She-Hulk: Attorney at Law review episode 2 of the Marvel MCU series on Disney Plus. The hulk is now on a spaceship and She-Hulk is left to be an attorney at law managing a new job at a special superhero law firm in the marvel cinematic universe. But is it better or worse than the pilot episode 1? Is She-Hulk worth watching on Disney+?

I never expected to wish for episode 1 of She-Hulk to come back but here we are, it got worse. Welcome to the slow descent into darkness that happened during this videos creation lmao. But what did you think of the episode, or what did you think based on the review? Let me know your thoughts below and as always, thanks for watching :)

I would not call it worse per say. Nothing tops the sheer repulsiveness of the first episode. If anything, it was pretty bland/boring and shorter on the mysandry. Oh yeah, and painfully unfunny. Don't get me wrong, the show still sucks. And I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel, only pitch black darkness.

It's funny how it never dawned on Jen that being hired for her She-Hulk persona may not be such a bad thing in this case - considering she'd be working in a superhero division and if any of these superhuman individuals (hero or villain) got out of line and needed to be subdued, she's the perfect employee to have on staff, as she could handle that task with little to no effort. But no - she just focuses on the negative.

It's based on a story in the comics where she got fired due to being famous for saving the world. In THAT story she was a world-wide celebrity. So in that case it'd be semi-reasonable. Here... ok, that one case, maybe.... Not EVERY law firm, or every case, no reason not to just move on to the next case.
@Lobsterwithinternet
@Lobsterwithinternet 6 месяцев назад
@@marhawkman303 Not to mention that even in that case they would be insane to fire her. They could’ve just had her be just the head of the superhero division and, even in a worst-case scenario, just be the face of the division doing social media stuff while the other people under her do the lawyering. Kind of like with that Kardashian with the law degree. The money they could make off her celebrity status alone would more than make up for what they're paying her.

I guess that the scene where she gets fired is meant to show that, in fact, she really is the World's worst lawyer. Consider how a REAL attorney would handle this situation: "I'm afraid you lost your case." What, did the jury come back?" "No, the Judge declared a mistrial." "Ok, that's reasonable. So I didn't lose anything. We just have to do it all over again. Well, too bad, but that Titania lady was at fault here." "Yes, but, I'm afraid that we need to fire you. You'e a distraction." "I see. Has the Bar Association, the Judge or anyone else accused me of Professional Malpractice for saving the Judge and Jury's lives? Or is this just your reaction to this unfortunate situation? I really need to know." "It's just something we need to do." "Well, something that I JUST need to do is sue your firm for wrongful discharge without a reasonable cause. In fact, it's outright discrimination based on my immutable physical characteristics, which is illegal, in case you didn't know. You want to reconsider your decision before my complaint is served?" That would actually show that she's a half-way decent attorney, intelligent and a fighter. But no, she takes this patently unfair and illegal decision without even a protest. I's pathetic. Ok, it's a "comedy" (allegedly), but that's totally no excuse for making your main character look like a spineless incompetant.

I found it unintentionally hilarious when She-Hulk demonstrated one of the main reasons there is a "gender wage gap" - she's in a field where pay isn't standardized, but negotiated, and when she is offered a job and told she can take time to think it over, instead of checking what the terms and conditions are and then using the knowledge that she's being actively courted for the role to strengthen her bargaining position, she just immediately accepts it, thus reinforcing the point that one factor for women being paid less is that they play it safe and accept the first offer rather than holding out for an improved offer. And then she discovers she is literally a diversity hire, which only makes it even more funny.

I'm sure even these writers realize that he's the one male character they can't write like a 2D idiot- if only because Marvel is counting on him for other projects, and also because they're probably heavily relying on him for a ratings boost! A couple of things about the legal representation for Abomination... 1. A lawyer should absolutely recuse themselves from a case where they are supposed to defend someone accused of injuring one of the lawyer's family members. That's basic ethics. Her boss would have absolutely insisted she recuse herself from the case, so this "conflict" exists for no other reason than to make some man look bad. All defendants are entitled to "zealous legal representation," meaning their lawyer / attorney must do everything in their power to obtain the best possible outcome for the defendant. If Hulkette didn't recuse herself from this case, and the judge in the case found out she had such a flagrant conflict of interest, she'd be removed from the case by the judge and likely face disciplinary action. And her law firm would almost certainly hit her with discipline, if they didn't outright fire her. (I'm honestly kind of surprised she tried to recuse herself...I would have expected her to throw a fit about being asked to recuse herself, because she's just such an amazing lawyer and person that should could have easily provided zealous representation for someone who attempted to murder one of her family. Such brave. Much strong.) 2. The parole process in the US is absolutely intended to give some criminals a chance to rehabilitate and rejoin society. We _should_ give criminals a chance to rehabilitate, even some violent criminals. We shouldn't try to rehabilitate _all_ criminals. That being said, we're talking about a comic book villain who is utterly irredeemable. The fact these morons thought it made any kind of sense that anyone would offer someone like Abomination the possibility of parole is so laughable I don't know how they put it into a show...even a pathetic attempt at comedy. We're talking about the world where people completely ignored the US Constitution to enforce an international treaty that imposed illegal strictures and sanctions on US citizens, then locked some of those US citizens in a maximum security prison in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean without a trial, or even legal representation, for refusing to ask permission to stop a villain who had perpetrated a horrendous act of terror. The idea that same government, the government that declared CAPTAIN FUCKING AMERICA a criminal for doing the right thing, would even _CONSIDER_ offering parole to a supervillain may be the most ridiculous thing these idiots have written. But, hey...who the hell thought this should would be even remotely watchable? Maybe a half dozen blue-haired land-whales and the simps who love them.

To me ben 10 is more accurate on what would happen if someone got powers yes they would use it selfishly at times but when push comes to shove they try to do good thats more believable.

I'd say the best writers have an understanding of human nature--the good, the quirky, the weird, the frightening. Hopefully, you've lived life outside of academia. It's old-school, but the best writers write about what they know. Hopefully, you've lived life outside of academia. If not, maybe you should write about academia. Really any genre could take place in high school & college -- time travel, rom-com, sci-fi, sports, coming-of-age, fantasy, etc. Research. Always remember your research. These writers obviously know nothing about the law or women in law or business. When the reader/viewer says to ourselve's "That would never happen that way", we've just left the story & come back to reality. When the story is being told, we should be immersed in it. A simple thing like hiring & firing someone in an office versus a bar is not so simple. I wish you luck. I hope to be riveted by your work someday!

The worst part of this shit episode was that one rewrite could have made this and everything after halfway decent. Because if we had competent writers that can write a dramatic legal show, we could have had Jen have the trial of her career where _she_ and the GLKH guy chose to put personal history aside to _defend_ Blonsky with a strong case of his exploitation under the US government. Not for parole, obviously, but for a life sentence in a superhuman equivalent of a supermax vs the death penalty, or something. We could actually see something like a twist on the Superhuman Registration Act be bandied about because of problems like Blonsky, rationalized as a way to identify and protect these people from exploitation, like filing with the VA or ADA for needs-specific resources, protections, benefits, accommodations, etc. So she takes this job, which drives a wedge between her and Bruce, who is justifiably not okay with her decision, hurt that Jen would even consider doing this and doesn't like/trust the idea of a vulnerable group of people like himself under the thumb of a government run organization with limitless reach, and we could have a series long arc where Jen realizes that Blonsky is a manipulative monster long before he was Abomination, and that despite the career defining turn as Blonsky's defense would grant her, her sense of honor wins out. I would even debut mutants through clever application, like say she sends that useless paralegal to interview people for/against SHRA, and one of the people she interviews is Dr. Charles Xavier, a wealthy disabled children's psychologist looking for benefactors for a school he has in mind for -mutant- _troubled_ youth... Eventually Jen would resign as Blonksy's defense and as a lawyer because she realizes that the law is great, but only for the law-abiding; for people that would violate and exploit others' agency/safety, big or small, super or not, they'll answer to _She-Hulk._ Roll credits! But again, we'd need competent writers for that.

Blonski's defense of "not my fault, it was the serum" has actually been floating around the internet since the 2008 movie, and it's a valid defense. General Ross presented it to him, told him it would help him complete the mission, and didn't appear to give him a full rundown of the side effects which included increased aggression and reduced cognizance and self-control. Had he done this to himself deliberately he'd still be culpable, but since it was given to him by Ross, he's legally not responsible for the actions caused by that altered mental state. As a real-world analogy, if you choose to take meth and then go nuts and destroy a car, you're fully on the hook for that car. If someone else gave you meth not telling you what it was or what it would do, and you destroy a car, you can get off because it was their fault you were in that altered state, not your own. But Hulk fans on the internet came up with this defense, not the She-Hulk writers, so no credit to them for that.

Hulk, Thor and doctor strange are literally their names, and Hawkeye was pretty much Barton’s codename iirc. There is a reason she got fired... Because the writers (THESE PARTICULAR WOMEN) were incompetent at writing scripts. Look at Daredevil, they had 6 writers and the show was amazing. There reason I don't bring up their gender or sex in the case of Daredevil is because regardless they were competent writers.

I think Marvel has forgotten what a superhero is. A superhero isn't a person with great personal power. They are fundamentally heroic people who just so happen to have powers. They'd still be a hero without their powers. I'm reminded of an episode from the Justice League cartoon where Superman gets sent forward in time on Earth beneath a red Sun (so he loses his powers). In the episode, Superman still behaves honorable and noble, trying to do the right thing even though he has no powers at all. That is what a hero, a superhero, truly is. She-Hulk is just a person with powers, not a superhero.

As a result, assumedly the entirety of the public people would think of her as a hero and would therefore be biased I her favor for every case. It makes sense. What I can't understand is why they wouldn't try to use her for publicity or to help other people build their cases. Heck, why wouldn't they at least try to get her on another case, just to see if their assumptions about the bias of the jury is true.

That is simply not true. Lawyers work their whole life's for that type of exposure. Take OJ Simpsons lawyer, he quickly became tge highest paid lawyer in the WORLD and then grew a lawfirm based on his name alone , that even now is the tip paid lawyers anywhere! It is impossible to prove a jury is basised based on fame or heroism, or military officers with purple hearts could never win a case or work as an attorney. Lawfirms fight over famous lawyers, that's an edge any office would want. Your argument makes no sense. I am very much knowledgeable of the legal system and every judge , lawyer, and paralegal dreams of becoming famous and reaching star level for any reason.

@@beentheredonethat5908 I'm not particularly familiar with OJ's case or his lawyer, although I do know of what you are talking about. My assumption here though is that OJ's lawyer grew because he was the lawyer in a very famous case, and therefore, given the difficulty of the case, it was evident that he was a very good lawyer. In this show, however, Jennifer (I think that's her name... I don't know for sure) is given the spotlight for her heroism, not for her skills as a lawyer. Therefore, it isn't inconceivable that the jury would be biased in her favor. The people she helped almost certainly were. Again, I want to note that it was absurd that she was fired so quickly, without so much as a chance to see if other juries would be biased just because she took them.

I like you Disparu but the Abomination plot could be extremely interesting. I rewatched The Incredible Hulk to understand it better. He was informed that Bruce Banner had killed multiple innocent people prior to fleeing to Brazil, all of his fellow brothers in arms were either killed or maimed in the soda factory, and the whole movie prior to taking the fucked up serum he was following orders faithfully. His mind was breaking down after being injected with a botched super soldier serum and then he infused himself with Hulks blood then went on a rampage. At the end of the day he’s a poor bastard who got pumped full of experimental drugs and went psychotic, while Hulk, who had killed multiple innocents as well, became an Avenger.

Blonsky's (or whatever his name is) reasoning for why he should be let out actually makes sense. You can't blame him for trying to take down the hulk because the government told him to. You wouldn't get mad at seal team 6 for following orders, so why get mad at blonsky. And, the super soldier serum that the government gave him made him go insane. Again, he cannot be blamed for that. That is what he was trying to communicate during this episode. It makes sense. The only issue would be whether or not he is still insane from the serum and whether he would go rampaging a city again. If the effects wore off then there is no reason for him to be in jail, but if he is still a risk (as in he might do it again), then he should still be in jail.

@@sitcomchristian6886 I haven't seen the hulk movie so everything I said was just a breakdown of what Blonsky actually said in the episode. Also, I can't tell if disparu is being intentionally dense for the sake of the video, but I'm pretty sure that episode ended with the reporter saying that Blonsky broke out and went to a fight club (Maybe I'm misremembering though), not with him going on a rampage. Also, I'm going to put it here since I forgot to put it somewhere else, but the end credits scene didn't play out like a commentary on gender roles or whatever disparu made it seem like. It played out like a joke. It was just a really bad joke because it didn't really have a punchline.

There is actually a very plausible reason as to why she-hulk is fired and won't be re-hired. It's great that she saved people's lives, but the second a super-hero starts defending someone (no matter how criminal), the entire jury will be biased towards the super-hero. The judge and prosecution know this, and will move to a mistrial every single time. Additionally, if she has to defend someone that's very clearly guilty, public opinion of both her and the firm will plummet. It makes sense that no firm would want such a toxic asset. The writers got that part right at least.

I'm about 99% sure that the writing staff never even considered how ironic this is. But I'll allow for a 1% chance that somebody on the writing staff actually thinks that all the other actors/actresses all around the world taking jobs based on their physical attributes instead of talent should ALSO be complaining because we actually DO think they're hired for that reason rather than for their acting qualifications. Maybe that might be a criticism of woke casting rather than an ironic complaint about it. Probably not.

Yeah I'm fairly certain that if something happened in court like an attack or something than a lawyer wouldn't be fired for saving someone's life. Even if the Jury did become bias towards her than well they can just get a new Jury (In fact due to a Mistrial, don't they have to get a new Jury as it has to start again?). If they're saying everyone will have bias towards her as she's now popular well that argument doesn't work either. I imagine most people know about the Amber heard and Johnny Deep case. Johnny's lawyers have gained the publics favour and they've not been stripped of their job (As far as I'm aware). In fact having a popular lawyer would be a good thing for a lawyer firm. You would instantly attract a lot more people to your firm and therefore gain a lot more money and likely high profile cases at that. Oh I'm sorry I forgot the writers have the intelligence and critical thinking skills of a wooden spoon.

I think what's being missed here is that she's not just a lawyer who saved some people's lives, she's a superpowered individual who saved some people's lives, making her a superhero. Imagine if Tony Stark had been a lawyer in this universe, and the way that juries would have responded to his arguments, consciously or unconsciously, because of who he is and what he has done for people. Imagine if Thor was an attorney, and how people would respond to him. Opposing counsel would absolutely argue that any trial where a superhero is an attorney is automatically unfair, and they would win on that point. An unbiased jury is extremely important. As an attorney myself, I think that this was actually quite accurate. What was inaccurate was when it was portrayed that a mistrial being declared means that the case is lost. That's not true. The trial would in all likelihood just happen again. She-Hulk was working at the DA's office, so it would have been within the DA's power to bring fresh charges against the individual whose lawyers got the mistrial, and have them tried again. Additionally, lawyers do much more than litigate in court, so they probably would just have reassigned She-Hulk to work in a non-advocate role instead of outright firing her.
@petriew2018
@petriew2018 Год назад
@@krjeff you're assuming that because she's a bit of a freak (she's not a 'superhero' since she's actually done fuckall outside that one incident... which, let's face it, was fairly minor in the grand scheme) that is automatically a problem because everyone would have some sort of bias towards or against her.... simply because that's what the show wants you to believe, regardless of whether it actually makes sense or not. In the MCU, where people far more actually heroic than her are running around in increasingly ridiculous numbers... why would you assume the average person is going to have any strong feelings one way or another for She-Hulk? again, she's done all but literally nothing to qualify as a 'superhero'. what's unfair about a lawyer who can turn into a big green monster? what's the inherent advantage she has beyond being able to stop some random unforeseen event bursting it's why into the court room.... which is highly, highly unlikely to happen. Serious question : what's her inherent unfair advantage? She's not superhumanly smart (quite the opposite....), which is the only thing would tip the balance in her favor in a courtroom setting. This is the problem with setting a series in a courtroom when you have no fucking clue what happens inside one : you have to justify everything with logic, not just state it as true and have it be accepted because, well, the plot needs to happen.
