Giving up because you want to give up and giving up because you're scared, are two totally different things. I saw this movie, and you know like an actual human being, I saw it from both sides. She's hurt and scared from her past relationship, that's why she hasn't gotten into relationships, until she met Hayes. And I understand from his viewpoint, because he clearly hasn't been loved correctly either.
Only part of me.. agrees with you. Their past wasn't the biggest factor here. "There is no logic in falling for someone". Visibly, there was something almost instantly for him... He came after her...and she liked it!! Why not? Their liaison could and would work (perhaps) if Hayes wasn't the "dream man" of many teens and if.... he kept his love for Solene more private. Alas, the nastiness of some of his fans brought Solene down to earth.. rather quickly!!!. She had no choice but to protect her daughter, her business, and ....herself!
@@Marguerite-wu3nwand eventually he did see and accept that which is why he said 5 years at the end. He loved her too much to just let her go. We know Solene "followed him" or kept an eye out so she could see him... Just like on the Graham Norton show. He may have been doing something similar with her.
