She Dares, She Leaps

She Dares, She Leaps was commissioned for the Mahtomedi Zephyr Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Laura A. Goucher for their performance at the 2022 MN Midwinter Clinic. The piece is a short fanfare that celebrates the determination, bravery, and boldness of women who have pushed beyond society's expectations of gender. The main melodic material features large leaps and scale passages that are constantly moving up, representing the bold leaps and constant determined steps of women who push beyond boundaries. She Dares, She Leaps is dedicated to women musicians everywhere.
