Episode 15:
In today's video, Jill does her own differential fluid change. Now we do know it has been changed at least once and we know this for 2 reasons:
1) the ID tag is no longer on the cover bolt and
2) the fluid, when drained, looked good. It wasn't cloudy or dark, or discolored. It was transparent.
This indicated it was done not long ago.
That being said, we went ahead and did it anyway because we drained a good part of it just to see the condition of the fluid, so we were rather committed into finishing it.
This also gave us the opportunity to install a new gasket because the current one was leaking a little bit.
This particular car has a 7.5" rear end and is a limited slip differential and it requires a full synthetic with a friction modifier. ALL Limited Slips require this type of fluid.
Special thanks to @AutoZone for carrying the items we need to get this car done. Wonderful staff there. We used Royal Purple MaxGear SAE 75w-140 (this is what the rally mustang uses). Each car is different.
