the price is 135.00 not many will buy it, especially since you can buy the incredible Henson razors for 69.00
Great vid AS ALWAYS!! Thank-You. I have over a dozen DEs. Lately I've been using the Henson AL13 almost exclusively. It's mild, forgiving and shaves close with no drama. I also have the leaf and I find it very aggressive and irritating (for me). How would you compare that High Proof to the Leaf? How "un-irritating" was it? PS-- looks like it'll be a bitch to get under the nose...comment? Thanks again. Ted.
