He’d manipulate me into thinking I was wrong, he’d guilt trip me into sex (which isn’t okay), he wouldn’t respect when I need my space and that I need my days to myself or go hang out with my friends. He was overall not considerate of my emotions.

One was only using me for my money. And the other was seeing someone behind my back and broke up with me on Valentine’s Day. Realized I am happier being single and have a cat and three dogs that love me.

For me she broke up with me because I was too afraid to be alone to do it but in hindsight here’s of list of red flags I missed: 1. She didn’t want to hug/kiss/fuck etc because “that’s just not her love language” so I tried doing nice things for her like she wanted and she didn’t appreciate any of it. 2. She only cared about her interests. I was constantly making an effort to try new things she liked but if I wanted to do something with her she was always disinterested. 3. She yelled and got mad at me over every little thing. One time I parked a little too far up for her liking so she screamed at me and made me move the car. 4. We were engaged and I got her a wedding planner for Christmas. Thought it would be a cute thing to do together. She didn’t seem happy and never touched it. 5. She wanted to sleep in separate rooms. 6. She spent way more time with friends than me. 7. After we broke up she started dating her ex that used to hit her. She literally flinched from the PTSD for the first year of our relationship but no I’m sure he’s the better option. 8. I make significantly more but I was paying basically all of the rent even though she could afford a little. She also asked me for money on top of that. She was just really selfish in general I guess. 9. She had no passion or ambition. Like literally didn’t wanna do anything with her life. 10. She wanted to have a child with me and would only sleep with me if it was to make a baby even though she was too mentally ill to work and and we were barely covering rent and bills. 11. She made no effort to make me happy but her reason for breaking up with me was that -I- changed and wasn’t fun anymore even though I tried to do things with her despite working 60 hours some weeks. 12. When she was out of work and I was working two jobs and going to school she refused to do things around the house. 13. She talked so negatively about me to her friends that they all hated me even though I treated her well. Yes I made some mistakes but I wasn’t the monster she made me out to be. She is by far the most toxic person I have ever met. I’m glad to have time to work on myself now. Sure I’m still hurt and healing but I’m so much better off. I always justified her poor behavior with “she has mental issues” but therapy did nothing to fix it. If anything she got worse. I wish her the best and hope shes safe and not being beat by her ex that she chose to go back to. Her own mother told me I’m better off.

I'm always told stuff like "it won't work out" and "you'll break up" regarding my relationship with my boyfriend. I understand I'm young, but my boyfriend has made me feel like no one else has before. He's made me feel loved, listened to, and the happiest I've been in years. I've been told by many, even close people I used to respect, that he's not going to be the one I marry, and that I can't find real love at my age. It hurts. It makes me doubt the relationship, and on many instances it's caused me to become suicidal. He's been there for me through many hardships and we're planning on moving in together fresh out of high school (once we have our finances put together). My mom doesn't like it because she doesn't like the fact that he doesn't pay for everything (she's very traditional, I prefer we pay 50/50 or what seems fair according to the situation, not just him paying for everything). I truly believe he's going to be the man I marry and grow old with, despite only being with him for a year and a half. I hope that by moving out and us living together will give us a chance to get away from the disapproving words and form a view for ourselves, out of our parents eyes. I want to be able to plan a romantic evening with him without my mom saying "the MAN makes the dates!" And be able to love him without the seeds of doubt put into my mind by others.

There were many reasons why I knew my ex wasn't the one, but one of the last eye openers was when my horse unexpectedly passed away. He was more worried about eating lunch than comforting a completely broken me. On the drive home from the barn, I'm sobbing hysterically holding my horses halter and the tail my barn manager saved for me and he kept pitching a fit about being hungry. The idea of dropping me off at home and going to get something for himself quick wasn't good enough. He made me GO INTO A RESTAURANT AND GOT MAD THAT I WAS A STILL CRYING. Angry he finally dropped me off at home and said he was going to go to McDonald's quick. He didn't come back home for 4 hours. When he did, he smelled of booze and said he met friends at the bar for drinks to decompress because my horses death messed him up.

After my brother helped me make my first D&D character my ex said he's glad my brother left, all that "nerd shit " makes me want to punch him. I realized I had two younger siblings and the bio one was the least annoying 🙃

This is life, you have to go through it. You avoid it, you don't grow. Don't be afraid. Keep on keeping on. It always works out if you're a good person. Trust.

We had been dating for 2 years and she had just moved into my house. Everything seemed normal until we were babysitting her niece (who was 3 years old) for a weekend. When her niece had a crying fit, my girlfriend had her own little meltdown and left. Anyone who tells you that it's "inappropriate" or "a sin" is in denial. Is divorce a sin?? Is having kids with someone only to break up your family because you just can't live together a sin? If you don't have the same religious beliefs, financial beliefs, personal moral beliefs, or child rearing beliefs, you need to know these things before committing to a WHOLE LIFE TOGETHER! Are they clean, tidy, a slob, filthy, a night owl, a morning person, an A hole behind closed doors and wonderful in public?? Some of these things you can one REALLY LEARN from living with someone. Talk is cheap! It's actions that matter.*

We dated in high school and stayed together when I went in the Army--three years grand total. Once I got to my first permanent duty station, I flew her out to visit me. She banged my room-mate when I was at work.

I got criticized for laughing out loud at TV programs I found funny. He couldn't make a decision and made me make every decision. At 40+ years old, all he could talk about was college and his fraternity. His sister is evil incarnate. A serial cheater, took her 2nd husband for everything he was worth. Broke up her now-husband's marriage. Every time we visited his parents, all they could talk about was her. The worst part? He stole my dog. A rescue pibble he repeatedly threatened to kill. I hate this "the one" idea. Compatibility is an achievement of love. Not a prerequisite. The one is an idea. If you got a list of traits for your "one", throw it out. Better yet, burn it so you cant get at it again. Seriously, you know about "the one" and see them so clearly in your head and can tell who is or isnt "the one" based on it because you made "the one" up. You're not setting because you chose to be with someone who doesn't fully make your cut. Nobody will. Everyone has problems. Any long term relationship comes with those "You're the wrong person" and "i dont feel this magnetic pull to you" moments.
